My videos are either Historical or everyday life, my Church Videos are shot in one take, I research the history as best I can, I absolutely love History & the people that were part of it, the Churches are worth a visit in person, I also volunteer at several Churches looking after the Cemetaries and Church Maintenance, I have a fascination with the Historical connection of places & people, my love of History goes right back to the Saxon & Norman period, absolutely love it all, in my spare time I paint in water colour some of the Churches I visit

Cool Car's Lots of Mk 1 Cortina's BUT From the Vid /DID not See One Aussie Holden Monaro There ? Getting out is the Worse Part ?
Thanks next time I'll look out for the Holdens, I spent a good year driving around Aus in a for falcon, I so love the motors out thier & the space, what a dream
My Heart My Soul my Land . .
Thanks for posting!
Thanks Eddie, I'd had a ring side seat until all the diplomatic & office types strolled down, but the Scottish Bagpipes always get me, reminds me so much of the late Queen who as I understand it had a lone Bagpiper play on the grounds
beautiful service. That Church is amazing
Was a touching service, the Church has amazing carvings in old Oak
I think I remember someone called butterworth at mayflower county high ,was that you paul?
@toppertruthio no, not me, I went to Billericay School, I've never actually met another Butterworth on my travels, thanks for watching
Somebody’s stupid actions causes misery to somebody else and expense and inconvenience and risk to emergency workers
GOD BLESS HIM 🙌 🙏 FOREVER ETERNITY 🙏 🙏🎖🎖🎖
Loverly fella isn't he
No footage of the Soviets! Great video though mate!
One of our favorite things to do when we travel to the UK is attend a service. This is definitely a Chapel to experience. Thanks for sharing we always love your content.
A Good Service is always memorable & thanks for watching. It's always appreciated
when we visited from Louisiana last October we came here. Loved it! I only wish I had change on me to buy the book inside! the music was great. I would have stayed behind as well!
Thanks Eddie ill send you over a copy if I can get one, there's so little known about the Fort & Chapel, it's one of those buildings the more you look at it the more you'll see. St Cedd himself it's a time of the Dark Ages where ancient Britain was divided by waring King's & Kingdoms of Norse Pagan beliefs, St Cedd & his three brothers were incredibly brave men, glad you enjoyed the music Eddie, is it warm in Louisiana now?
@@paulbutterworthbillericay i love how you can see the Roman stones in the walls! And the back you can see the foundation where the original curved wall was. It get a high of around 30 Celsius right now but isn’t too hot and has a nice wind. At night feels amazing. I thought of taking a book and mailing a donation but didn’t know how that would work haha.
@eddieharr The Archaeologist said its likely the Roman arches were built by the Saxons & the Norman's added the semi circular Apse, then centuries later a medieval priest being responsible for this out of the way Chapel, repairing the Apse roof was easier to knock it down & use the rubble to fill in around the arches, 30 sounds real nice around 10 here but fairly mild for this time of year, I'll get a book next time I'm down
@@paulbutterworthbillericaythat is too kind. If you do I’ll send you back a goodie package from Louisiana
Lovely video,do love it there, have been going there for 60 odd years
Isnt Essex Great, I absolutely Love around the Blackwater Estuary right upto Mersea Island with all the saltings & Creeks I really must walk further around the peninsula, 60 years I bet little has changed apart from a few signs
🏴👑🇬🇧
Essex at its best, especially on a really hot summers day when you can't feel the wind
Original Mod WoW you've had some laughs and seen some things as it was fresh and happening and still going strong, noticed you got Republic of Ireland flag, hopefully when i get my Lambretta hopefully like my Li in 85 ill bump into you next year on a run 🇬🇧✌️🇮🇪
I was very lucky to meet them, great thier still into the scene
Look at all those beautiful Lambretta's, and i can't find any that ain't stupid money 😢
Like everything seems to go up but not down, maybe import a rusty project from Italy
God bless him.

44:53 is that corporal nauyokas from bad lad's army?, always used to find him entertaining!.
Yes it was, & I couldn't think to ask which is not like me lol
I've rung here twice once for a young ringers practice and again for a wedding a couple of years ago, there not the most easiest to ring but boy that ringing chamber really is a timecapsule!. from memory the 2nd is the oldest bell and the rest are mostly 18th century (although the treble was given as a war memorial in 1919), it's also good to see the bells I've always wondered what they looked like!.
Great experience you've had, I'd love to stand in the bell chamber wearing ear defenders & see the bells all go at the same time
You haven’t forgotten Goldhanger then!
