I am a clarinet professor and performer who is dedicated to not only the standard classical repertoire but to also presenting under-performed pieces in unexpected places as well as in beautiful concert halls around the world. I feel that nature and joy should pervade our lives as musicians and lead us to new opportunities in sound, while promoting the relevancy of the classics.
Lessons from Higher Elevations
Being a successful classical musician in today's competitive market requires not just polished technical skills and musical sophistication, it also requires every advantage possible. Instead of learning only from musicians, we can also learn from medical professionals, sports psychologists, coaches, athletes, and scientific experts. Climbing and performing at higher elevations is not for everyone, but there are lessons that we can extrapolate from what it takes to excel in extreme circumstances to optimize typical performance settings.
