    I am a lifelong Gator. This was the first Gator game that I attended and I was 16 at the time. All I can remember about the game all those years ago was that Florida won and the only play that I can remember was when Fee laid out Todd Kinchen. I decided to search and see if by chance the video was on here and it was. Thanks for posting.

    I lived in Orlando at the time and was listening to this game on the Gator Football Network when there was an overpowering noise lasting for a few seconds followed by the announcers yelling and screaming about how low that plane was. According to them, it passed by at the height of the press boxes, right in front of them. The plane was a B-25 Mitchell twin engine medium bomber which was the same plane used by Jimmy Doolittle's men in their raid on Tokyo and a couple of other Japanese cities in early 1942. They launched those planes from an aircraft carrier which was quite a feat in itself.

    Adrian Dantley was traded after the season to the Jazz, thus missing out on winning the championship with the the Lakers in 1980. Dantley was also traded from Detroit to Dallas during the 1989 season, missing out on another title, this one with the Pistons.

    The perimeter of the Sonics went 10 years in advance. And what a shame that the Lakers choose Wilkes instead of Dantley. Dantley was quite crazy but one of the best players ever (and I read now, in 2023, that he is economical problems).

    the passing from magic johnson didn't equal the scoring from kareem abdul-jabbar so just imagine if the 1980 1982 and 1987 finals mvp's were awarded to kareem abdul-jabbar

      Magic deserved those MVP's. Kareem didn't win anything without Magic or Oscar. Magic took the Lakers to the finals with Vlade Divak at center. There's more to it than scoring, i.e. Bill Russell.

It didn't matter because Magic got everyone the ball at the right time, etc. and ran that offense to a T.

    please tell me how you all feel about me asking what if jeff van gundy lenny wilkens larry brown don nelson phil jackson and/or red auerbach were the head coaches of the legendary kareem abdul-jabbar

    • @rockaway2k
      @rockaway2k ปีที่แล้ว

      Brown, Jackson, and Auerbach would be instrumental in Kareem’s greatest success. They would be the best coaches for Kareem. Nelson ran too many gimmick lineups and seemed to be too cute for his own good, never got the feeling that Wilkens was driven to win titles, though winning beat losing. Van Gundy was good, but he seemed more regular season level coach, a la Del Harris, than he did a major titleist. I don’t know if I’d deem Van Gundy a real player developer either. I would even add Hubie Brown to the mix of coaches Kareem would flourish under. He is one of the great basketball minds of all time.

    I was middle school aged, visiting my older brother who was a student there with my parents. I was never a huge football fan, and I remember that the game was what is often described as a “defensive contest”, IE boring. Then suddenly there was the sound of aircraft engines that were way, WAY louder than the regular sky banner planes that are always circling near the stadium during games. Then that B-25 came screaming into the stadium. In my memory it was lower than the box seats on the west stands. Years later when I went to UF after the North End Zone stands were built, I often thought about that day. I was talking to my fiancé about this last night, because we went to the Museum of Flight at Boeing Field earlier this week. This is the first time I’ve seen video of that. I keep hoping that I find a photo or video that shows how low that plane was, but it happened so fast. Seems like this is as good as I’ll ever find. Thanks for posting

    This is a **travesty** . I love me some Duke Wayne movies. I'm a combat veteran and my 'patriot' credentials are in good order. But using a dead man's image to schill a modern product [for example, using Fred Astaire to sell vacuum cleaners, fer fuck's sakes] is not only a violation of an honored name, but it is also their less successful and less talented progeny trying to make one more buck off their dad while he's too dead to object. If Marion Morrison wanted to sell beer in his lifetime, that was his decision to make. And I honestly don't know if he ever did or not. But NOT, by-God, after he's been in his grave for 30 years.
