I saw a news story in which it was reported that French president Macron said that he could see a scenario in which French troops could be sent to Ukraine. Really, REALLY bad idea. What if French troops were injured or killed by Russian action, whether accidentally or on purpose? France is a member of NATO. Article 5 of the NATO agreement states than an attack on one member of NATO is to be considered an attack on all members. Would this compel the United States to declare war on Russia and deploy our troops to Ukraine? It sure would seem so.
