TAYLOR SWIFT TIER LIST
มุมมอง 338ปีที่แล้ว
In this video, I go from her self-titled debut to Midnights, ranking each album in a tier list and giving my thoughts on each. Where does Taylor Swift's Fearless, Red, 1989, Reputation, Lover, Folklore, Evermore, and Midnights (3 a.m. Edition) end up on the list?
JOHN MAYER TIER LIST
มุมมอง 4.2Kปีที่แล้ว
In this video, I go from Room For Squares to Sob Rock, ranking each album in a tier list and giving my thoughts on each. Where does John Mayer's Heavier Things, Continuum, Battle Studies, Born and Raised, Paradise Valley, and The Search for Everything end up on the list?
Personally, i LOVE tell me im alive, this is a ALMOST non-skip album, the only one i dont like is the other side, and i think new religion isnt that bad, this and Wake up sunshine are tied for my fav albums by them❤❤❤❤
saying the backend of born and raised is “dud after dud” is insane lol
Why you no love me is terrible
L take on Born and Raised. Up there with Continuum for sure.
Unless I missed something, why is Continuum the only album in the S tier if it’s not your favorite?
I love this album! It feels so personal to me I can't help but love it. Could you make a tier list of all their albums? Now I'm thrilled to know more about your opinions lol
born and raised is easlity S tier for me, might be even better songwriting then continuum. Def not D tier.
The born and raised album is his best album
Nah born and raised is kinda the magnum opus in the fans eyes, especially the die hard fans
Born and raised is definitely S
Did bro die
My Ranking: 8. Sob Rock - Just a boring 80's Yacht Rock tribute album. Kind of a letdown after the long wait. New Light and I Guess I Just Feel Like are good, but those songs and a few other had already been released long before the album, so we already knew they were good. Wild Blue is a vibe, though. 7. Paradise Valley - A few gems, but kind of forgettable in the grand scheme of things. Wildfire is probably the best track, which sucks cause it's the opener. Dear Marie and Paper Doll are pretty great as well. 6. Heavier Things - Again, not terrible, but certainly not the greatest in his discography. Daughters is obviously the stand-out track, but Bigger Than My Body and Clarity are great as well. Not much else after that to look forward to. 5. The Search for Everything - I agree that its not the most cohesive album, but that gives it an almost Beatles White Album kind of vibe to it; throwing a bunch of ideas at the wall to see what sticks. I dig it. Still Feel Like Your Man is a great opener, Emoji of A Wave and You're Gonna Live Forever In Me make me cry, Helpless rocks, Moving On And Getting Over is funky as hell. Solid album. 4. Battle Studies - Probably his most underrated album ever. Such great songs and concepts on this album. Heartbreak Warfare is great, Edge of Desire is a masterpiece, Half of My Heart is a solid pop hit, Friends, Lovers, Or Nothing is one of the strongest closers to an album I've ever heard. It sucks that the girlfriend drama and magazine interviews overshadow this. incredible work of art. 3. Room For Squares - Boy, talk about hitting the ground running. It's rare that an artist's first album is the one that launches them into stardom so quickly, and John Mayer proved with his first album that he was more than worthy of that early success. If you just listened to it with fresh ears, without knowing who he was, you would be able to tell just how much untapped potential this kid has. 2. Continuum - No, it's not number 1, but it's as close as an album can get. A culmination of all of his influences (from B.B. King and Stevie Ray Vaughn to Wes Montgomery and John Schofield) in one album. I Don't Trust Myself, Belief, Gravity, The Heart of Life, Vultures, Stop This Train, SLOW DANCING IN A BURNING ROOM, this album is just banger after banger after banger. What more could you ask for? 1. Born and Raised - This. This is what more you could ask for. This is without a doubt his magnum opus. Not only his most stripped down and folky album to date, but also his most personal and heartfelt. He really lays his soul out bare for all the world to see in this album, and you can tell that he cared very deeply about the final product. From the confessional lyrics of Shadow Days and Speak for Me to the heartbreaking self-awareness of Born And Raised and If I Ever Get Around to Living, this is John Mayer, for the first time ever, letting the listeners into his head, his heart, his soul. No question, this is his greatest work by far.
