Artist Talk with Suzanne Kraus Mancuso
Suzanne Mancuso began painting in 2008, creating folk art and paintings of the local area, and quickly amassed an impressive portfolio of places and events in the Hudson Valley.
In 2003, Suzanne earned her first world record for creating the largest portrait of the Virgin Mary in primitive folk art. She earned a second and third world record for recycling the large mural into postcard sized pieces and painting holy buildings on the reverse side, creating 3000 postcards. She received a commendation from New York Archbishop Timothy Dolan for her devotional artwork.
Since 2014, Suzanne has mainly focused on painting the Hudson Valley, and this work can be seen at several local shops, including the Cold Spring Antique Center and the Play Store in Beacon, where she is a well-known souvenir artist.
The art on display at Boardman Road Branch Library includes a variety of folk art depictions of Poughkeepsie, such as local attractions, and other folk art paintings that she has created over the last 10 years. Suzanne was born and raised in Putnam County, New York.
Suzanne's work will be on display now through October 7, 2024 at Boardman Road Branch Library in Poughkeepsie, NY.

Milton Rubenfeld was a hero to Israel, G-d bless him for his service. The woman on the video is incorrect about Al Schwimmer, another hero. He was pardoned, but by Bill Clinton.
You have done a great job and found it very interesting.
Thanks! Worked great, so easy.

Very interesting, if not a little funny, that something so simple can be so scholarly. Apples are such an american staple that are so ingrained that you dont even think about it
4:45 can I freeze the dough that is in the bowl to use later?
How about the Col. This was a great tutorial on taking advantage of paper materials around that can be used to make "little bags" for cute little gifts! Thankyou for sharing! 29:37
A former Poughkeepsie resident now living in Washington State I am enjoying your program. Dr. Edwin C. Coon
I Love Jonna Napire 🧡💛❤ March 28, 2024
Finally got around to giving Vikings a watch. Can't remember what episode it was, I think some time season two, but it was some type of sparring match I think, with extras all in a circle. I noticed a dude in the circle, paused, rewound... Holy shit, that's Irish Jesus! And now I'm here 😂
Thank you
That was an excellent talk, 👏, I've only recently become interested in American apple history as it explains the gulf between the European and English favourite varieties and the ones most popular in America prior to the supermarket era.
I was born in Poughkeepsie.Currently living in Florida. We will be back this year.I would love and appreciate a walking tour.Thank you for this clip, it adds so much to my day❤
Really interesting, while concurrently disheartening with the realization that this area has become a sub-urbanized, congested mess. But thanks for the history lesson that inspires me to head out an try to find some of these historic sites before they disappear completely as what is happening at the old psychiatric center buildings.
Why doesn’t anyone do a clip of the historical streets in Poughkeepsie, Academy St. For example. When people would walk up my st I knew they would love to see the inside of my home, I would invite them in for a short tour and they loved it and were very great full to see the history inside.
Hi! Our Historian, Shannon Butler, offers walking tours in the warmer months of Academy Street. We will forward your suggestion to her.
Hi there!! Excited to have found this video while trying to research my antique photo album! Im located in Los Angeles CA currently, but found the album at a small shop in Huntington Beach CA.I grew up in Maine with traceable NY ancestry, very much being someone who enjoys history I felt I needed to get this album!! I have plenty of photos (including Vail's!) Id love to share!! Just watched a video on the towns history, very cool!! Thank you for this video!
So sorry for the delayed reply! Contact our Library Historian, Shannon Butler at sbutler@poklib.org, I am sure she would love to see what you have.
the host is funny & smart. should have her own show.
Abby we are so sad that your brother Paul has died condolences to you and your family he was a legend and hero just like your dad rip Paul and Milton
My family claims to have once had a variety of apple called “the Mariner apple”. Possibly in the New England area I would love to find it and grow it again.
this is a job well done ty Kira...good morning th-cam.com/video/3Rifby1tVE8/w-d-xo.html = Morning has broken by Cat Stevens, great day to the Library, ty David
Thank you!
Its called Louisa Pond.
Excellent presentation. I’d love to be part of the group and hear more.
it a good totoral much love
The chemicals toxicity is quite low. This is the safest photographic process. Toxicity is a function of dose. As long as you don’t drink it you are perfectly safe handling it. It will stain though.
Muchas gracias muy bien esplicado gracias
Gracias x compartir esta receta las hare por primera vez y las pondré en mi altar de día de muertos
No pude aguantar el antojo, muchas gracias por la excelente receta! Saludos y bendiciones 👏👏
So interesting! My grandmother's maiden name was Van Keuren (also spelled Keulen or Ceulen) I know my ancestors were early settlers but I don't much else except my family's home (bought in 1711) still stands in Kingston (Green St, I believe). I'm very excited to learn more. Do you have any info on that home?
That was my great, great, great grandfather!! My grandfather was named after him and I was named after my grandfather, my family is all nerding out over this video.
I'm a little late here, but you tube said I should watch this. Love it! I've resided in Fishkill for the last 30 years and it's so great to learn from someone just up the road! All those low hanging lines were low voltage telecommunications lines, something we can still see on the Hudson Line. Neat to look at, but just a glimpse into 100 year old 4G!
I saw him live when I was a kid, and we bought cassette tapes of all his lectures and me and my brother fell asleep listening to him almost every night for ten years. His voice is like going home.
Very easy with a nice finished product. . Better these old unwanted books for craft ideas than to throw them away, as I've seen a second hand store do.
Great history review! Outstanding!!!
That's was Awesome!!! Love the Info and History!! Would love to hear More on the origins and favorites of the Apples of our Founding Fathers! Washington,Jefferson,Adams..etc..THANK YOU!!!
Her pronunciation of "italianate" is very...disconcerting.
Saludos, gracias por el aporte. muy interesante el análisis de la tesis del Mtro Garcia
Shannon I love these talks. You do an incredible job, I enjoy your talks so much!
Yes do a walking tour. Then have a wine and cheese for everyone to discuss thoughts.
Forget talking. Just keep pouring the wine.
Thanks, my grandmother and namesake are buried in one of your grave yards. Not recorded As far as I have found, but always 'felt' it was this one. Loved seeing how beautiful the water, trees, and graves are thanks!!
OMG! You should definitely do a walking tour!!
Are you still doing zoom calls like this? Seems so fun! I’d love to join.
Estuve buscando este tutorial pir años.
Please do a sequel! Don't be afraid to go into urban renewal because everyone should know so they might care about preserving what's left
Thank you for this! Very helpful and a good way to put all the old high school reading that gets put in the town's Little Free Libraries to good use. Time to make Brave New World into crafts lol
Fantastic! I learned so much, and the wealth of examples/illustrations was very helpful! Just wish the audio were a bit clearer. Thank you, Professor Klein.
tnx
Peach Hill Park was nice. It had wide trail and a nice overlook to check out.
This is going to be fun! I look forward to picking up the kit! What a great way to reuse the books!
Agree! Can't wait to pick-up the kit too!
