Making a Console Table with Cheap Lumber

Making a Console Table with Cheap Lumber
Awesome Shelf. Super cool
Good video! Telling us that the angles don't change unless you increase the length was the eye opener!
No way thank you
Simple shelf rocks. I've had stuff like this in my house for the better part of 20 years. I'm not out to impress anybody. This is probably better built than any of that shit you find in the stores. Well done. Quick video. This is something that almost anybody can do with a few minor tools. I love it.
Quisiera fabricar una es tan original el diseño..
Maybe your is broken idk but you don't have to smack that punch with a hammer. Just press it down. Its spring loaded
You don't know about the counter sink bit?
Great tutorial, short and straight to the point - Thank you!
Is that lumber cheap? Looks thick and would run up the cost
How likely is this to fall over?
Great vid, I'm on the same mind of build what you can afford and forget anywho who wants to be an elitist. On a completely unrelated note and only a suggestion never going to tell people what they should do, but some background music with your voiceover might help people stick around :P It's somewhat off putting (not that it bothers me much) to have complete silence between sentences, so some copyright free stuff low in the background could help. Again only a suggestion. Still watching the whole vid and liking :P Keep up the good work.
I wish he would have just gave the information
Solid wood is better than laminate. Looks great.
I love it.
1 year later, is it still works?
Yes! I still use it all the time. I added a very thin layer of foam and some athletic tape on the bar. Otherwise no modifications
Love your easygoing attitude and acceptance of the project for what it is. It doesn't need to be made out of hardwood. Nicely done! Thank you!
I think 1x10 would be sturdy enough and half the weight...?
Yes it would be fine with 1x10s
We meaning the world do metric, is there hope?
Yes you can change the settings to metric lol
I also heard a lot of negative words about making furniture out of the cheap pine boards, but I always said the same thing, what if you can't afford the expensive select wood. So, I appreciated your opening words, and repping those in community who are not carpentry snobs. Great work also!
Really people get mad at that, I seen some bad ass stuff made with cheap lumber that I wish they would sell so I can be a customer I don’t have time to build I just watch and tell myself I will one day.
Great tutorial!
Lovely Work
Can you dismantle it at any time? Dont have space at home to keep it there always
Yes. I would consider a hinged solution so that you don’t have the inconvenience of completely disassembling it every time you use it.
What if I just use a curved pipe and skip the ground support? Where I live walls are made of concrete so I was thinking if just screwing the flange to the wall
Don't worry what someone would say for using cheap lumber. It's nobody's business. Make what you like and enjoy the process
what do you use to hang it
He just stuck it on a nail, but you could also use something like a saw tooth hanger, or put a small piece of wood on the back and screw it directly into a stud if you want it to be more robust
@@initiallyseen thank you
is there a free version that last longer than 30 days? all I see is a trial version.
Yes. I use the 2017 version. It is as close to free pro as you can get. It is "Pro" compared to the web version. Go to the home page of Trimble and scroll around and down. You'll find it.
I cannot add my measurements. The program will close this project when I push enter. I use centimetres. I'd like to write with you in Facebook.
Bought the plans but unfortunately it doesnt include the measurements for predrilling (like what is shown in the video). Do you have these? Thanks!
Did you just skip laying it out and take the extra time doing it after/during each section?
Would this hold many books because I am afraid it would collapse if I fill it up?
You could not collapse this bookshelf if you tried. The lumber is twice as thick as traditional bookshelves.
@@WoodworkingAcademy Thank you so much, your work is great!!
Nice. I'm thinking I'll place this so the legs straddle the giant garbage can in my garage.
$50 my ass its like $300 now lmao
For a couple 2x4s and a piece of pipe? It’s still about $50.
I love it
Very very nice
I built this kind of bookshelf. I wish i had this video before hand i was just winging it but turned out pretty good
I built mine with a boat load of pocket holes and screws. Took me forever
LOVE YOUR VIDEO ... THANKS A LOT
Very nice!
I love your minimalistic set up woodworking environment with dust being sucked in right away! Amazing!
Awesome! Minimalistic and brilliant idea bro! Keep it coming!
Another great video. You are a teacher, I can tell. I just had a two day course on Sketchup which was great and this compliments it well.. Please make more
Very crystal clear explanation.I like it.I hope there is more coming SketchUp videos. Thanks.
Please do more Sketchuo videos... i would prefer the pro edition, but will consume whatever you produce : D
Coming soon!
also like simple design and form follow function
I like your sound, clam and soft
this is beautiful! Thani you so much!!
best idea I have found so far.. gonna be making this today itself
I just found that you can rotate on mid point of the leg.
Nice
Ingenious. What’s the pipe diameter you used? Thanks
Thanks! I used 3/4” and honestly I should have used a bigger pipe. It’s plenty strong but would be so much more comfortable with a bigger diameter.
@@WoodworkingAcademy thanks, would you go for 1inch or 5/4 inch?
Don't think my question laughable, because I'm learning from all you do. The drill bit was for a screw on the end, but also had a wide metal circle maker for the dowel. What do you call bits like that? Thank. Barb
It’s called a spade bit, some people call it a paddle bit. Honestly, I should have used a forstner bit as it makes much cleaner holes. Your question is not laughable, we’re all here to learn!
