Have you ever tried the famous Spanish omelet, or as it is known in Spain, tortilla de patatas? It's an omelet made of potatoes and olive oil-poached onions...and I ate it every day while I was on the Camino de Santigo. Tortilla is eaten for breakfast, lunch, dinner or as a snack, making it one of the most versatile dishes in the world. Hope you enjoy and let me know if you make it! New Videos ...

Your packing and review videos are really helpful - awesome tip about taking your own bag to do the laundry in! Where did you get the black clip/hook from?
Thank you 😊! It's a Heroclip Carabiner by Gear Aid. I believe I got at MEC. You should be able to get it at most Sports/Outdoor adventure shops and Amazon also has it or you can order directly from Gear Aid in the US.
I am walking in Sept this year. Is a sleeping bag needed? Or is a liner sufficient?
I think you'll get a variety of answers. It was quite hot when I walked in September, but I was really glad I had my sleeping bag. Some nights it gets cold especially into late September/October
Lovely hike my friend, trail looks really beautiful!
@@ervinslens thank you 😊
Thank you for sharing your hike with us. There were some amazing views. I look forward to your cooking videos as well. Again, Thank you.✌️🙂💚
@@tresannrn8454 thank you 😊 for watching ❤️
Did you book all of stops and lodgings prior to starting the Camino?
@@ericsemple4820 I did most of them, just not on the meseta. And Im glad I did, the Camino was extremely busy and I didn't have to race every day to find an albergue. On the meseta I was calling or WhatsApp to book the day or a few days before.
@@ClaudiaRodrigues-Wanderlust I did that in 2022 when walking with my wife. The challenge was when we made a change then it created a domino effect of required changes.
@@ClaudiaRodrigues-Wanderlust In September I have only booked the first 7 days and from there once I determine my rhythm will figure what I will do. As mentioned I am targeting to go off stage to ease any bed race challenges
@@ericsemple4820 I didn't make many changes. I kept pretty much to my schedule.
@@ericsemple4820 off stage is a good idea! Next time I go I will do more off stage since I've already seen the town's I really wanted to visit.
Thank you for sharing! Looks delicious! Looking forward to trying the recipe. Great video!
@@FarmerLynneSaskatchewan thank you 😊
Beautiful looking tortilla and beautiful flip! I am always nervous to make this because of the flip but you make it look easy :)
Thank you! 😊 Maybe it's a European thing, but I grew up flipping our 'omlettes' like that so I'm so used it. I even flip my fritattas like that 🤷🏻♀️ and I'm pretty sure that's not a thing.
Looks delicious. I will have to break a keto day for this 😋. Also, I think you should send a couple more of your plates with Watson for me 😍😊
🤣🤣 I only have 1 of the small plates. I do have I think 8 of the big plates.
@@ClaudiaRodrigues-Wanderlust that's OK 😁. I love the 2 small plates I have 😁
Thank you! I will try this recipe tonight, it looks delicious
Let me know how it goes
I’ve made it exactly as your instructions and it turned out perfectly, nicely browned on the outside, soft and sweet on the inside. Served with sour cream, fresh green onions and a small tomato salad. Perfection! Thanks for the recipe, and I really appreciate your thorough explanation. It wad funny.. As I was watching, every time I thought something like, ‘wait, why is she using so much oil?’ You immediately said ‘You’re probably wondering why I’m using so much oil…’ 😂 Keep up the good work!
🤣🤣 especially with the price of olive oil! You'd think that it would be super greasy but it's absolutely not. Thank you 😊
Is it ok to use ketchup on a Spanish omelet?
🤣 ... at my house it's ketchup and HP sauce. In Spain they would probably look sideways at you. That's the number one thing I heard from other pilgrims why they didn't like the tortillas, they needed condiments to go with it.
@@ClaudiaRodrigues-Wanderlust I am a fan of brown sauce. The type you get from Mark's and Sparks and you put on the famous bacon sandwich
@@ericsemple4820I think we call that HP sauce here in Canada
Brown sauce is served at Roy's Rolls on Corrie. HP sauce here.
