I've never seen mustard used in that way. Now, be honest, is that the same mustard from your fridge or is it a separate one you use for painting?
Yep, taken straight out of the fridge, squirt a little out and put back in the fridge again.

I've never thought to paint pieces still on the sprue. I've always removed them and used alligator clips or hot glue. I'll be using that tip thank you. 😊

So these guys are primed already?
I don't think they're primed, just with the flat grey plastic, they give that impression but you can paint directly onto them without priming.

Can you make one that can light up with a plug?
I guess it is possible but probably not with this product, it's not transparent enough. With all the LED options out there it would not be impossible.
Thanks for putting this out there! Everyone has their own approach to doing things, and this is great. I ended up molding foam, which works great for me.

What kind of paint, i can used?
I used water based acrylic paint, I would expect that any brand would be fine.
Are you using Tamiya paints?
Yeah, for the most part, unfortunately my flesh tone had dried out so I had to improvise.

Hey I was wondering if you could customize my Zurg figure make it look like from the movie I will be willing to pay?
@Retro Rocketman I was wondering, could you do a video of painting my Zurg figure it really needs some detail I will be willing to pay Like make it movie accurate I mean it technically is it’s just I want the gray to be a little bit darker the purple to be more like a metallic dark purple to match the movie and also paint those tubes on either side of his legs he’s got two on each at least on my version and the tubes on his head one on each side of those could be painted more of a darkish black gray that would be nice. Thank you.

This is a great tutorial, best wall I've seen so far.... and has an added bonus ! I get to use my hunting knife, and when my wife comes out to ask what the hell I think I'm doing I can say I have to use it and show her this video!

whats the glued on toilet paper for? I dont notice a difference
The foam has a smoothish texture when it cures but if you cut into it to carve more edges and character it's full of holes underneath. The toilet paper and glue finish is to give it a more solid look without the 'Swiss Cheese' effect.
Been thinking on getting the same model and follow these steps, didn't know about the mustard as masking fluid lol
The mustard masking works best with cheaper acrylics, not so much with enamels.

It all depends on what your usage will be. For a simple free standing backdrop absolutely but if you want to actually attach it to a wall on a larger scale you might want to do it on something like plywood and screw it to your wall. This can then be more easily removed if need be.
