    This is terrible advice. Never stick a pad saver in a clarinet - it can scratch the bore and leave debris in the tone holes. Never use commerical bore oil. Sweet almond oil is much better (and cheaper).

    Hi there, I found this Yamaha YHR321 on someone's rubbish today (Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne), and it seems a bit worse for wear. Do you think the dent near the mouth-piece end is "the end" for this instrument, or could it perhaps be serviced and fixed? The valves also seem a bit "sticky" but could maybe be oiled and tweaked up? Maybe I should just "hang it on my wall", rather than spend any money on getting it fixed... or I could sell it for parts, maybe! Any thoughts or advice on it would be appreciated. :D th-cam.com/video/RAHwgC56GyI/w-d-xo.html

    • @MrDjay46
      @MrDjay46 ปีที่แล้ว

      Best not to get excessive oil on the applicator. Routine oil on the pads is not a good thing.

    • @thetwistermouthpiecepuller
      @thetwistermouthpiecepuller ปีที่แล้ว

      The fibers on the applicator are not long enough to reach the pads so, as long as you don't put too much oil on it, the pads will stay dry.

    I still don't quite understand. When I inhale and relax the body using ah-ooh, the airstream is dead centre of my lips. But my usual mouthpiece placement is slightly off to the right. Should I be trying to place the mouthpiece directly over the airstream, thus in effect making an embouchure change, however slight? I have to say, the sound seems more resonant when I place directly over the airstream and play long tones, but the placement doesn't feel natural to me. Should I persevere and try to make a change?
