I ask them for the manufacturer date before I let them put them on. I have had some guys try to give me a hard time but when i go to a reputable place they know it’s important and will tell me without hesitation. It’s common to see the tires are within a year or two after their manufacture date due to over seas shipping etc.

Good point, if they are being stored long term it a good idea to rotate them around so the rubber does not deform

I just saw another short of new fresh tires being unloaded off a truck deformed but when inflated were completely fine

Wow! Hopefully you were not hurt. I have been lucky so far (knock on wood) and have never had a tire blow out on me yet.

The rubber may degrade slower when stored indoors, but regardless age related safety concerns still exist. I have checked and many manufacturers directly state that the compounds degrade over time regardless of being stored indoors and even if they don’t show visible signs of dry rot.

Hello again, so I have been doing some research on this since you peaked my interest. I thought I would share stuff I found with you. First I did find that of course like you said silicone is a legit way to protect rubber and when used on tires does just that. Some mention about silicone causing slick treads if it has not dried completely ( no idea if you’ve noticed that ). I also checked some products and spoke with the Chat GPT (AI) was saying that the products that are specifically made for treating tires every couple months are similar price to silicone sprays but may have additional advantages over the silicone spray on its own. (Due to additives) So I got the impression it may be better of to buy the products since it basically the same price or cheaper.(I’m not sure) Anyhow I’m going to buy some silicone and start spraying all my rubber seals and whatever I have. Thanks for this tip!

I think it’s a great thing that a lot of people don’t know, last week I went to buy a slightly used set of winters for my wife and the tires were 8 years old but he had got them from the store a year before.

Interesting, maybe i will try it in a homemade pesticide some day. I know that the salt and vinegar are both also toxic to insects and probably microbes. I think any substances that works to kill vegetation are probably not bug friendly.

Ohh wow 75% vinegar. I wish I could get my hands on stuff that strong. I’m not sure if it possible to get permanent just cause grass and what not always grows back. But, I have best luck with multiple applications. When the stuff that starts to show signs of regrowth I hit it again and works much better.

Great question, so I looked into this and according to the AI this mixture should not significantly deteriorate and the effects should be minimal. I’m guessing the salt is not high enough quantity. The vinegar I honestly think would be less concerning then they salt just because it’s generally considered a safe and milder alternative on standard household items. Just my 2 cents tho. Hope this helps.

I actually ran into the same issue regarding the vinegar. I struggle to find it in higher concentrations which I would love to try. Everywhere says they carry it but never have any.

I’m in Ontario Canada. We don’t get access to a lot of the god stuff here, which is why I’m always looking for alternatives. Our Home Depots have a “Zep” industrial cleaning vinegar but they don’t list the concentration of acid and I think it actually some sort of mixture. Amazon has some that claim to be higher concentration but they are expensive. I’m tempted to make some with citric acid instead of the boric acid to see the difference.

Boron is a naturally occurring mineral. Technically all “minerals”are considered chemical compounds. The stuff is literally made out of a non toxic naturally occurring mineral+salt+oxygen. And it labeled as non toxic. If that makes you uncomfortable feel free not to use it.

Hope it works out, vines can be a pain may need multiple applications to kill the roots if it’s resilient. Luckily this stuff is cheap and can be made up easily whenever you need it.

That’s interesting, we have very strict regulations on this stuff in Canada as well. I didn’t know about the Parkinson’s tho! I just finished trying some homemade stuff that I should be posting a video on in the next couple days. Maybe this stuff will be another option you could try out.

I agree it does the trick. I find it expensive tho I’m not sure if it’s a location thing but we also use a lot. I’m in the process of experimenting with a combination of natural acids with good results so far. I plan to make a video on it in the future hopefully.

Haha well this thing definitely sounds like one.

I think they are all temporary fixes, unless the driveway is redone properly. When I use chemicals IE round up the weeds will still grow back. BUT it’s way more expensive especially with our Canadian funny money. The driveway currently still looks good so I’m pleased this far :) Also I was curious after reading this and went to do a little more research and apparently they have studied this and the heat is supposedly very effective noting that depending on the type and size of weed multiple applications may be required.
