Brief History of William Penn's Landing
William Penn’s Landing in Pennsylvania: William Penn’s landing in Pennsylvania in 1682 is a cornerstone event in American colonial history, marking the establishment of a colony founded on principles of religious tolerance and governance. This short video delves into the historical context, the journey, the landing, and its enduring legacy.
Historical Context
In 1681, King Charles II granted William Penn a charter for what would become Pennsylvania, as repayment of a debt owed to Penn’s father. This grant was not only a personal boon but also an opportunity for Penn to establish a colony based on Quaker ideals of equality and religious freedom. The Journey Penn embarked on his voyage aboard the ship Welcome from Deal, Kent, on August 30, 1682. The ship carried approximately 100 passengers, mostly Quakers seeking religious freedom. During the journey, a smallpox outbreak claimed the lives of thirty passengers, though Penn himself was immune due to a childhood infection. Arrival in America Penn first set foot on American soil at New Castle, Delaware, on October 27, 1682. Here, he performed the “livery of seisin” ceremony, symbolically taking possession of the land by receiving a piece of turf with a twig and a bowl of river water. This ceremony underscored his legal claim to the territory.
Landing in Pennsylvania
On October 28 or 29, 1682, Penn arrived at Upland (now Chester), Pennsylvania. Upon arrival, he renamed the town Chester after Chester in England at the suggestion of a fellow traveler. The landing site was near Robert Wade’s log house, which served as the first Quaker meetinghouse in the area. This location became central to Penn’s plans for his new colony. Establishing Governance Penn immediately began organizing the colony’s governance structure. He called for elections to form a general assembly and passed laws that annexed “the three lower counties” (now Delaware) and naturalized existing settlers. These actions laid the groundwork for Pennsylvania’s democratic governance.
Legacy and Commemoration
The landing site is commemorated by a monument erected in 1882 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1971. Although industrial development has obscured its exact location, the site remains symbolic of Penn’s vision for Pennsylvania as a place of religious freedom and fair governance.
Conclusion
William Penn’s landing in Pennsylvania was more than just an arrival; it was the inception of a new societal model based on Quaker principles. His efforts not only shaped Pennsylvania but also influenced broader American values of religious tolerance and democratic governance. The legacy of his landing continues to be celebrated and studied as a foundational moment in American history.

The best stage of video was the "mom and pop" stores of the late 70's/early 80's. These were video tape stores that basically anybody set up, long before Blockbuster which in my opinion was a cold place, the early stores popped up everywhere, golden memories for me.
AI voice shit 🤢🤢🤢🤢
I asked several local actors to narrate the videos. But many unknown actors have the biggest egos. If their face is not featured while saying lines, they’re not interested or they turn it into weird theatrical performance, instead of doing proper narration. I’ll eventually narrate videos myself. However I do have a mid Russian accent, so I gotta train my voice delivery a little bit. Also, I’m doing these videos for fun. Therefore Ai was a pretty good solution, instead of dealing with headaches. Sorry though. After Sub video in about a week or two, I’ll start narrating videos myself.
also philips n1500 video casstte recorder using 30/45/60 miniutes tape sold to general pubic for home tv recording in uk first sold in1972
Thank you. I wanted to include few more models but it would turn 8 minute Brief History into a 45 minute episode. Because once I dove into Sharp, Hitachi, Aiwa and some 90s Sony models, I fell into the vcr rabbit hole.

Nah. I usually go from torso up. This was in Covert Ops mode. Last second decision. If I didn’t shoot another player, this whole thing could’ve been avoided. I thought it would make a cool video though. And so it did.