Oh wow. Born & raised should be right up there with Continuum. Give it another listen my man!
People when someone has a different opinion than theirs on an album: 🤯
Came across your John Mayer tier list and came for seconds with this vid.. Earned yourself a sub bro!
born and raised at d tier is all i needed to see
If you call Walt Grace a dud. This is 18 minutes of absolute nonsense
Where my Born and Raised lovers at? This has to be a troll right??
Wtf are you talking about describing Born and Raised as when the wheels started to fall off and putting it in the D tier? And Walt Grace is absolutely brilliant, couldn't disagree with you more about that. For me it's up there with Continuum as his two best records and it's not even close. To me Paradise Valley is far and away the weaker album between the two.
Nah Born and Raised deserves much more respect. I hated it at first but it ended up becoming my favorite album of all time
Where the h-😊ll did he come from?
Cave man?! Is he?😮
where was my invite to that pacific location :(
Well, it just goes to show how different people’s views can be about the same material! I absolutely agree with @MrDOUB… that Born and Raised is vastly underrated. I wonder if it was such a different style from his previous albums and people didn’t immediately take to it, rather than listen with “fresh ears”. I have say, to call “if I ever get round to living” a “dud”, is nothing short of totally criminal! Living in the UK, I had no previous knowledge (or preconceived ideas) of John Mayer. One day I heard it on my step-son’s playlist when he was visiting and I was absolutely blown away by what a beautiful song it was. And so the obsession with John Mayer’s music began. The other week I created a playlist of 133 songs from all the albums I’ve since bought, and I just let them play on shuffle mode. I have my favourites (like “if I ever get round to living!!), but I can honestly say, whichever random song comes up next, I’m never disappointed and never want to skip past one. That really is a remarkable tribute to his song writing, singing and his remarkable musicianship on the guitar. I enjoyed your presentation though, nice work.
Its also Mayers favourite song, or at least one of them.
Some people can be funny, keep trying 😅
Good one Dale 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Hard disagree on the born and raised placement. Regardless of whether you like the style of music or the vibe he is going for, the craftsmanship on that album is A tier. The writing is very strong and so is the instrumentation. Its an older musician's album and isn't as flashy as RFS or continuum, but it should really get the love it deserves
Born and Raised is a masterpiece and his best songwriting to date. Only small blemish is 'Shadow Days' everything else is a huge step up from a lyric craft pov. This record deserves to be next to Continuum on the tier list. It's the adult representation of shedding the ego of your 20s and it's sonic restraint feels intimately dynamic. I have put this record on many times and always seem to let the album roll through to the end.
shadow days slaps
You make a good point but I love every track mentioned in this video lol
*All Time Low and "CALM DOWN".....* Is the best alternative/ballad from their new album "Tell Me I'm Alive" in 2023..... Interpreted and composed by Alex Gaskarth ..... Thanks by the video..... 👍🙋💯✓

Deeeeaaaar jooohn
So is no one talking abt how he forgot their best song on this album, “are you there”?
Are You There? is such a banger I was kinda disappointed that he skipped over it, that and The Way You Miss Me
I actually loved this album from top to bottom, but thank you so much for reviewing this one. It deserves the attention! Last Young Renegade is my favourite, but I understand people wanted something to rival Wake up Sunshine
Walt Grace is not a dud.
its one of his best its also johns brothers fav song
One of my favorites
All time low needs to make a toxic fanbase single to make people like this guy to see that sometimes bands don't make songs for their audience, really should have mentioned this. No hate, just a different opinion
Disapointed no S+ Tier for Where the Light is, great rankings though.
