Shuttle Pipes key change
I just got my shuttle pipes and I messed around the drones to see if I could tune them in minor without changing reeds.
Turns out the Tenor A drone can be tuned to B.
To tune the bass and baritone to B and F#, I would need another set of reeds.

I decided to record a combination of almost all the drone reeds I own to find my favourite combo. This comparison was done using Mexican Royal Ebony MacLellan drones attached to a Bannatyne Hybrid bag with canister moisture control. Of course, playing with a chanter adds more variables, like strike-ins, cut offs, air efficiency... But I think all the bass drone reeds were pretty good, it seems ...

      @@charlessamson7668 Thanks so much for answering me in Spanish. Yes, bagpipes are more than and instrument…are a feeling. I started on 2016, March, with a Delrin Bagpipes and no musical knowledge at all. At present I have a McCallum African Blackwood (AB3) with a McC2 SOLO Chanter….just enjoying, just trying to improve…but knowing my borders, my limits…but being happy with every practice. Best wishes from South West Spain !

  • @dpmsig4514
    @dpmsig4514 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice experiment! I like the Cane bass and Ezee Tenors best, then the Kelt bass and Ezees, then the full Kelt setup. The kelt tenors are pretty bright, I think they overpower all of the basses except the Kelt. I personally don't like the Ezee bass, and find that using a more cane-sounding bass instead gives the overall sound a boost - I'm playing a Redwood bass with Ezee tenors at the moment.
