So what happens when a blade comes off? Conventional turbofan engines have to show that they can contain a blade when it detaches. Presumably they don't care what happens with one of these? If you're lucky, the blade won't slice through the cabin like a knife through butter. Then, the out of balance forces are likely to destroy the engine. It doesn't seem like a safe design to me.

If you have to ask who would win between these two, you don't know shit about military aircraft. The F-22 would blow the J-20 out of the sky before the J-20 would even know it was being attacked, every time. The J-20 isn't that stealthy. Better than 4th gen but not up to the 5th gen standards. It's not really a 5th gen. More like a 4.5. The F-22 would see the J-20 long before the J-20 would see the F-22. Let's not forget about the men or women flying each aircraft. The US pilots are the best in the world with many having actual combat experience. Something no one in the entire Chinese military has. The US pilots are the best trained pilots in the world. They could defeat the J-20 flying the F-16, F-15 or F-18. The F-22 and the F-35 would smoke it easily. Not even a contest. The only thing the J-20 has over the F-22 is range. Although range is important, it is the least important compared to everything else. The F-22 has been going through many upgrades the last year or two. So it is even more lethal then it was before. The best got even better. With a radar cross section the size of a bumble bee, the F-22 is pretty much invisible. You can't kill what you can't see. This is not a question about who would win. Anybody with the slightest knowledge of military aircraft knows the F-22 would dominate the J-20. Hell it dominates every aircraft in the sky. When you have the best pilots flying the best aircraft, it's game over for everybody else.

Is this a serious question? J20 would be in AIM260 flames before it even knew it wasn't alone. It has 10 times the RCS of the F22, meaning it would be spotted at twice the distance that it could see the '22 (source: Air Power thinktank)
