I'm about to buy a property in France and am interested about the structural aspect, as you say, they don't have a structural diagnostic report. Who would I ask to do this, an artisan/builder or an architect? And do I need an architect in place to start an renovation works as I've read conflicting information about needing to apply for a permit to do structural work as the property would need to become a "building site" almost, is this true or can I start the work without a permit or an architect?

I just discovered your video and it shows exactly what are about attempt in our house in Tours. My main question is: Why didn’t you simply install the plasterboards directly over the tiles? What was the reason for removing all the tiles if you were going to cover the entire wall in plasterboard anyway? I'm considering doing just that-putting plasterboard directly on top of the tiles-since I suspect the tile adhesive in our kitchen contains asbestos, and I’d prefer not to disturb it. However, I’m unsure if there’s a specific reason you chose not to place the plasterboard over the tiles and go to the effort of removing them all.

Kirsty is wonderful when she is sopped to visit with Stephanie at Chateau Diaries and a wonderful worker and you can see she loves wht she does! She lovs animals and he grounds and she is a 'natural ' it seems. It is noce to see wher she livesand she is a lovely person! Thank you for this focus on the home in rural France of someone quite familiar to me!! It was lovely to see Kirsty at home with her dogs, sheep, duck, geese and chickens.