Such a special place, & so far, only time I've witnessed the Ellacombe Chimes being played, must return for a meal in that loverly pub
Looks great, trust everyone enjoyed as much as I have watching on TH-cam, thanks Paul.
Thankyou very much, these sized events are great
It was a very good year this year! I really like the British commandos and their glider. Had a good chat with them! Plus the bratwurst was delightful
Yes, they were great, looking forward to next year
Go to war looking like a chicken
If I lived there I would be joining you at all these great events!
Thanks Eddie, what's good with Essex is all these events are within 1 hour of me
beautiful church!
Built in the 1100s & and ruled by the Knights Hospilalier's imagine that, so little is known of them
What a wonderful recreation of old England! I'm sorry it rained but at least you had some fine weather. I would have loved to have taken part and sampled the food, talked to the tudors etc.
It was excellent & included in the entrance fee to Ingatestone Hall, so you could wonder around the Hall grounds & chat with the Tudor Reenactment folk, they would not break out of character & I found myself speaking Coin lol
Very interesting 👍
Just shows what we used to be like, I would have been the fella with the rabbit lol
Very nice! Thank- you!
Thankyou, totally Unplanned on the Ride & Stride but I love climbing west towers
Yes you have an ss eagle on your arm and a soldier eagle on your gorget two different eagles also the chain is far too long
Seems every empire has a thing about Eagles, Rome, Germanica & America & I dare say many more
Very Interesting :) Thank YOU!! Lovely video and historical information - very much appreciated!
Oh I loved making this one. Most interesting location, & when I last saw this Church it was taken care of by the Greek Orthodox, most interesting, the old Napoleonic Stone outside had been vandalised, I would like to visit again, South Benflleet ive not covered but has some serious Viking History, fascinating part of Essex in today a busy part
@@paulbutterworthbillericay Very Nice! :) Wishing you a very Enjoyable journey and video making! The old Churches are SO LOVELY, and it's wonderful that the Orthodox people are using them :) If you go back in Church History, England was actually Orthodox before the Western and Eastern split in 1054 AD.....up to that time, all Christian Churches were Orthodox....sad how the split came up and then further splits in the West etc....these lovely old Chapels are so nice! They show how faithful people were....
@joannajones8533 Great knowledge, I found out that my local Church was given to the Nuns of Stratford in 1190, visitors love that one when I tell em, they always look around as if to find one in prayer
@@paulbutterworthbillericay Ahhhhh..that is SO nice! I don't know much about the Church History in England - only that there are several English Saints that are part of the Orthodox Church - as they were canonised as Saints before the 1054 AD split....such as St Alban, the first English Martyr; St Edmund the Martyr; St Aristobulus, Apostle of Britain; and many others.....thus, they are venerated by the Orthodox people in Britain today :) I don't know about the Nuns of Stratford - i shall check that out. Wonderful History about your Local Church! Really nice!
I always remember going in there when I was about 12 or 13 years old (early 1970's.) It always seemed a bit scary going round there, as it was very quiet and the floors creaked! The then curator never seemed to like children being in there on their own, as he would often spring out of a door and glare at us! I was always fascinated by the stuffed 2 headed cat that on display too! 😮 Glad to see that it has reopened again - next time I am in Billericay I will have to try to visit and see what it is like now! 😊
Yes I know what you mean about the old days, put it this way, I went to Burstead School a 5 minutes walk away, Headmaster walked along the corridor with a wearing his black cape & mitre board hat telling us tales of Egypt, the Cater Museum I remember the Curators as you described popping thier head around the door, & exibits on every surface, the new Curator is more with the times & approachable, & I'd like to return as I understand they were working on a Zeppelin room
I’m in the video 18:10 black coat grey hood, on mama dread with the boys doing some restoration, fab video mate although I’m a year late 💪
Excellent your part of the history of Shoebury hope your restoration went well
speaking as a bellringer I can answer some of the question about the peal board, 3 hours 15 minutes would be the average for these bells which weighing in at 22cwt are one of the heaviest eight in essex, normally it would be near the 2 hour mark but this dependent both on the bells and the speed of the ringing. the reason why there are two men on the tenor is not because they switched over, in those days many heavy bells where awkward to ring and as this one had something of a reputation someone would ring would ring "both strokes" whilst another would "strap" as a way of ensuring that the bell didn't drop whilst ringing!, I've never rung here myself but I certainly hope to in the not too distant future!.
Excellent thanks for your knowledge, 2 - 3 hours that's a lot of bell ringing, just out of curiosity did you get the opportunity to ring when her Majesty died
Was Bruce Crompton in the house?!
