Is he giving his all to the people around him by smiling and faking, in someway he is as in giving his all to keep an image to stay afloat. Or is he giving his all to the woman taking off the mask showing his true feeling at the time But at the same time he isn’t giving his all to his wife and kids as in to not putting the effort to sacrifice how he really feels to show a better outer appearance. I love this conversation and dislike it at the same time it hurts to listen as a man. Their need to be a balance Because if a man is on the search for an alternative is he supposed to just be there alone steering the boat and the only set of eyes and carrying everything No it needs to be balanced for the kids sake not the mothers. Every party wants to be happy and treated well. I feel really conflicted watching this.
What Nikki asking is exactly what islam promote. Lieing is prohibited in islam except in three situations: Between couples oŕ breaking fight between two or threats on your life. Second the most deserving your kindness and care after your parents is your wife and children. Your actually get reworded for doing the best to your family
I love Nikki but she just doesn't understand how it feels to be a man and not being able to provide for your family because of something that's not in your control.
She is $ should be Black woman that is a good example of Role model younger black girls should be following & looking up too because there would be more Black Fathers in the household with there Families. I love this woman heart ❤and passion and understanding of a relationship with US black men . We value home and being with our children and our wives
This was such a beautiful STRONG intelligent OPEN conversation!!! I wish in 2024 people were more open to having these types of discussions! This fed my soul! Grateful for this being recorded!🙏🏾‼️🤍
Nikki called his ass out and he deflected like his life dependent on it, and he isn't even a hetero man. If a gay man was willing to do all that, the women didn't stand a chance with the defeatist straight men
I felt every word she spoke. The sad part is that this still is needed. A woman, especially a black woman, is suppose to be a soft place for her man and family to land but she never has a soft place for herself to land..ijs
Years ago, I went on a second date at a bowling alley. At that time, my family was in crisis, and just as I greeted the girl, my younger brother called. I made it a habit to answer 100% of his calls because I wanted him to feel like no matter what there was one person in the world who’d always pick up, and he knew not to abuse that. However, that day he was extremely distressed due to our parents fighting, and the call took longer than expected. When I returned to the date, I was mentally distracted and apologized for not being fun. She comforted me, saying she'd enjoy our time together regardless, and urged me to just be myself. Her exact words were, "I want you to be wherever you are at the moment." That was when I realized this was my person. That was four years ago (we're engaged now). I can't tell you how nourishing it is to be real. I can't help but smile when I'm with her. She is my home. When I see her, the smile happens all on its own. It's not that I don't make an effort to be kind, but my feelings are real. She knows when I smile it's because of the joy she gives, and truly that’s nourishing for her as well. Work sucks, life sucks, but we take refuge in one another.
I just discovered Soul! At 44 and Ms. Giovanni in the same year. In the past year I've made more discoveries that lead me to corner myself and make new assumptions about everything I ever was taught or thought I knew. Leading me to understand the older I get the less I know and in doing so I loose a false sense of education and grasp a real understanding of spiritual enlightenment. Thank you Mr. baldwen.. Ms. Giovanni and Mr.Haizlip for pushing black arts to what it is today and for what it will mean to the youth of future generations. In a time when mental health in the black community was non-existent or talked about I wonder if the viewers of this them knew that this was exactly what they were hearing in a honest, civil and unapologetic insightful conversation of the pivotal moment when feminism pointed out that Masculism not toxic masculinity was the issue as it was then and still is now. I never graduated highschool but I was blessed to grow up with the disruptor called the Internet and the free will inherit in all human beings that are not born into or a direct product of slavery to be able to seek out and learn how powerful this is.
I've been trying to understand why this moves the complete me (mind/body/spirit) so deeply. It's because she checkmated him. But she could only do so by respecting him utterly. "So one of the performances will stop". She knew he was intelligent enough to refute her request for the fake by saying he couldn't fake all day and all night. She trusted him to reach this intelligent conclusion. The respect between the two of them is palpable. "The rent will get paid. You are intelligent enough and sensitive enough.." this was a different kind of poetry.
Make the system work for him.Is what she's trying to say?The woman shouldn't have to suffer when we have the man's back.Make the system work in the man's favorite. The man is smart enough to figure out a way to make the system work in a way that benefits him.
Can we just marvel at the cinematography/camera work? They turned 2 (maybe 3) cameras into absolute gold with all the various angles and shots they were getting. Masterful.

Came here after Vince Staples used this part as an interlude 'Lies.'
And the cost of living during the time of people merging with their divices is conventions like this. We just dont know how.

I remember either listening or watching them converse when I was younger and at 43 I’m just fully understanding their dialogue. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
That was a beautiful dialogue between 2 intelligent people.

Bottom line, she doesn't care about your excuses. Deliver, you a man! I'm a man and I agree with that
"That lie to me" hit hard.

The joy of watching two supremely intelligent people in conversation is so edifying.

For your sunscreen, there’s a store in Lagos that might have it. That’s if you’ve not gotten it yet…

The "you must, you must" that she said was very powerful it's as though her voice was breaking as she was saying it
