"I like your style, dude"
Awesome 👍
That looks like a great day. Almost makes me want to bring my jet boat up there
Getting pretty cold up here…. Makes me wanna bring my boat down there!
"I dont have much for reverse right now" Dude thats great!
What river is that?
Little su. Millers to Sherock Bridge. Much of the year it’s nearly impossible for a large boat. Water is pretty high right now.
Thanks for vid what type comm. System brand ect. Thanks
It's a cobra marine MRF77B radio. I wired a female audio adapter to the external speaker wires, then I can plug in the Walker Razor earmuffs to the radio. Works super good. Much more clear and better range than the expensive Bluetooth sets. And doesn't run out of battery.
That steep ramp is the only reason I never tried that river and even with a winch on my truck I gave up the ideas to try to launch there. I build my own jets boats, and I have a new one in my head that I am saving one of them Chevrolet 140 Hp MerCruiser engines for this jet boat project. I am going to use a 6-degree V bottom with the bottom back end will have a 15-inch-wide flat in the V in the 6 degree that runs forward for some 8 feet to get proper water feed for jet intake, I should be able to do streams like that.
Sounds like a winner.
@@RichardNateMiller Thanks / my current jet boat is on the design of the Wille predator only built it to be 30 feet long - 6-2 wide bottom - 8-6 at the beam and powered by a 1969 Chevrolet 402 Big block that left GM at 425 Hp and now is 60 over pistons and 2x larger carb than GM had on the motor - the jet pump is a Berkeley JC with the improved drive shaft installed the stainless 3 blade inducer impeller in front of the main impeller and what a change to how the pimp works. The next pump-up grade is going to be a slot boil & drop snoot to put water force all into the water and reduce the water blown on the surface and then an electric shift. I sell unguided moose hunts with camps at the forks of the Yenta R or in the Tanana R area, so I need a jet boat for transport camp gear with the less amount the travel to get all the gear to camp. As for fishing I offer fishing on the Gulkana R and Kutina R which you should try the Gulkana R it is loaded with Chinook and Sockeye - Steelhead & large Rainbows. Your boats would work great to reach the Tbay River up the Chitna R about 3 miles run for nonstop Chinook on catching! The Tbay R flows into the Chitna R on a bend at the bottom is a left side round clear water pool chuck full of brought Chinook that eat eggs under a bobby as fast as the eggs sink under the bobber. Other ways to fish here is anchor above the pool then soak eggs in the blending water of clear and glacier water because many salmon are here also. The Chinook are already here just before dipnet season starts in the Copper R and they are chrome bright with dark lavender backs of the salmons Ocean colors
Your boat sounds like it packs a load up some skinny water. I wouldn’t wanna be pushing that thing tho! Thanks for the recommendation. I’ll be internet scouting that area all winter!
@@RichardNateMiller I had a shop that sews canvases make me a large like parachute bag that 4 corners a rope connects on, and it is use in case of grounding to rope to the boat and let the river current fill the canvas bag full of water and the power of the current pulling the parachute bag full of water pulls the boat to deeper water. Water current is so strong if the boat is facing upriver to the current the canvas bag fills with water and massive water weight and current pulls the bow of the boat down river starting the pulling effect on the boat to move on the gravel bar stuck on. I now have built a winch connection on the front of the boat, and I have a new Electric 18.000-pound pull winch for if getting grounded stuck. Yes, the jet boat can carry massive loads and runs over 4 inches of water loaded, just give the Big Block 402 gas and it is smoking fast up or down river. Past lake creek from the Yentna during moose season some areas of the river are down to 4-inch-deep water for a long way. Where my Moose camp is at the forks of the Yentna R that becomes 4-inch water for 200 yards. The odd thing is a beautiful house is there may be a fishing lodge?? At the house is a small stream that runs into the Yenta R which is loaded with dead rotting salmon
@@RichardNateMiller With these smaller jet boats you own I can also recommend a river many miles up the copper from the Gulkana R and like all tributaries of the copper R they have salmon so look on an atlas map of Alaska is how I found the river on far side of the Copper R that stream has smaller clear water streams you will see salmon just packed in together. Down river from the Kutina R many don't know the Bison often roam the banks of the Copper River and tags do go out for them
Is the Mercury V6 reliable ?
If you take care of it. It will last a long time. Early model 240’s and 175’s had some issues. But later than 2012 they are very reliable. Additionally some were put in 4000lb boats where it doesn’t preform well there. It’s about the perfect motor for a 2000-3000lbs jet boat.

