Am I an ascetic? Why focusing on what really matters means beeing a minimalist
A rant about asceticism and minimalism, about the dangers of anouncing instead of acting, and my commitment to a minimalistic lifestyle, which includes the goal of owning only about 100 things. Materialism and consumerism lead to unhappiness and suffering.
I am felini, the numba one anti influencer who does pull ups every day and eats lentils every day (or at least aspires to do it). I manifest, therefore it will be true.

    Hey man. I wish you good luck with this challenge/expriment. I hope you manage to make some new healthy habits by sticking to this lifestyle change for long. David Goggins is one of the guys I really admire/look up to in this regard, as he is sort of known as the pinnacle of mental strength/fortitude and a master of discipline. Check him out maybe if you feel like it and have the time, in case you have not heard of him, yet. His message did nothing but improve the quality of my life in every aspect. The way he phrases it is motivation is useless. It is easy to be motivated when things are going well in our lives, when we are comfortable. During the planning phase everything makes sense and everything is ideal. But motivation can only take you so far. After a certain while you need to develop mental strength and discipline for those days when you encounter obstacles, when bad stuff happens in our lives, etc. He believes that is the only way of sticking to something relatively uncomfortable long-term. There are all these rules of if you manage to do something new for 21 days, you can make it a habit, but in my experience all it takes is one bad day to lose the streak and the purpose alongside of it. The way I would go about it, is I would really think it through, maybe even write down, why I wanna make this change happen, what are the benefits. Once those have been identified, one needs to work on this daily. Identifying the potential obstacles, such as bad habits that were created throughout the past few years, decades. Sadly in this day and age laziness is way too big of a part of our everyday lives. So many times we choose what is comfortable, taking the so-called path of least resistance and by doing so miss out on so many great oppurtunities for changing our lives for the better. I have one final note regarding the screentime. I do believe it is important to avoid screentime as much as possible, both right after waking up and right before going to bed. I consider this the number one biggest obstacle in building discipline. Especially the activity called doomscrolling, that most of us tend to do on youtube, instargram, tiktok, reddit, etc. Mindlessly scrolling through stuff with no real purpose behind it, other than trying to entertain ourselves and spend time. Sorry for the monologue, thank you if you have taken the time to read all this. Good luck for your journey, I am excited to see you succeed! :)

      I did read your entire comment, it's full of value nugget! I do know David Goggins, he is really a tough guy lol. Doomscrolling is without a doubt the biggest enemy for a fulfilling life, I agree. That's why starting the day with silence and no screens is very important, I guess. Thank you, I'll definately need alot of discipline, and knowing WHY I do it, ist probably the most important thing that will motivate me / remind me why I WANT to be disciplined! I hope you also improve your life by building more and more helthy habits :) I'll keep yout updated about my "5am project"!

    You look like you’re about 25 years old, and I didn’t know what I was gonna think of your video until I watched it. I was pleasantly surprised that you have (very) good form when doing pull-ups, and that was very impressive, especially at the speed at which you did them! I definitely won’t be surprised that you’ll be able to suppress that in no time as long as you stay healthy. My own personal best doing them the same way you did except I did them at a faster pace was 25 pull-ups when I was about 20 years old, and only weighed 130 pounds. I’m now 67 years old, and weigh a lot more than that, but with that being said, I wish you good luck, because I expect you to pass 25 pull-ups in no time.✨

    • @iamfelini
      @iamfelini หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for appreciating my form and the high time under tension. 25 pull ups is no joke either, respect! And I feel like "fast" reps aren't necessarily that much easier. Yeah, I think 25 pull ups is possible for me if I keep training regularly. I hope you still are doing pull ups!

    How many years do u train?

    • @iamfelini
      @iamfelini 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have been doing pull ups (1-80, most of the time less than 25) every day for the last 120 days. Before that, I had a period of about 4-5 months without doing pull ups. Before that, I achieved a streak of 400 days in a row doing pull ups (1-365, most of the time at least 30, on avergae 50-60.) tldr: I have been training without consistency for 10+ years, mostly pull ups, push ups and running. On average (for the last 10+ years) I trained 2-3 months okayish and had about 9-10 months of no training. That's why I'm extremely focused on beeing constisten now. I don't care if I only do 1 single pull up in an entire day. I MUST TO at least ONE PULL UP EVERY DAY NO MATTER WHAT. Of course, I do try to increase the intensity and volume of my strength and endurance training!

    That's insane, chest to bar, perfect form, and slow descent, on a large circumference bar. You would easily do like 25-30 with a narrower grip, narrower bar, and only going chin to bar and not going slow on the way down.

    • @iamfelini
      @iamfelini 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      25-30 reps would be very impressive. It is very tough phsyically and mentally to do so many pull ups. I'll make about me trying to max out reps!

      32 reps are impressive! Improving volume and or intensity consistently is what matters, and doing a high amount of reps also makes you very strong and triggers hypertrophy for sure! If I keep beeing consistent I'll build more muscle. Let's see.

    • @iamfelini
      @iamfelini 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      my pull up quality and quantity definately outperform the way my physique looks :D The last 3-4 reps I noticed how my form did break down a bit. Wasn't able to touch the bar with my lower chest there. Anyways, I'm pretty sure my physique will "improve" soon too, if I keep consistently increasing my volume/intensity of strength and endurance training. What matters to me ist the commitment to strength and cardio training every day, no matter what. Consistency over years and decades > a flashy one month "transformation". It's about the lifestyle! And about reaping the psycological and physical benefits of training every day! I hope I can inspire you and others to do pull ups and run every day.
