    Is it spring assist?

    Kudos for the humility of being a novice. The most inaccurate part of the system is the human. Next is ammo. Last is the rifle and gear. That being said, the human can reduce errors in the system by checking torque. Most factory rifles can, I think, achieve 1 MOA for the first 2 or 3 shots. My TC Compass II had a factory claim of 1 MOA on the first 3 shots. Out of the box, no break-in, Hornady SST 150 gr (.308) .54 inches (.51 MOA) on the first two shots. Eventually, it settled on Federal Fusion 165 gr. I have never had the best luck with 150 gr. It is also becoming known now that the Federal LED-X in 7 PRC is not only more consistent but it is also averaging closer to the box MV of 3,000 fps. Others are showing chrono results of the Hornady Precision Hunter ELD-X 175 gr averaging about 2800 fps. Which is okay, it will still perform better at that speed than a .308 because of the higher BC. So, if one makes that change in the ballistic calculator, should be good. Looking forward to the next step.

      He made an update video and shot. .3” at 100 yards and a .5” with other ammo. Ruger sent him a new rifle after he sent that one in because it was toast from the factory.

    Good luck mate, I have slowly been building a 1 km rifle. Using a old tika T3 270 Wsm and turning it into a 7mm PRC. Have built it with an oryx chassis, new LR scope and now waiting on a 27-inch heavy barrel in 7 mm PRC. Reloading is the way to go I will be using 184 Berger F-class target bullets. The goal is .5inch at 100 Yards then start pushing it out. My strategy is to build a rifle that can do it then I will know it's me that is the problem.

    • @rockymountainoutdoorsman
      @rockymountainoutdoorsman ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds like a good plan! I think I will probably buy a tikka in 7 prc when they put one out! I love tikkas! I know my rifle can hit long ranges accurately. Most of it is me at this point. I am not a long range shooter. I just gotta get better with the trigger. Keep me updated on your journey!

      Sir, i thought that 270 wsm couldn't be 7mm prc because the 7mmprc is long action...i have 325 wsm wanting to change the barrel to 7mm prc...i need an advice..thank you in advance...

    • @Muschka01

      @@justiceforall4628 Tika T3 is a long action only. Was pushing the 270 WSM projectile out, and I had the barrel chamber done to allow for it. The 7mm Bergers 180 to 190 gr bullets in a 7 mm PRC just fit in a Tika action. They also fit in the neck only of the case and not into the case capacity. Awesome!

    I am on the same journey with a Savage 7 prc. I suggest getting a single stage reloading press. It will pay for itself pretty quickly and give you a chance to maximize velocity and tune seating depth. If you don't want to mess with reloading at least get a chronograph. I got one for around $65 on prime day. It is a no name chinese brand, but it seems to work fine. I haven't had a chance to shoot beyond 300 yet but I am holding MOA to that distance.

    • @rockymountainoutdoorsman
      @rockymountainoutdoorsman ปีที่แล้ว

      That is really cool! Thanks for the info! I am looking into reloading and doing a cost project on reloading. The most exciting thing about reloading to me is being able to tune a load and know that I can get a tighter group. Have you been able to make your groups smaller with a specific load?

      @@rockymountainoutdoorsman I have been able to match factory ammo pretty closely, but I haven't exceeded it yet. I have been too busy to do the testing I need to do. I only have about 60 rounds through the gun. We are under stage 2 fire restrictions here in Montana so it isn't really a great time to shoot. I hope to do more testing next month when the weather cools. I will be watching your progress.

      The key to reloading is the groups you shoot. Velocity doesn't mean much if you miss. When l work up a load l start lighter than hot. Then go 1/4 grain up and down from there. Usually start out with 2 different powders. I haven't found much difference in primers. I use CCI large rifle. Case preparation is very important. Powder- a good scale and a trickler is a must. Bullets- this will depend on what you are hunting and where. It will be frustrating at times. I've been reloading for well over 40 years and it still drives me crazy but it's a good crazy. The feeling l get when a constant ragged hole group is achieved is still awesome.

      Me either! I am going to have to find a place here is Colorado to shoot that far! Farthest range near me had 1000 yard steel. So I will have to find somewhere that has a place I can shoot further.