Can you show your recovery gear in detail? Or demo using it? I have the rope puller and blue steel rope but not the aluminum rod.
I have wanted to put something together for a while, problem is when we're stuck, I always forget to turn on the camera. We used it to pull logs out of the way on this trip. th-cam.com/video/7DNU3MYB8F0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=RXrTeW979wGg-2oF
is this the portion that goes from tustamena lake to the lake (glacier lake?)closer to the glacier??
Yea. We went from the lake to the glacier. I didn’t get much good footage of the river. Mostly because it was really gnarly and took all my attention. Especially in the first part of the river.
not being very descriptive...had to use google earth to figure out where you were at..looks like you might of went from tustamena lake up to that small lake(glacier lake?) am i correct?? thanks for the vids

Nice!!!
I was glued to the screen the entire time! Fantastic job! 👍
Glad you enjoyed it!

Great set up.
Thanks!
What motor are y'all running? Sounds like a sportjet. Any upgrades to pump or motor?
Yep. 200 Optimax sportjet. Stainless sleeve. High skew impeller.
That's a dream boat, hard to beat the old flat bottom alumaweld I have out here on the Mckenzie and willamette though
Oh yea! Right boat right mission. It’s getting there, not whacha drivin.
Thrashing beautiful areas like this should result in prison
Most definitely not thrashing. It’s one of my favorite places in the world and we’re gonna make sure it stays beautiful. Hashtag “don’t thrash Alaska”….
VERY nice! What is the function of the boat? Search and rescue or fishing or speed or ??

Unfortunately it’s the opposite. There is a signal beacon that sends a message. Loosely translated in space alien to “probe me”.
Sweet.

