    Dr Nagarkatti Instead of spending time judging who is foolish or wise, can we conclude that the Bhagavad Gita is not meant for teaching others, but rather for self-improvement and personal fulfillment?

    • @Bhagawad-Geeta

      Dear @vinaysinghal2853 Bhagawad Geeta is not for judging and criticizing others. It's to avoid conflict in one's life, which Lord Krishna himself is warning his devotees. We need to observe others with correct view, we shouldn't complicate our life. By sharing this knowledge to Lord Krishna's devotees, it will strengthen our faith and ensure our spiritual progress. You shouldn't preach to those who argue.

  • @vinaysinghal2853

    Dr Nagarkatti I find a contradiction in verse 9.4 where it says all being dwells within me but in 9.5 it says all being not in me. Please help me understand this.

    • @Bhagawad-Geeta

      Please refer to next two verses 9.6 and 9.7. Lord Krishna is achintya (inconceivable) and avyaktha (beyond our senses). His body is a spiritual body. When He incarnates in an apparently human form it looks like nothing is pervaded by him. He says I am doing two things simultaneously I am pervading the universe and yet I am standing in front of you, Arjuna. This is through my mystic opulence (yoga aiswaryam)

    • @vinaysinghal2853

      @@Bhagawad-Geeta But why does 9.4 it is said "but I do not dwell in them" what is the significance of this phrase?

  • @vinaysinghal2853

    Dr Nagarkatti, please help me understand that as Sankhya and Vedanta are referred to as two different philosophies and you have mentioned that Vedanta supersedes Sankhya, then what is the significance of having two different thoughts. Why can not it be looked at as one single thought? It sometimes gets quite confusing.

    • @Bhagawad-Geeta

      Sankhya describes the Universe is composed of Purush and Prakriti. In the Bhagawad Geeta , these are subsumed to the higher reality of a universal ground - Brahman. This is the syncretic fusion of Sankhya with Vedanta. Lord Krishna, then declares He is the (pratishtha) source of Brahman. Once you have realized this you will be no longer in delusion.

  • @vinaysinghal2853

    Dr Nagarkatti, thanks for bringing this very confusing still but very profound understanding to us. Please help me understand, if Prakriti is the beholder of all jeevatma and has given birth, why it is suggested to transcend the same to get salvation?

    • @Bhagawad-Geeta

      The Supreme Purusha impregnates the totality of Prakriti (Mahat Brahm) to produce innumerable Jivatmas and innumerable living entities. Each is an infinitesimal Jivatma embodied with its own Prakriti. In illusion the Jiva struggles with his Prakriti (mind and 5 senses). By surrendering to God, the Jiva gets relief by transcending Prakriti ( Jeevan mukti). Through absorption in the Lord at the time of leaving one body for another (death), the Jivatma returns to the Supreme Purusha (videha mukti) instead of continuing his union with Prakriti.

    Dr Nagarkatti, as you described scripture disdain too much or too little sleep, but does it prescribe hours of sleep and other daily routines like how much and frequency of fasting, etc.

    • @Bhagawad-Geeta

      Bhagawad-Geeta neither recommends fasting (eating too little) or feasting (eating too much). Both interfere with the efficient performance of one's duty to the highest level of perfection as an offering to Lord Krishna. Bhagwan offers only general principles not details or minutiae.

    Dr Nagarkatti, thanks for clarifying this simple though less understood philosophy of renunciation. But then why does ISKON have a whole set of devotees popularising the culture of shaving the head and putting on an orange robe. Once even I was physically captured by the team when I visited the temple and they encouraged me to become part of the band. Do the people following ISKON not have this enlightenment?
