@@robleach1921 You pretty much nailed it. The building was a big loop....well technically 2 big loops. The ail pulled by those fans would travel back to the front through passages on each side of the building that were massive. At one point there was a large flow strainer to make air even more consistent, but the cost in speed loss outweighed the quality gain. The risk was there that debris could fall off of test subjects and damage the blades. Which did happen. As a matter of fact, the last 20+ years the tunnel was in operation there were no more spare blades and operated one mistake away from shutting down for good.

@@GwynethDawn I am apocalyptically delayed on my distraction with other projects. However, the last pull I did after removing the exhaust and finding out that that was the source of my crazy issues, it accomplished 248 RWHP with only 28° of total timing and no AFR numbers (due to exhaust being hastily removed). And yeah I know this was years ago. I just haven't gotten back around to it. It runs well enough to tow and do all the jobs. I need it so it's hard to justify putting time on it. Though I actually am converting it to EFI so the next time I go on a dyno I should be able to cover all my bases and find out what it can really do.

Too high a compression ratio to run regular premium. e85 wouldn't do too much either, maybe 5hp or so. Maybe it could do more, but the vintage Mikuni PHH44 carburetors are not compatible with e85. I have a feeling as old as the fuel was, it wasn't too bad, I mean it did put down 182 so how bad can it really be??

Thats sick!!! I grew up on 20r, 22r. The first engine I ever modified was a 22r with a modified head with o/s valves, adjustable timing gear, high compression pistons, 270 rv cam from this guy in oregon called enginbldr we would put an Aasco 11pound billet flywheel with an action clutch 6 puck disc and that 22r had torque it would rev to 6500 rpm chirp the wheels all the way to 3rd gear and pull you back in your seat! I doubt it even made anything more than 130-140hp but it was peppy and fun Good times. Love your build and keep that 22r alive!!! Haha

They are pulling air into them. The building was designed so the test section is in front of the fans, this prevents turbulence from the fan blades affecting the test area.

What camshaft is it? If it's still a stock cam, that is the next step. To carry power past 6000 though you really won't see much gain until you do some head work.

@@JohnnieLackeyRacing I don't know man, It was already put together when I bought it. I think it's just an "RV" cam as I've heard it called. I need to pull the valve cover. I don't know if they changed the rockers or anything. I've put 20,000 miles on the engine that had been built before I got it. No leaks, doesn't burn a drop.

@@bigchriscooks1371 Yeah, if it's an RV cam you definitely need to change that to a higher revving camshaft. A good stage 2 camshaft will do wonders!