I was only there on Sunday, was he a guest, I met him in Normandy, nice fella
I'm working on a 1/56 model version of this chapel. This video was exactly what I needed to to get a grasp on the construction and texture of the building. Very informative. Lots of work ahead of me it looks like.
Excellent love to see the finnished model, would have love you have seen the original fort
Excellent video. Great way to spend a day. Really enjoyed it. Hope you do more. Many thanks. Got a new sub!
Excellent thanks so much, yes I will carry on God willing, it's an excellent way to spend a day, these events are so laid back & accessible to the public love it
Great video went on the monday really nice bunch of people love talking about there interest in history next year is the 25 anniversary show cheers
Thanks so much, next year a special anniversary show?, yes I'd not planned on going, & my sat nav took me the strangest way up a wild track, I turned up really late, next time I'll leave at the crack of dawn & have a walkabout, but I love these events, I always feel like a time traveller
how awesome! I reenact American Civil War (both Union and Confederate) over here in Louisiana. There were several battles in my area we reenact every year. Id love to come over to an event like this and do my portrayal. However bringing the rifle may be a bit difficult haha. It's amazing to see so many ACW reenactors there. wild. YOUVE NEVER SEEN GETTYSBURG MOVIE!!? Do that!
I remember your offer from last year, you must have a blast reenacting where it actually happened Eddie in Louisiana, yes the Union & Confederate lads do turn up on mass, I'm impressed by thier knowledge & enthusiasm, we're a long way from America & it's states but the American Civil War seems to pull the the heart strings of folk here, I reckon Eddie you could probably could borrow a weapon here from the group, I'm sure they'd help out, next year I'll try & get there early
Good Video! Safe to say its not very often you meet someone in the UK who's grandfather was in the Imperial Japanese Army!
Thank-you, I know I got caught out straight away by a Vietnam Veteran & like you say the Japanese dependent, I was told his hat was his grandfather's, just fascinating who you'll meet
Think i remember seeing that Huey in 2017 at Beltring. Didn't have any of the bells and Whistles back then!
They have worked hard building it, must be exciting relieving more parts for it
Welease wodderick
This was Super Awesome!
Thanks, it was so big I didn't walk all of it. Another time, I'll get there super early to spend more time
@@paulbutterworthbillericay wonderful!
great video, cheers
Thanks, I enjoyed it. The volunteers make it what it is
@@paulbutterworthbillericay im coming next you looks great fun
The first Hells Angel chapter was formed in London in 1969. So, well after the Mods and Rockers moral panic.
Thanks, remember it's a long time back the 1960s, I would think there were biker gangs around the time of 63 / 64
love your videos/history lessons!
Thanks, it's a pleasure making them, thanks so much for watching & commenting
Beautiful car and colour. The oatmeal interior looks so attractive. Genius design.
This church has really nice bells infact I'm a bellringer and tilston
Thanks I don't know what that means
I ment bellringer it came out as challenger😂

👏🏻
Loving these church vids, have already visited greensted and St marys, mundon on the back of them. What's parking like here, looks pretty sparse?
There excellent Churches you have visited, parking at Chickney just out front but no car park, in my opinion in England we have some if the finest Churches ever built, most are run down crooked & covered in cobwebs, but the authenticity if them is outstanding, I'm glad you're got a liking for Churches, & I can't believe four years has passed since I shot this video
@paulbutterworthbillericay we did both in one day, have to say although I thought both were great, I found Mundon the more fascinating of the two, as it's like a time capsule, like one day everyone just left and never went back. Also found it decidedly eerie!! Also really enjoyed the one you did on St John's in Danbury....have a special affection for that church, as its where we got married. Dunnonif you've visited the non conformist cemetery in Chelmsford....looks an interesting place with some notable burials. Doesn't have a church attached to it though
Yes Mundons great, did you look out back accross the fields to the petrified trees? I think you'll like Purley near Maldon not always open but great visit, Tilley Abbey ruin & Church is a good one, Danbury I'm interested in the Wooden Effigies of the Knights connected to St Clare family, some serious history, America would have a theme park set up, fascinating stuff
@paulbutterworthbillericay ah no we didn't check those out!! Purley is on the list to visit as I believe it's where my wife's great grandparents are buried
@BazzaHSpeccymad purleys where George Washingtons Great Grandfather comes from, Lawrence Washington & he's buried in Maldons cemetery in town,
Thanks Paul, great video, love the dancers all great 👍 ❤
