The Bay Bridge is shown at one point. Strauss wasn’t actually lead architect on the bridge, though he gets credit for it. Bay Area residents put up their homes as collateral to secure the bonds needed to fund construction. And my personal opinion is the GGB is the only man made structure which accentuates the natural setting where it resides.

Actually, a tragic history with copper. A huge strip of the eastern side of the Keweenaw Peninsula is covered with mining waste. It's visible via satellite. Was dumped into Lake Superior for decades and storms gradually spread it down the beach. Looks like a moonscape, heartbreaking.

I grew up in Sault Ste Marie Ontario. Superior is extremely clean and yes quite cold. Many beaches are very shallow and tolerable for swimming. You can literally walk out until you barely see the beach. Lots of sandbars and drop offs, but all of a sudden you could find yourself in trouble with current and undertow close to the shipping lanes. I don't believe that it has the largest surface area of the Great Lakes but is the deepest and has the most volume of water. I could be mistaken.

The Mighty Ohio River iconic, historic and it should be environmentally protected from wastewater and sewage pollution by stricter federal government standards. The American Indians called it the Great River for a reason. The abundance of wildlife helped them to survive as a people. We all had better wake up because some cities take water from it to purify for our drinking water to survive as a people. The American Indians are people we can all learn a great deal from in order to survive if we would only recognize them and respect them and honor them as the real First Americans! We The People! It's part of the U.S. Constitution and they are a part of our heritage as a Nation! God bless the U.S.A.
