The Farrowing Process: Serving part 2b
This video is a snippet of Chapter 8 of the Stockman's Handbook. In this chapter we discuss the importance of understanding farrowing as a process which has distinct stages.
In today's lesson, I slowly explain what happens inside and outside the pig during the process of serving. The stockman needs to appriciate that Serving is very central to individual sow productivity and sow proficiency.
Once the farmer understands the dynamics of serving, it becomes easier to manage the proceeding stages of the farrowing process.

@@porczim6944 yes yes, As a starter who only started with 2 sows recently I had noticed the costs of keeping the boar as you alluded to but instead I didn’t opt for the AI, technical skills amd also transporting semen to Karoi being the main disadvantages. I however opted to borrow a boar from a close friend for a few days (I actually moved my sows to his farm when they went on heat. The costs are very minimal but then I’m not sure about transportation will it also not affect litter size.