I am walking this Sept 5- Oct 11 I saw how you pushed big miles in the final week. I am thinking about taking two days in each stop from Sarria to Santiago. So Sarria is the finish . and the last week into Santiago is the celebration. In my training, I remove my insoles each day and put a small silica packet into the shoe to absorb moisture and odor
I'm not sure I would take two days in each stop from Sarria to Santiago. I think the consensus from most pilgrims is that after Sarria it's just not the same feeling. I would suggest maybe pushing through and taking those extra days to go to Finisterre or taking rest days along your Camino.
@@ClaudiaRodrigues-Wanderlust I finish on the 11th but dont fly until the 30th. Maybe head down to Ponte Vedra for a week after the walk... Thanks for your honestty in your videos.
@pavanatanaya oh that sounds wonderful 😊 have a fantastic time
@@ClaudiaRodrigues-Wanderlust One more question. I have a 32 liter frameless pack. Given that it will def rain in Galicia and maybe other places along the way. Should I get a 40 liter pack so I can pack real rain gear?
@pavanatanaya my backpack was 32litters and I was able to pack everything in it. I think it just depends on what you're taking.
You put in some long days. I do like how you organized your videos - good storyboard
Thank you 😊 really appreciate that
Did you find boot necessary? Or will trail runners work?
Personally, trail runners work perfectly. There is a LOT of road walking. I think boots are going to be too heavy.
The downhill after Cruz de Ferro is deadly! It is the source of many Camino injuries. I am thinking of taking the road versus the trail this year when I go
It is deadly! I'm surprised no one ever talks about it. I was SO SO happy when I got down. That was way worse than Zubiri.
@@ClaudiaRodrigues-Wanderlust my wife has a stress fracture below her knee via the downhill route. We learned of other Camino friends also injures
@ericsemple4820 oh no! That must have been so painful. Hope she is healing well.
I am currently booking my trip. I was going to use a booking agency to book for about 7000 dollars. You inspired me to deep dive and do my own trip.
Amazing! Wow 7k!!! Not sure if you noticed but if you go to day 0, in the description I have a Google sheet with all the Albergues/hotels I stayed at and the price, you might find it helpful
The pilgrims rate it is still 216.00 Euros! Ouch only 15% discount
They use dynamic pricing so it goes up with demand... I booked mine 9months before. It was definitely a big birthday splurge for me
@@ClaudiaRodrigues-Wanderlust I will treat myself to a steak and a good bottle of vino tented on my Leon rest day
@ericsemple4820 great plan!
LOL on forgetting your walking poles. I did the same one afternoon and added a few kilometers to my day returning to get them.
@@ericsemple4820 I was so glad I saw that person with her poles otherwise I would have probably only remember hours later 😂
So you are walking at a good pace. Five to six kms per hour on the flat.
Can you tell me please? Did you pre book your Albergue stays? Or did you just walk up?
I booked most of them up to Burgos and after Samos. September 2023 was extremely busy. In the meseta I usually booked a day before by using WhatsApp to msg the albergue.
I would definitely book up to Pamplona. Quite a few people ended up sleeping outside or on the floor. I started September 12th and it was VERY VERY busy.
Your stages are proving to be educational. My plan for my walk September 10 is to incorporate some off stage destination and start points. Sahagun is a target for me.
@@ericsemple4820 that was a SUPER long day for me, and it was just really hot. Sahagun was a cute little town.
@@ClaudiaRodrigues-Wanderlust I really liked it when walked through in 2022 and hence want to stay there this year
TMI ! yes men have it so much easier : )😊😊
🤣
We deliberated the distance math constantly on the Camino. We thought the markers we plus minus 25 km
🤣
One day I’m just going to have to come over and walk these 😊
YES! I would love that 😍
I fly on 9/1 this year. Thanks for the nice video Do you know if those train delays are common? I thought that train was supposed to arrive in Pamplona at 10:30
Thanks you 😊. Buen Camino!
Great videos ! I award you full points. I enjoy your approach and the narrative. Great information. I am comparing my 2022 experience on the CF and using what you are showing me to plan for my 2024 September 10th start.
