Restoration Old German Hand Drill - Restore It Project [FULL]
Restoration of an old German made hand drill. I've bought this old hand held drill at a garage sale for 30 euro and, as usual, i wanted to restore it.
I really enjoy restoring old rusty object, it's something that gives me satisfaction! And as you can see i really enjoy hand held drill as I've made two videos on them, but I promise my upcoming restoration videos will be on different items!
Although i'm not a pro i really enjoy doing restoration stuff, restoring objects brings back to new life something which was, usually, extensively used in the past, which has history with it and that's quite fascinating to me! So i really hope you enjoy this restoration video and like it so i can get some more motivation, so please if you do enjoy it subscribe to the restore it project channel and give me a thumb up!
Any comment welcome and much appreciated!
This restoration video is quite long and i had to shrink every passage to the bones, for this reason I totally skipped the "testing" section at the end.. hope you don't mind and trust me that the drill works perfectly!
I’d like to improve and grow my channel by buying better equipment (camera, lights, pc, editing software, tools) so if you enjoyed the videos and feel like donating here is my paypal link paypal.me/RestoreItProject

It's worth restoring because it's Metric, and the dial is practically brand new. That saved you a bunch of time and trouble. Beautiful restoration, it looks like Mum had just gone down the shop and bought it that day.

Yeah, you're right, it's the higher gear ratio making it harder to turn. 00:43 Should all come good after the restoration. Very good. Put a nut on the crank shaft, a knurled thumb nut would be a nice touch. 👍

Beautiful restoration. I've always thought turning wood on a metal work lathed was just as good, if not better than using a wood turning lathe. That was a marvelous job on that wooden head piece, better than new. Thank you for this video, I'm gathering tips on how to restore my bit brace when the time comes. These braces are some of my favorite tools, great to use. Cheers.

Personally, I would have restored the original knob, instead of replacing it with a new one, made of inferior wood. It would have only really required some good epoxy and a decent clamp.

Hi, I have similar drill that belongued to my grandpa. I was hoping you'd open the chuck too. I think mine must be missing a spring or something, because the jaws tend to fall lose inside the hood. Is there a spring there?

I have one of these breast drills, mighty fine drill very robust too. I use most of my old hand tools everyday as I work at my home so my tools are just cleaned and maintained to me it doesn't matter if the paint is chipped or how shiny they are but, I love watching these restoration videos to see how other people tackle there own views on restoration.

Good quality video. I’m not a fan of videos without narration. It would be nice to know your choice of cleaning solvent and grease although for this job most any general purpose grease is good. The choice to put the wire wheel in the drill press is good since it runs much slower than a bench grinder.

First time I saw a clay-like material used for masking. Great idea. Only thing I would have done differently would have been to make the covers Poppy Red. Too many black tools.
