The reason why they were bringing dogs from other states was because there were natural disasters and people died and their dogs were left behind. The area the dog came from had no resources to be in the area anymore and they did an adoption day to get them new homes. The other ones were rescued from a lab and they got them adopted out to other people. As a commissioner of Geauga Co. he should know this since it was posted on social media. It seems to me that this is a money grab since the shelter isn't on the budget of the county but 100% self-donated run. Geauga Co is a generous county with amazing citizens. And this shelter is the first place they come to when their pet is missing or they want to adopt a pet. The staff is above amazing. They do everything in their power by the book to get these dogs adopted. This shelter also goes out to other overfilled shelters to get these dogs out of the crowd and find them reliable families. EVERY person that has been adopted from the shelter as far as I have seen, has come back to visit the employees and these dogs are in a good place with wonderful families. They know what they are doing and what they are doing right now is working for the staff, county, the dogs, and the citizens. Why stop something that is working for everyone?

Prosecutor Flaiz and Commissioner Dvorak need to be replaced. What a disgrace to Geauga County. This was an ambush by Flaiz and Dvorak for political reasons which have been noted on social media.

So sad this was handled this way, should have been handled in executive session. Get it together guys and work together to best serve the county. Thank you commissioners Spidalieri, and Lennon for their kind words, but they really should have put a stop to it.

We have the authority to fire these elected officials and replace them with people who will serve our interests and stop playing corrupt political games.

The dog warden’s office has been around much longer than these elected officials have been in their positions! These commissioners and the Chardon planning commissikn need to go. They’ve forgotten they work for us!

Wouldn’t their next of kin (who would be one of the first people contacted anyway, right?) be the person to take the dog and find them a home? With the Humane society holding the pet (if needed) until their family picks them up?

Matt has always been professional and assisted me with any questions regarding animals. Just watching this video, it appears to me that Jim Dvorak set Matt up at this meeting and intentionally tried to make him look bad. Good for you, Matt, for having copies of paperwork proving him to be lying. Looks like nothing more than a witch hunt to me. I think a large part of the problem is people, specifically the Sheriff's Department, not knowing which department to contact for different Dog situations. It's amazing to me that public officials are clueless about what the Dog Warden and the Humane officer responsibilities are

Matt, the Dog shelter handles stray dogs. If not a stray, the Dog situation or abuse or neglect situation falls under the jurisdiction of a Humane officer, which is the Humane Society.

The Dog Warden handles stray dogs. The Humane Society handles owner animals.

The sheriff and Matt need to iron out this issue with the dog shelter. The Sheriff needs to lay out the legalities for the unique situations that the Dog Warden faces. Agree no common sense policies, it needs CLEARLY spelled out so that Matt can successfully do his job. Expectations need to be CLEARLY spelled out, better communication is needed.

Does the commissioner practice this aloof poker face for every meeting? Are his lips sealed shut? Or is that just a mouthful of golf balls?

Please shut that hell hole down, I am 40 and I am still traumatized from being thrown in there for literally no reason except my mom was a raging alcoholic and would tell judge Henry I was unruly when I wasn’t so she could stay out all night. He got his karma at least but no children should suffer isolation and torture like I did. Grown men go crazy being locked up 23 hrs a day like I was in there freezing cold w a too small dirty whoop blanket. The water was filthy and I starved every time just so I would be weak enough to sleep as much as I could. I could go on all day about the abuse and neglect I suffered in that hell hole.

What knowledgable voters are going to vote for an increase in property taxes when the inflation is beyond out of control?! Is there no government grant or pandemic funding to increase mental health services in our county? The collection of property taxes is/has been illegal for decades. Stop trying to pass everything onto the taxpayers! Government was designed to serve the people, not the other way around.

This meeting was a disgrace. I am deeply ashamed of the ignorance, self-righteousness, and blind stupidity of what stands for Chardon's "leadership".

Should a County Health Commissioner be posting on social media. No he shouldn't. But frankly Tom Quade is correct, why should I have to pay the bills of people who don't take personal responsibility to get a vaccine to save their own life!?? The vaccine is FDA approved. Personally once Moderna and J&J are fully approved, all insurance companies should stop paying for Covid-19 care for unvaccinated.

My question is how did things get this far? Isn't there a system in place where verbal, written warnings, would have been given prior to this? If in fact this is true, it sounds like a failure on many levels. Who is responsible for those, and how will it be handled going forward?

To be fair, after 18 months of receiving death threats from the citizens of Geauga County for simply doing his job during the worst health crisis in a century, I'd be antagonistic too. Board of Health members should be pro-vaccine, and it's hard to match the anti-vax vitriol with kindness and compassion every time. That Quade still chooses to serve people that are clearly working against him, that undermine him at every turn, and that literally send him threats of violence and murder, is a testament to how even-keeled and level headed he actually is.

I would think any meeting should be open to the public. Seems odd ?

Geauga county is in the top 4.25% of the property taxes paid nationwide. We pay so much that it's hardly missed.

A few observations: 1) This is a good real-time look at how police do traffic/DUI/OVI stops. Fascinating! 2) The Explorer police car is FAST off the line, and, most likely is geared for urban patrol (probably a 3.55 or 3.73 gear) and got the violator in short time. I'm old enough to remember the days where police cars could not pace and overtake speeders and violators. 3) It's good to be cooperative with police. 4) Don't do a field sobriety test while wearing boots with a chunky heel. ;) 5) Glad nobody was hurt! 6) Grateful for the Bainbridge PD officers who kept us safe--they need to get the drunks off the road. What if she had hit and killed someone?
