There was an only short story similar to this where the town kept sending people they got to the point they start sending orphan kids and the villain ended up just adopting them giving them food medication and took care of them

It looks characters searching for effectiveness (like someone described creativity - hidden effectiveness)..

I mean If he was the villain he would have killed the child that's why they are called villains, basically stupid to believe fate while The Hero will never say he's the hero he would rather his name as asked and defy fate.

Plot twist: The Prophet specifically knew the Dark Lord would do this, they're old gambling buddies; so she told this child he was the champion after hearing their story so that this in particular would happen. (This is just my headcanon don't ruin it pls it's cute)

Looks like the Hero succeeded to me. Winning doesn't always mean killing the villian.

Prophet never said how he would defeat the dark lord, thus I assume that the prophecy did say he would kill him, but instead implies that the dark lord because a kind man and father

I mean, if you don't wanna fight an orphan, you shouldn't'a orphaned him. Like... I get it's not the point, but what evil is he actually committing that people would send a hero against him? It's something. How many orphans has he made? Or any other thousands of evils committed? Like this concept only works if he isn't evil, but if he's not actually evil, what cause are they sending the 'hero' on? So desperate to get rid of him that they'd send a child. What kinda monster is he, really? Or not... 😂
