I have used the PVC sheet secondary glazing in a cold flat I lived in many years ago. It is surprising how much heat it can keep in, even though it is only a thin sheet of clear plastic! (And yes, I know that it is the layer of still air that's providing the insulation before anyone comments! 😄)

I just came across your channel and it brings back lots of memories. Thank you. Many years ago I lived in Bulbourne and particularly enjoyed the peace of walking along the Aylesbury arm, although I remember it being much wilder then, in the mid-1980s.

Electric blanket with a hot water bottle. Not a good combination.

My wife & I put the thicker plastic film over our windows 🪟 in Alaska...even on the gas filled triple pained windows.

Very sensible and good advice.

I would like to advise being in the know my friend that hot air heating is a damp heat which causes mould and condensation! But your solid fuel burner weather logs or coal is a dry heat. Did you know that daily we breath out 3 cups of water which has nowhere to go which adds to condensation more so when the heating goes off. But we have to breathe of course. If you have a microwave boil your water for tea etc in that and cook veg! 👍

We have perspex panels which we attach to the windows with magnetic strips to create double glazing. They work really well and are easily removed if needed :)

After watching your latest video, I'm now catching up on your earlier videos about. Living near a canal (Leeds and Liverpool) I've always loved watching all tge narrowboats tootle back and forth along the canal. Though I can honestly say that I've never yearned to live on one........probably my fear of water has a lot to do with that 😂