@@ericsemple4820 thank you 😊! This makes me so happy. Love that approach for you. Only 63 days!!!!
It’s true there is beauty in nature almost everywhere you don’t always have to go far to appreciate the outdoors, when I find a track like this it feels almost like a secret so close to the hubbub yet green and cool. Also not too far from a loo 😂😂
@@joshubrook324 exactly!! Loo, water and snacks the formula for a good hike 😁
I hate this festival, move somewhere. Reason being, you don’t know how to clean up after yourselves. Soooooo much trash left Monday morning
Couldn't agree more about the trash left Monday mornings... The city, people and event planners need to do better. They could take a lesson from some of the big European cities, the streets are washed clean after the big festivals, it's impressive.
What a lovely trail ! So much green in the middle of the city😊 - so nice to hear your voice ! felt like I was walking the Camino with you again ☺️
@@suzannesecond9528 ❤️❤️
I can dance like that.
I highly doubt it
Interesting how busy it was to the point of Roncesvalles being full. I an walking almost exact same dates this year
I would reserve up to Pamplona. Zubiri was also all booked up.
@@ClaudiaRodrigues-Wanderlust I walked in 2022. I have booked the first 6 nights. I am going to watch all your videos to judge weather etc
I was expecting it to be fall weather and we ended up in a heat wave ,right up to when I got Galicia.
I cried with you when you walked into the square!! You have truly inspired me! Thank you so much for the encouraging words that women can do the Camino alone! Congratulations and May God continue to bless you! 🎉❤🎉
Thank you 😊!!
Wow! Beautiful sunrise!! Thank you for sharing your journey with us! Enjoying your videos… can’t wait when I go! ❤
Thank you 😊
Hi Claudia. Great videos. Thanks for sharing. On the split to Los Arcos, you mention that the main route to the right was 7.9 and the scenic to the left was 16.8. The sign looked like it said 17.9 but then you confirmed you took the longer route…was that to the left? The maps don’t appear to be a 10k difference in routes but maps aren’t my strong suit. 😁. Any chance you misspoke, did I mishear 7.9 or is one route really 10k longer? I love a scenic route but 10k might dissuade me. Thanks!
Hi! I did say 7.9 km 😅... It was 17.9km going right and 16.8 going left. I did see someone say that they took the scenic route and it was hard and not a lot of shade. So just be aware if it's a really hot day.
This was truly beautiful trail my friend, looks so serene and beautiful!
Canada is beautiful. Thank you for sharing such a pretty hike thru Toronto. Amazing! ✌️🙂💚
Thank you 😊. It truly is beautiful ❤️
Truly enjoy your videos, however, your audio would be much improved with a mic. The volume would be consistent instead of constantly having to go up/down.
Thanks! Agree! I struggled a bit adjusting the audio during editing due to the road/city noise.
Hi I was wondering if you put your backpack in anything to put in the flight hold ? To protect the buckles/ straps etc during transit Thanks
Hi! I carried it on to the plane as a 'carry on'. Personally I would not check my backpack, if it gets lost then it could ruin your whole Camino.
I'd put the backpack raincover on backwards, covering the arm straps , and with the hip straps clipped on backwards. That'll protect the straps in transit, its just one of the many tricks and techniques one learns along the way.
@louiselessels117 what a great idea!
@@ClaudiaRodrigues-Wanderlust I’m hoping I can do that too (am actually dreaming that my pack gets ruined in the plane hold) just needing a plan b in case they don’t let me
I've seen people put their backpack in an ikea bag.
Hi Claudia- I enjoyed your videos on the Camino thank you! I know this vid is older of course, but I’m revisiting lots of packing videos. Very helpful ideas thanks (I’m going this September) - but I love your dog in the background - ❤ Our pets seem to know what packing a bag means. I bet she was happy when you got home.
Hi Carmel thanks for the comment 😊. So excited for you! It was quite hot last September which I wasn't expecting. Maggie was so excited to see me when I got back, she always gets a bit stressed out when she sees backpacks as she knows that means we are going somewhere.
