That is a really good idea. I've actually worked with magnetic levitation before so it should not be that hard but I just have not had the time. Thanks a lot for the suggestion :)

it would be better you use real printing parts to test it? especially with combing. After I bought a stepper motor dampner, I feel like the largest noises are when hotend moving on the print. Its like a noob playing violin. The noise and vibration are so big, I can feel it in another room. Thou I m going to try ur print, maybe a feedback later.

It is quite soft Filaflex filament, I do not remember the number exactly but it was around 80 Shore.

Thanks a lot :D I tested it by using a microphone inside the table drawer below. This way the table acted as a resonant structure that would amplify the vibrations. I swept the speed to have all the possible "frequencies", to avoid printing around those speed values and to see how effective the dampening strategies are. Good luck with your 3D printer show :D

As of Today I still use it, the springs have proven to withstand the test of time :)

I have been using it for more than two years now and I'm telling you it has changed the way I work. I no longer have to print in complicated angles or huge overhangs, i just print two pieces and solder them together :) Good luck :3

Because in this way, ve varying the filament threading count I can vary the elasticity without needing to reprint every time. This is better to adapt to different weight printers :)

was also my first thought and to use a concrete slab all my creality runs skr silent the prusa is silent by nature all stand on concrete slabs and i don't hear them during normal printing operations

Yup that is the way to go, but it is not as cheap as this 1$ upgrade 😁

I have not seen any detriments in print quality :) I think it is because the thread is elastic but also dampens vibrations quite a lot.

@@marticurie1677 All 3dprinting community try to reduce vibration using hard foam board,or soft rubber mousepads. These legs looks like adding vibration. Try to print something in 0,1 with 0,2 nozzle with the legs and then the same without the legs but by adding a rubber moysepad. Then compare results and you will see the difference. Even if you have a silent board and noctua fans switching DB to minimum you will still need to reduce vibrations for even better quality results.

Fishing knots :O I did not think about them (I used normal ones and the flexible filament is still standing :) probably because of its thickness). I also thought about magnetic suspension but the forces needed are too high, the printer weighs around 10 kg :( Hope you are well as well (Love your Adoring Fan (Oblivion) thumbnail :')