love that boat. to bad they only made yours like that if i remember correctly
@@user-ju3ns2cz1u I know of one other that is pretty similar. But I think most of their boats are tailored in some way to the owners needs.
I called awhile back . And they said this something they really don’t do anymore. I think motojet would . But the cost now a days is more than your average red neck can spend . The hopes of finding a used one in need of some swet Equity. Is about zero. So I will dream on ! And live Vicariously through your videos lol cost less too lol.
@@user-ju3ns2cz1u I got a similar message last year about a new 17 RMX. Motojet is likely the ticket when the time comes to build a another one. Mercury deciding to stop making the sportjet is a bummer. Fortunately, there are still a few good options for a guy looking for a used 17' sportjet with UHMW bottom. More in Canada than USA, but still findable.
Face book market place Can and good place to search?
You should do another walk through but not rush it. I dig this boat of yours, would like to know more about it
@@beneby7612 Prolly won’t. Maybe a few shorter ones that show modifications that could help other boaters. I don’t like doing this, makes me feel like a used car salesman.
Where is this? It looks like the 20-mile. What glacier did you make it to?
Yes sir. It is the Twentymile. Water was pretty high and flowing fast. On the way down I knocked a big rock that is usually fully visible.
Do you find the glass hard to read water when running really shallow small rock river?
I prefer the windshield. Mostly read by braille….. no inhibition to visibility.
Deffently more Teflon and your golden
@@Roman-qs7md maybe. I was able to see that rock a little better this year at lower water. It’s actually two rocks and the side damage was much worse than the bottom. It’s a gnarly 2 miles of river that has eaten a healthy diet of aluminum and plastic!
@@RichardNateMiller no worries we all hit rocks definitely some places in the river if rocks could talk claim there fame of river boat pain... I find those aluminium rakes on the bottom kinda rock magnet sometimes... Nice when boat is sliding sideways but not great when they get hit they bite hard
When you're moving LOG JAMS in a river, you know you're hard-core!
Living the Dream looks nice river boating there
lol yeah they bite teflon helps but it still hurts best reply ever lol
@@regconrad7783 that one still hurts a little. At least that one was rightly earned.
What length is this boat?
17 bow to transom
@@RichardNateMiller awesome thanks I’m looking at getting something like this built and I’m curious about a few things like how much horsepower are you running? And what does it cost for a day for you to run this boat? 300/500? For fuel?
200hp sportjet 7.5-10 Gallons per hour 1 gallon of $50 per gallon oil every 35 gallon used. (Two stroke)
They stopped making the motor recently. For a midsized boat you would likely to go with the eco tech Indmar or an SVHO from Yamaha.
@@RichardNateMiller Awesome Thank you Richard! Can’t wait to get started🤠
OMG! Those boats you waked super close! I bet they were so pissed they turned purple! Did they chase you down and threaten to kick your ass? th-cam.com/video/rfe1XtaIBoY/w-d-xo.html
Haha. Funny thing. Those are all professional guide boats. I’ve asked several of them about waking their boats and they all laugh. Spring and fall you have to come in on step. If the boats aren’t tough enough for a little wake they won’t last very long guiding on that river!
I was wondering how you have your winch set up on your trailer to pull off and on your boat? I saw the video you pull your boat off in your garage. Love the boat nice size and cool color.
I just run the bow line back to a pulley near the back of the trailer. Then tie off to my trailer winch and start cranking. The pulley allows the trailer winch to pull the boat off the trailer. I am going to upgrade the trailer winch to a 3500lb very soon. Currently I use a portable capstan to get the boat back on the trailer. Saves me the strain.
Someday, you're going to have to do a walk-thru (or updated because I haven't looked through all of your vids yet) of your boat
That’s a good idea. Maybe I can put something together soon.
@@RichardNateMiller I would love a walk around video of the boat
Nice "ramp." What you should do is fly the drone low over rocks, then superimpose your bow on the bottom of the frame so it looks like your boat is running over the rocks. Maybe add some bumping to make it more realistic.
Or I could just record the part where we do hit the rocks! Unfortunately I can never find brain space to think of the camera in those moments….
Have fun Nate but don't forget hockey😂
Great footage. I'm interested where this is, how far up the river you went, some general background would really boost this vid. Thanks for posting, good to see jet boats in far away lands
Thanks! Placer River in southcentral Alaska. Its only about a 15-mile river from the ocean to Spencer glacier. Snowmelt is late this year so it's a bit lower than average.
That boat have plastic on the bottom? Sure looks like it moves

That build is prob great for mountain territory protection from the rain
Yea. Spoiled. Happy in bad weather.

Haha. Yea. I’m just not strong enough to push a SBC off a rock bar!
What kind of boat is this center council neat build
Thanks! It’s a 17’ Riddle Marine built in Idaho.
I have only been a short distance up Willow Cr then chickened out scared there was at that time a scab Illegal guide upriver running an Illegal guided service and using a Hugh North River jet boat so the thought of a meeting between the boats changed my mind to go any further. Just weeks later that scab Illegal guide had his boat crushed with clients on board when the idiot tied up to a rotten cotton wood tree than fell on the boat and clients at Lake Creek and that ended his illegal guiding. I really like the Kashwitna R when opened to fish it is chuck full of salmon and the moose hunting is fantastic.
Good to know. Never been up Kashwitna. But will have to do a t some point.
love this boat, but will likely end up with a wooldridge. much easyer to find
Whatever gets you on the water! Seen nice wollys out there too.
whats the verdic on UHMW bottom of the king fisher? is it serviceable? is it holding up and is it worth it?

Man, I’m looking into buying an extreme shallow type boat. I have big V8 inboards but I’d like to go places I wouldn’t dream of taking my Big block. I really like your boat, what did it run you cost wise set up like this from Riddle? Full custom build from them? Or do they make a specific RMX17 with your top and cabin and everything?
