Exploring Last Dollar Road

Last Dollar Road winds from Telluride all the way to Route 62 near Ridgway, Colorado. It was a mining supply road in the 1800s. It is a bumpy 21 mile drive on a dirt road that takes you through some of the most beautiful and scenic area of Colorado. You get to see the San Juan mountains and the scene of the True Grit movie and Last Dollar Ranch where the Marlboro commercial was filed.
We did the drive in mid-June as it was a bit too early for us to tackle the snow laden alpine loop roads. You will see signs of recent spring rain, wild flower, and lush green grass.
It was a great trip, and we’d do it again.
