That was uniform borrowed from The Anaheim Kingsmen and worn with honor. I just wish there more surviving videos from the Kingsmen that year. (sigh)

Awesome performance. May I ask where you got the uniform from? :-) I marched 76' Troopers and had a blast with the Madison snareline everytime we got together. I even still have my "BALLS" button that one of them gave me. I have several friend who marched 72-74 Kingsmen and in the alumni corps that you probably know. :-)

Never been part of the military. Never spun a rifle. Never worn a uniform. But, there are just some things in this world that exude "badassery", and that performance definitely does! Awesome!

What a great representation of the drum corps activity! Everything is regimented, precise, pristine, but at the same time you can tell the performer is loving every minute of it!

@akac07 - I had no idea you were a Gong Show winner, let alone a Kingsmen alumnus. You may be the only person in the world to have marched in all three of DCI's first champions (even if not in the championship years). Why did we not know about this in MSARP 2006? I think Chuck Barris was on to something when he said you were once "a shy guy".

So you marched 75' Kingsmen? I made the 76' snareline during auditions in the Fall od 75' but alas ended up moving to Casper after AK's demise that year. Was good friends with a couple of Kingsmen, Tommy Tewes, Kevin V and others. Great times to be involved in the sport.

Thank you for taking the time to comment on my Gong Show performance. I marched SCV 1972-1974 in both the Percussion and Horn Lines. Finished out my age out year in 1976 with the Madison Scouts in the Rifle Line. I have had the rare opportunity to relive my drum corps years by performing at DCI in the Vanguard, Madison Scouts and Anaheim Kingsmen Alumni Corps. Those were some awesome years to be a part of the activity. Thanks again for your compliments

Just added your performance and your comment to the Museum of Drum & Bugle Corps History page - because it belongs there. Curious as to why you wore the AK uni - I assume it's the one U were able to get your hands on (and a splendid memory of that great uni - though am not sure the Amazons felt the same way, lol...). All of us VK talked about your being on - at the time.

@@Christbepraised I bumped into this video while watching other GS videos. Your question isn't addressed to me but since I was on the show (th-cam.com/video/w4FBIjV37Mo/w-d-xo.html), I'll answer; Chuck was quite serious about putting on a good show. Though he did joke around some, it was more businesslike as he prepped the acts for the shows to be taped. Five shows were taped on a Saturday to be aired starting 9 days later. 40 acts were invited to be on the 5 shows. He cut 5 acts on that day after 1 more "rehearsal" - we didn't know it was a final audition until he said, "sorry, we can't use you" to those 5 acts. When watching each of the final rehearsal/auditions he would say "third show, 2nd act"; "4th show, 1st act"; "1st show, 6th act". I was 2nd show (Tuesday), 1st act. He never had to ask what spots were remaining, he kept track of each act and where it went in the week of 5 shows. Only when the camera went on, did he morph into "Chuckie".

That whole bit from around 1:09 to 1:14, where he's doing the horizontal "reversals" is just mesmerizing --- I don't think I've ever seen that manoeuvre in an actual show, and I've watched a lot of old-school drum-corps. The man is a *machine*! :-D I'm guessing that goes all the way back to the real "manual of arms" they used to teach in the military (?).
