DJI Air 3 w/ Hanatora antenna range booster test
Second test flight with Hanatora antenna range extender. Some say it doesn't work, but it's been amazing for me so far! 4435 feet in an urban environment and still had 5 bars of signal.

I know many have said the antenna booster doesn't work, but it gave me about 75% more range in my urban area. I suspect it just depends on your location/area.

A trip back in time to where I got my first job after college. Smithco Engineering back in 1978. I worked at that location about 10 years when we moved to a different location. And I worked for them another 7 or 8 years until a started my own consulting company working from home doing contract work for Smithco. DJI Air 3 October 20, 2024

Bravo! Wonderful And your selection of music alone was nice!
I just ordered this plane.
Nice flying around the neighborhood, Jeff in LA USA
Great flying around the neighborhood. Jeff in LA USA
Doing it from plans is an absolute pain in the ass. Speed build kits seem to be the way to go. I also run mine with a 10" prop so I had to do a lot of modifications to the motor mount, also added 2 carbon fiber wing spars so I lost most of the dihedral on the sport wing. Nicely done.
Great flying and video. Sad to see this property empty. Jeff in LA USA
Yes. Smithco finally moved office, plant and all to Mexico - for cheaper labor. They had been in business here in Tulsa since 1953 and they just fired everybody and moved.
Nice village and beautiful river. I loved the landscape :)
Beautiful back yard :)
nice , i like drone video's myself to
I loved that airplane when they first came out. I’d buy one if they were still available. That and the original Stryker!!!
Yep - they are great planes. I'll still have one I fly from time to time. It was the first RC airplane I ever flew 16 years ago! And I still love this type plane. I hear Stevens Aeromodels has a very similar model - but it's wood... www.stevensaero.com/product/bbm-fk012_bdl/
Looks everything is in place :)
Looks like a fun plane to build and fly. Great video!
Beautiful drone video❤❤❤
So fabulouse and Great video, its very clear filming❤❤❤💫💫💫
Great❤❤❤
Nice and great video❤❤❤and very nic 0:07 e ,beautiful place NEW SUBSCRIBER MY FRIEND
thanks! best -💫
good day, I was interested in your video, please, I would like to ask how these models fly from a hacker company, it does not twist in the air, it is possible to fly precise acrobatics with it, I thank you very much for your answer and thank you for your video, with regards Jan
I live down the street from you in BA. By watching your video, I’m assuming that you have your drone set in FPV mode?
Yeah - I was just playing around with that mode....
That was a nice fly around and around. Jeff in LA USA
That was a great fight. Was that the Festival Park on the other side of the river? Jeff in LA USA
No, I live downstream about 2 miles south from Festival Park. Across the river from me is an industrial area....
Sorry to see the damage, hope no one got hurt? Speedy repairs, Jeff in LA USA
My bed is right under those windows where the limb branch came in, but I had already been up about 30 minutes, and my neighbor's house's damage was over her garage, so nobody got hurt.
I feel your pain, brother.
Damn im sorry that happened to you, doesnt look terribly cheap to fix hopefully the insurance covers it. But at least the largest/heaviest part of the branch seems to have missed both houses and only the smaller branches carried by the weight of the main one is what hit. Youre lucky
Looks like you'll be zipping around FPV style in a short time. Jeff in LA USA
That was a great fight with nice landings. Simple is fun. Jeff in LA USA
Darn, looks like the damage was minimal 😊😂. Jeff in LA USA
Thanks Jeff. It only broke the prop. What I was sweating out were the lamp posts! Those have been "model magnets" to me a few times! ;-)
This looks like such an enjoyable building experience. I'm glad this montage popped up in my feed. Now I want to build another plane.
Thanks! You can't go wrong with one of Bill Steven's kits.....
Great looking bird and fantastic maiden. Jeff in LA USA
Thanks Jeff. This is just a replacement for my old SHAFT that I build 10+ years ago. It finally just got worn out - too many repairs, etc. And it had already been recovered a couple of times.
happy fly with caution!👌
Great flying. Does it automatically block windows? Jeff in LA USA
If you mean the white stripes - that's an over-exposure feature in the DJI Fly App showing regions it thinks will come out too bright. You can toggle it on/off. I need to remember to toggle if off as I don't really care for it much.
Hellcat looks great, ready for action, well done Jeff in LA USA
The only place that could engineer the crankshaft for the Spitfire in Sheffield was a guarded secret in WW2. There is one on display at the Kelham Island museum there.
Fantastic build and great flying on the maiden. Jeff in LA USA
It looks like that Spit flys well. Happy Easter.
Thanks! Same to you!
Thank you for showing this to us!
Great hangar full of fun flying planes, you have a Merry Christmas, Jeff in LA USA
Nice job on this plane. You mention you put in a bigger motor. Can you share what you are using for motor/prop/battery?
Thanks. I ended up with a Cobra C-2213-22 1100KV motor (190 watt on 3S), with a 25 or 35A ESC (can't remember for sure) and a GWS 9x5 prop - and 1800 mAh 3S battery
Mini 3 pro footage looks awesome! How do you like the transition for the mini 2 to the 3 pro? A new a Subscriber
Great tour of the neighborhood. Jeff in LA USA
Nice video. Don't get to use my DroneMask much since I don't have a reliable spotter.
Lol....still flying my old gws beaver!! It's fullmof glue, tape, dollar store foam board and still flies great!! I bought it in kit form about 25 years ago. Still stock motor and onlyrecent upgrade is I put a spektrum receiver in it so i can fly it with my dx7....no more 72mhz although it still works perfectly (old jr 4 channel). Lol....I only just converted it for convenience but I could still fly 72mhz if i wanna haul the huge antenna out with me.
I did the same thing with the mini corsair but stuck them in the spar then cut 2 pieces of scrap to cover up wing tips like they should be. Good strength and looks better.
I've read they purposely leave the convex wing tips on the Simple Series - supposedly helps with tip stalls.
Great flight, like the added location highlights, Jeff in LA USA
Hello Thunker. I’ve been looking at the DJI mini 3. Very cool video. 👍🏻
Thanks. From what I've heard the Mini 3 has a much better camera, too! And pure vertical shooting.
thanks for the video i am building one as we speak
Great flying around the hood, looks like it would be a fun one to fly, Jeff in LA USA
😂 hello neighbor 😂l live by the Arkansas River as well...
nice flight buddy!
I love that Cub ( built 2 of them) not a big fan of how it fly's???
Well, that was just my first outing with it so I'm still getting it tweaked in. But so far it didn't to seem to fly nearly as stable and smooth as my FT Simple Stick. That's my favorite FT plane I've built so far. I think the short tail coupling on the cub might have something to do with it. But by the end of my session I was getting more used to it.
I did move the gear forward TOO@@thunker4603
