This was so helpful. Thanks for posting.
I got a question: Does taking these injections weekly provide better results long term? Or is it better to exercise and eat less sugar and carbohydrates? Or would all the above at once be best?
Gorgeousness... Beautiful Silver Fox!
Well done x
Hi I’m T1 diabetic and have been approved for surgery, I wanted to have bypass as you lose more weight but I know I should have sleeve incase I have a hypo and will need sugar and if I have bypass I would have dumping what is your opinion on T1 with this surgery 😊
Thank you so very much. This helps so much. I am having surgery soon for health reasons.
Thank you for the clarity between the two. I’m going for the injectable treatment. I just need it in addition to my healthy lifestyle changes I’ve made already❤
I so need this man’s help.
Thank you so much for this information! I feel that it really helped me solidify my decision on getting the gastric sleeve. As a young mother who hasn’t had a past of disease, I believe it’s what would be best for me.
What if your other health problems limit your exercise?
You are biased and u don't really compare. U say take injections.
Until recently, he was advertizing gastric Elipse balloons for Allurion. Now suddenly, the balloon isn't any good and he's advertizing the drugs instead. Pharma must pay him better than Allurion for the advertizing. You can't trust a thing he says.
No. He’s giving facts that he’s probably observed himself.
@@francinejones2524 If that's the case, he should make a point of saying he has changed his mind and he is now no longer promoting the balloons and for what reasons. One thing I've noticed is that he never admits he's made a mistake - he never takes responsibility for any negative situations. This shows a disappointing weakness of character. That's one reason why I've lost respect for him.
Anyone interested in this information, look up Dr Pilcher. You’ll get better information on Bariatrics
Thanks for the awesome video! Your explanation of the differences between a gastric sleeve and a gastric bypass really hit home for me. Initially, I was fixated on maximum weight loss and had chosen a bypass. However, I later decided to go for a sleeve, and your video confirmed that I made the right choice. I’m in a Facebook group where many gastric bypass patients share serious complications like intestinal hernias, vitamin deficiencies, blockages, etc. While the sleeve has its own set of issues, they seem significantly fewer by comparison. Your insights have been incredibly reassuring. Keep rocking the great content - you’re making a real difference!
I saw Mr Somers once. He’s such a pleasant person. Unfortunately, he’s retired from Upper GI QA apparently and I saw a different consultant last year.
Good for you and thank you for stepping in! Hoping you'll be my surgeon later this year for bypass.
He such nice person haven't seen him in long time
Can I have sugar free jelly pot and no added sugar crusha milkshake too ?
If anyone is watching this video to find out more about their surgeon and you’ve been given Mr ‘Jambu’ but you don’t see any comments from people - fear not. I had my surgery with Mr Jambou and I’d like to tell you that he is such a softly spoken gentleman - his tone and mannerisms are almost like a lullaby. For some people that may concern you - as many of the other surgeons that have videos on here are more outwardly and more confident in making videos. Dr Jambu’s knowledge is vast and under all of the gentleness of his tone he cares very deeply about how his patients are cared for. For example he taught the kitchen staff (at the Bushy Spire) how to prepare the soups so they were right for those coming out of surgery. That isn’t something you’d expect from such a high up surgeon to do - this however gives you insight into how much Dr Jambo cares. Dr Jambu did not bombard me with loads of information all at once. I was gave the clinics direct number (if it’s something urgent) as well as having access via streamline care team. Please know behind this softly spoken gentleman is a Person who cares very deeply
This is absolutely awesome! 😊
Not only are you able to eat out after bariatric surgery, your social life will improve beyond measure. Mine did. 😊
This superb surgeon saved my life in 2008 with a gastric bypass. Streamline are THE best. I’ve had at least 15 extra years of life. Make the call. Every single member of staff will treat you with kindness and professionalism.
This y far has been the most helpful video! I’ve watched so many videos and have contemplated the which surgery to go with. I went back and forth and this really confirmed why I’m going with the sleeve. Thank you so much I wish I found this video before!
I can tell you, with my hand on my heart, that it will be the best gift you ever give yourself. I had a gastric bypass with Streamline 18 years ago and it saved my life. If I hadn’t had it done, I was given about 3-5 years to live. In July, it will be 18 years. I’m so incredibly grateful to Mr Shaw Somers and the rest of the team. I hope things go well for you and that your life will be better in so many ways, as it has for me. You’re in terrific hands. 😊
I’m due a gastric bypass 1 join with Streamline on the 22nd, I am getting more worried as the date gets nearer. I just hope I am making the right decision, I am more worried about after the surgery and such a lifetime change with food. What’s made me worried is actually the dietician, she has really put me off and has made really worried. I was feeling great before the appointment with her but afterwards I felt quite upset, I don’t know if she is employed by Streamline ? But she made me feel I am going to fail and also she gave me the impression that she doesn’t believe in such surgery’s 😢
Hi, im so sorry to hear about this! Could you please share your full name so that we can reach out to you as soon as possible.
