Hi, Guys! Thanks for dropping by. This channel really started as my personal dumpsite of stuff I've been doing for the past 3 years when my journey into the film world began. I still work in progress, so is this channel as you can see, but back then I was truly clueless. But one thing has led to the next and this dump just kept piling up, something I never expected. Not everything here I would consider great, but this is my way of tracking my learning process as an actor, yup: the good, the bad, and even the ugly. So forgive me for the mess, click around as you please, and I hope you find little pieces of value you can have fun with, or use as a filmmaker. Ciao!

Monologue: “Mia’s Monologue” by Damien Chazelle, from the film La La Land (2016)
Actor: Shihpo Chou
Country: Taiwan
Course: Acting for the Absolute Beginner
Instructor: Charlie Curilan
Performance date: 14 July 2024
Camera: Casper Brink
Editing: Emmanuel Tenenbaum
This intensive beginner’s course immerses novices in acting fundamentals rooted in the traditions of Stanislavski, revered as the father of modern acting. His methodology initially redefined modern American theatrical and cinematic performance, subsequently influencing the entire acting world.
Spanning 12 days, the course, designed by Charlie Curilan, introduces the actor to concepts and practices developed by Stanislavski, Strasberg, Stella Adler, Uta Hagen, Sanford Meisner, David Mamet & William H. Macy, Michael Chekov, and Tony Grahn. Its aim is to cultivate a deep appreciation for the actor’s craft and provide participants with an experiential understanding of embodying characters within storytelling.
Participants engage in a structured process that integrates foundational principles, applying them through basic scene study, script analysis, audition techniques, and self-taping exercises. Practical insights into industry practices-from navigating the casting process to finding representation and selecting headshots-are also covered. The course culminates in the actor’s FIRST monologue performance, initial self-tape audition, and a headshot photoshoot, equipping participants to navigate the competitive and dynamic entertainment industry.
Designed to prepare committed individuals for further exploration in dramatic arts and more advanced training at the Mulholland Academy. #dramaschool #acting #drama #actor #theatre #actingclasses #actingcoach #actorslife #actingtraining #actors #performingarts #actinglessons #actingschool #dramaclub #actingclass #actingworkshops #actress #actordevelopment #actormanager #auditions

It helped me understand that in addition to embodying characters, expressing emotions, and telling stories, 'acting', in essence, is portraying the truth about human nature. Boomhauer is very much like east texas. They can mumble.
No no no. No East Texas accent here. Sorry
Sound like Billy Bob Thornton lol. Not sure if he’s from Texas, but love it!
Wow - thank you so much for sharing this. This was insanely powerful.

Bloody amazing! I loved it 🤘
Well done!!! 👏👏👏👏

Right, because you could do better.
Your laugh at 2:46 was so believable that I thought you broke character! Nice work!

Wow. Great work, Charlie. I'm the guy who wrote this play 20 years ago. I found your video completely by accident, while trying to find an old review of the play. Thanks for making my night!
Dear kind Sir, I... I...will need a script to have anything to say right now. I'm on the verge of tears...and it's not because I'm acting. You have no idea how grateful to you I am already for writing your scripts, your body of work, but to to give me a pat on the back for the humble efforts of an aspiring actor who, like many others, struggle to find real reason to keep being actors. I think the biggest lesson I've learned in this journey is that it's not about us, it's about the writers, much like how musicians play to serve the composer. I'm afraid my writing ability (or the lack of it) will not allow me to fully express what your words mean to me, but I'll give it a shot: THANK YOU.

Huge fan over here...I’m excited to see your progress along your journey.
That is the sweetest complement I have ever received bar none. I will forever cherish that and take it with me wherever this journey leads me.
Is it really improvised? Because is really good
Hi! Thanks for your viewing and commenting! This scene is adapted from the movie "Boiler Room", so it's not an improv exercise. The generosity exercise is. You can find it on this playlist: bit.ly/CharlieCurilan_AlexMurphyAct2019
This is not easy at all! WOW!
Thanks Tara!
Your awesome Sir
Sir, you are too kind!!! THANK YOU!
