I'm relatively new to collecting coins / currency and decided a couple of years ago to focus on colonials. I love the history and beauty and rarity of these objects. Thank you for posting this informative video.

Interesting video. I remember when the Whitman book was published, they came out with an addendum soon after. Seemingly minor problems could be major when it comes to placing the wrong photo to Text, and that’s where The coin people and press people really have to get together to verify certain edits or do a second edit before publishing because the guys working the prices don’t collect coins, if something is going to be printed out of place, they don’t know a Connecticut from Vermont. It’s almost as if on addendum is mandatory. But it must be a little heartbreaking to see one or two errors that got through, no matter how many times you know that they are going to happen. Still looking forward to getting this book somewhere. It is a very specialized area so unlike the Whitman book, it may have gotten through clean. People are still trying to sell the the 1777 “gilt” 1/2d as a MM product Even though the addendum to Whitman is readily available. I will forward to reading this as I said, to see how they handled the spread planchet and die states of the Vlack 21-87D. Will be interesting to see if they did any work on the names or pretty much kept Vlack as part. Were non-MM totally removed? I’ve said it before, and I’ve told him privately as well as anyone else who would listen publicly, I thought Syd Martin’s books set the new bar as far as organization. That doesn’t mean that someone writing a book has to put in such an in-depth history as well as all the other extras that come with the Syd Martin books, but I think it’s his computer background or software background that gave his books structure. I think that goes back to the old structure programming where every program has the exact same structure no matter what it did and the only difference would be in the procedure division and what was in the Data division but it makes reading and understanding every subsequent book easy because they are all identically laid out.

Excellent video. 18th century coinage will forever be my favorite. I just added a 1776 halfpenny to my collection!