Hi everyone, I had bariatric gastric bypass surgery almost 14 years ago with Mr Shaw Somers. I was a very sick 61 year old and am now a healthy 75 year old. Thank you Madeleine Clarke
Shaw would you remove my gallbladder
Shaw is it possible to do this procedure on an obese patient that doesn't want weightloss surgery?
Most helpful video on the subject! Going for the sleeve instead of bypass. Thanks
Thank you very much for this explanation. Wonderful information here.
This was so helpful i was doubting my doctors recommendation of the sleeve over the gastric bypass,i will stick with my Dr.recommendation on the sleeve
Wow very helpful.Thanks
So happy for you. Had me in tears. Wish you the best
Watched all episodes of Dr Fat.
Interesting video well done shaw sommers for that! It can be extremelly challenging being obese and being able to loose weight long term and keep it off for long term as Dr. Now would say. And I can understand is very difficult having hunger hormones and fighting that as well as being addicted to junk food it can be addictive. I don't understand why they can't treat obese patients with medication as I thought all surgery does is physically restrict you from overreating. Gastric Bypass is obviously the most aggressive option but even after having it patients can gain weight so I'm not sure how effevtive surgery is! Surely there's a drug that can supress apetite which surgery does. In my 600 lb life a lot of the patients end up gaining there weight back and Dr. Nowzaradan doesn't have the patience and compassion as Shaw does. Unfortuantely a lot of people find Dr. Now humiliating and degrading fat people funny. But he does sleeves on them when they should have a bypass at that weight as got so much excess weight to loose. hope you're doing well All the best
I was going to get bariatric surgery in 2010 but I backed up 3 times and was already in the process of getting my surgery done I wasn’t obese that’s why I backed up on my surgery day i was really young and I was this close to getting into the process I did the process of bariatric surgery like 3 times I even did the classes, the testing and etc, but till this day my dr still offers me bariatric surgery and weight loss injections ‘ I did my research about bariatric surgery, gastric sleeve and gastric bypass for many years now 😌 ❤
Thank you. This was helpful. I’ve been approved for sleeve but was scared of heartburn… BUT I almost never had heartburn when I was thinner. So now I’ll stop double-guessing my surgeon’s recommendation! 😂
I have been watching the "Fat Dr" series and Dr. Shaw seems like such a nice and professional Dr. He is so empathetic with his patients and treats them so well....
Great job on the explanation.
Amazing ❤
Wonderful loss ❤
Wonderful ❤
I had a bypass with streamline. As I am a volume eater x lost 100% of my excess weight which was 4 stone.
What is 4 Stone?
@@Scott-ze5fb A stone is 14 pounds which is the standard unit of measurement of (human) body weight in the Imperial or British system.
Wow Dr Summers, you look great. I had a bypass with Streamline, Mr Munasinga 😊 July 23rd 2022. Was small bariatric at bmi 35, but have lost 100% of my excess weight of 4 stone and am very happy. The mental aspect is very hard and I do struggle though. But it's about managing and being realistic!
So incredibly helpful, thank you!
I found this to be helpful. I am having the bypass, not to lose more, but because I have T2 Diabetes and Acid Reflux. My doctor suggested this as the best option for me. I have my surgery in less than 60 days.
Gives us an update, how is everything going? Are you recovering well?
Yes id love to know
I have 90% decided on a bypass however i am T2 Diabetic. Other clinics are saying they only do a bypass for T2 Diabetes. Do you find that sleeve still has great results for Diabetes as well?
I would love to know which surgery you got and how it worked out for you thks
Wow thats so amazing and so informative, I'm about to start my journey and this has enabled me to make a better decision.
This has been really helpful, thank you. One thing I’d love to know more about is taking medication after each procedure. Do the surgeries affect medication absorption, or does one more than the other? What about extended release meds? I’m on a bit of a cocktail of meds (of course I’ll discuss my individual case with my consultant) and I worry that one or both procedures might cause my meds to become less effective.
Im 3 and a half stone down in 6 months since surgery with streamline. Very happy x