Ironically my favorite from the album, album as a whole is okay imo
Love the album. I have been a fan since 2008 and would like to say probably after the new album bias settles for me it'll probably be my number 2 album. I honestly kind of think that the reason this album is getting as much of a bad reception as it is just because it's following wake up sunshine which was just an absolutely incredible album. I think lyrically though this is probably one of my favorite albums. Are you there is so damn sad and relatable I can't help but love it. For me the sound of letting go is probably the most catchy song ive heard and is easily my favorite track on the album. Lost along the way I know was not your favorite but I actually like the space themed lyrics but I'm also very into astronomy in general so it might just be a bias there lol. Even though my opinions are quite different from yours on this specific album love the review anyways. Heard that there might be like a part 2 for this album so if that happens hope you do a review on that too!!
I really appreciate your feedback and am glad you’re loving this album. Thank you!
I prefer this to any they've released in awhile. I think it's better than Future Hearts, Last Young Renegade, & Wake Up Sunshine. It's sneaking up the order I consider their albums. But I can tell from the way you speak of their discography we prob don't agree on much more than Once In A Lifetime, the album cover, & loving ATL. Don't Panic is my favorite followed by Dirty Work at #2, Nothing Personal at #3, & this 1 at #4. I cringe every time I hear I Feel Like Dancin but I love Dirty Work otherwise. I get the same cringe when I hear the Teddy Swims song.
Don’t Panic and Nothing Personal are definitely my favorites. We agree on that too 😌 I Feel Like Dancing is so bad, it’s good imo!
I also cannot stand the album cover. It irks me. I. Could have made a better cover on my phone.
I think the melodies on ‚the other side‘ are straight up insane.
Born & Raised in the D tier is blasphemy. I do agree with your point about the older singles on Sob Rock though. SR released in the height of the pandemic and I remember thinking it was kind of trippy how New Light was so old that I had already seen it performed live during the 2019 Summer Tour, given that at the time of Sob Rock's release seeing any concert or live music felt like an alien concept being almost 2 years into a pandemic.
I don’t necessarily think it’s a D tier album, but I wanted to make it proportional to Paradise Valley, which improved on that particular style in my opinion. My thoughts exactly on Sob Rock. I even think Carry Me Away was too far ahead to be on that album. Not sure if he got any backlash for doing that. We’ll know for sure when Last Train Home ballad version makes it on the next album 😅 thanks for watching!
@@yourtypicalfriends there was definitely backlash at least amongst the fan groups on line. With 3 loosie singles plus Last Train Home releasing as a lead single a couple months before the release. I recall myself and a lot of fans who had been waiting 4 years for another album disappointed that it was really only 6 new songs come release day. This is an issue that becomes less relevant as the album ages though. Listening through the album these days it doesn't bother me anymore, and it would be a non issue for newer fans listening to the album for the first time as they progress through his discography.
@@DoctorsHateHim True, I suppose the album has less baggage these days in that regard. I wish he would take a few pointers from Taylor and do a surprise album drop 😏
S TIER - Her Masterpiece 1. Red (Taylor's Version) A TIER - Great ones 2. folklore 3. evermore 4. Speak Now 5. 1989 B TIER - Good 6. Fearless (Taylor's Version) C TIER - Has great highs but there are stinkers weighing them down 7. Lover (+ Midnights 3AM EDITION) D TIER - These ones are not that good, the negatives appear as equal to the positive 8. reputation (pretty equal to midnights but it has higher highs) 9. Midnights 10. Taylor Swift
Love it. Thanks for sharing!
'The other side' is one of the best ATL songs in the last decade
A banger for sure.
I enjoyed the album a lot despite it being one of their mid tier albums. It’s very close to my #4 spot (which is Future Hearts). In case you’re interested, Wake Up, Sunshine, Nothing Personal and Don’t Panic are my top 3 favorite albums of theirs
That’s my top three as well. I wonder how common that ranking is 🤔 Thanks for sharing!
I think the albums pretty good, although it’s not the best. Although I dislike the title track I THINK DIRTY WORK IS GOOD
Yeah, I meant to use “weakest” instead of “worst.” While Dirty Work has some straight cringe, Do You Want Me, Forget About It, and Time-Bomb are among my favorites from ATL. Thanks for pointing that out!
Album blows
Your mom's name is Album
I enjoy this album. Not the best. But a solid 3.5/5
