Just imagining this non threatening looking ghost with a dorky look on their face and yet speaker is still scared due to the sheer shock of them being a literal spirit of a dead person that might’ve been murdered, but I headcanon they accidentally killed themselves due to them being a neurotic person but clumsy and scatterbrained. They were like speaker, had no friends, but due to them having a bit of an unconventional brain wiring, like maybe they were bipolar or something that would generally scare people away from them, maybe they could have ocd which would mean they would do things a certain way because of heightened anxiety. The only reason why they were found dead is because of some of their neighbors getting suspicious they had not been out at the usual times they would be out due to a set schedule. How would they have been accidentally killed? Well, most likely something heavy and sharp like a plate or maybe a stack of them, one of the shards piercing their brain, giving them a slow and painful death bleeding out, and since they usually have no visitors to check up on them they slowly died from being paralyzed and bleeding out. Morbid? Yes, but I’m just speculating who listener was before they became a ghost. So the reason why they were open to having a clingy friend would be because they had none when they were alive, due to no fault of their own, just by having an out of convention personality that was off putting to others but was harmless. I think the listener was a sweet person in life, just that not many people would want to associate themselves with someone who was out of the norm.
