Welcome to the Jonny Sez Ebike Channel!
Two years into ebiking in beautiful Southern California and still so much to learn and see. I'm here to share the ebiking experience and related info as I find it such as: bike reviews, accessories/products and ride videos of locations in So Ca.
I also included links to informational websites, TH-cam channels and products. Initially, e-mountain bikes will be the primary focus.
Remember; just because it's what Jonny Sez , doesn't mean it's right for you. I just show the path. Sometimes literally!

Basic eBike Wheel Removal
Some folks have asked to see how to remove the wheel (with motor) on an ebike to fix a flat after seeing my 20 second short. There's not much to it and it shouldn't be intimidating. This is the same process to fix a flat, change a tube, add a liner or change the tire itself. Hope it helps!

Flatout tyre sealant inside the inner tube works well, obviously wouldn’t save you from a nail but it does prevent the tube going flat from most of the common things that puncture bike tyres. Obviously next best step is getting some fat tyres from Schwalbe like the Jumbo Jim. It is expensive but much more durable than the chaoyang tyres all the ebike companies use. I also own this philodo h8 but in the uk instead and where I live the streets are kept clean so flats aren’t typically an issue.
I've been tempted by the Jumbos. My friends use liners and Flat Out or Slime. I'm not a fan. If there's a hole I wanna fix it, not ride the hills thinking all is good. Seems like a false sense of security. I did go a year and a half without a flat, on three bikes, using just the liners so that's huge for So Ca. Hope you're enjoying the H8. Doing an update on how it performed with 3k miles each on two H8's. Awesome bike!
Waste of time doesn’t show to fix it
Not really possible in a 30 second short. There is a 20 minute video on my channel of the whole process tho.
Does the tannus armor give you less mileage because it’s squishier?
Not that I've noticed as far as mileage. They are pretty firm so when I bounce a tire without and one with the Tannus tire bounce reminds me of a basketball. Being on dirt more than paved I do keep the pressure lower but don't get that squishy feeling you do with just a tube. My other short has a recent flat and you can see how it looks and rode without air.
How long will the battery last in freezing weather before it dies?
I live in So Ca so I don't get much freezing weather. I get 40 miles on flat road and 25 in mountains. with plenty of throttle of course. Don't notice much difference when the weather cools tho.
I had damage box for my bike i wasn't happy i I no I couldn't have come from the manufacturer Warehouse like that the way the FedEx drivers handle was careless
I've had two bikes so damaged they had to be replaced and decided to never accept delivery again. It's not the bike companies, it's the delivery process. Luckily I live near the logistic centers. Unfortunately not everyone has that option. Hope the bike was ok!
Hey brother. Just got the bike. I went into the advanced settings and fixed my max speed to max but I can't seem to hit beyond 31mph. In all fairness, I live in a very hilly area. Any tips?
I have two and one does 35 and the other 32. Same here with the hills. Between them and my throttle happy hands I go thru some battery. I check it with gps. Sometimes the tire size setting will affect the speed displayed. They have it programmed for 29" they say as the wheels on 26" bikes are actually 29", not 26". You'll love the hill climbing this bike does which is my main priority.
Is there a way to make the fork have less air
I'm assuming they are air shocks so there should be a valve under one of the caps. Here's a video that might help. th-cam.com/video/3BZ1B19oCx4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=IpJRo5m6ou0PXhv9
never get tired of watching these philodo ebikes. I do like the hard tails [im old school] just waiting for a step thru model [thats my only hold up on getting one] I see their jumbo has even more features (AWD selector is great to have) buut not a step thru :(
I just passed 2500 on two of the H8 models and I beat the heck outta these bikes haha I believe PapaBlueShirt said the Jumbo was lower. Contemplating the Jumbo as next bike.
I just bouth one today exactly like this one same color and everything no charger tho so the guy sold it cause he said it wouldn't charge so i bought it hoping for the best and it only had a couple of unplugged cables bought the Original charge on ebay for around $30 bucks plus the $150 dollars that i payed gor thst nike i think it was a great deal

Where did you buy your mini handlebar crutches? I'm interested. Do you have a link you could send me? Thanks in advance.
www.handlebarjack.com/ These things are awesome. Enjoy!
Climbs much better than my Rambo krusader. I wonder if is possible to swap out my rear hub motor for a 750?
I see it has dual 500w Bafang. I guess it depends on the continuous battery amp output and controller size. I can't find the controller size on any site that sells it. Let me know how that works out.
@@johnnysezebike1319 I emailed Rambo and they told the controller DMHC and the BMS rating was 13S 20A
Pretty sure Bafang uses 25a controller for 750w and battery output should be the same. I swapped a 750w off brand on a Bee Cool bike with a 100w Bafang and that had 30a controller and bike had 30a continuous on batt output. Does 35mph on the flat but won't climb the slightest hill.
@@johnnysezebike1319I emailed Rambo. The controller size is a DMHC 20a. I’m assuming there’s two. But not sure. Might be posable to add a bbshd third motor. Separate throttle, battery, controller, display for the mid drive. And when climbing steep areas switch over to the mid drive. I saw a triple motor build on here so it’s possible
Thank you. Enjoy
Jus use flat out easy
I hear ya. Rather fix it then rely on flat out while flyin down the mountain road or hills. Just me tho.
You didn’t show us how you fixed it.
Can't do that in a 20 second short. I did post a full video of how to remove the wheel to change tire/fix flat.
REALLY THANK YOU this is with i have been really looking for.
Thanks. Just hit 2500 miles on one of em and still have same brakes, even pads.
It's look like my keteles k800 bike
It sure does!
Nice I'm thinking about getting a e bike jjst for that
Nice! You'll love it. More fishin, less walkin I say.
Really informative, thank you! Finally had to change my bike tire and you made it very easy to do 😁
Thanks! Glad it helped!
Just found out that Lithium Fires don't require oxygen to Burn
Another reason to consider fireproof bags. Should buy time at the very least. Good to know tho. Thanks!
SLIME..?
Yea I don't do the Slime thing. I prefer to know I have a flat and just fix it versus not knowing or thinking it will hold. Not when coming down 2200' mountain. Not to mention it's a mess when I do change it. Without Tannus Armour I'd prob be using it tho.
Seems like 2 seconds to me
I wish someone would compare this and the keteles k800. I'm pretty sure it is the same friggin' bike named differently for different markets.
That's pretty common with alot of ebikes these days. One could order a shipping container of the exact same bike from the same factory and have their name/logo put on it. Then try to lowball the competitor which is what usually happens. Or it could be the same company cornering the market. It's just business. You're spot on tho!
How does it do on hills? Can a rear rack be installed. Looking at one for a hunting ebike. The competition bikes spec like this are nearly $4k
Does great on hills and rivals the dual motor bikes I have. I does use alot of battery and the mid-drives are more work than a hub motor. I always say a hub motor is like an automatic transmission where the mid-drive is like a standard trans and you have to use the bikes gears as a trans in order to get the most out of the battery. They do have rear racks for them also.
@@johnnysezebike1319if I bought that bike. I’d put smaller chainring and larger rear cog make it a single speed for hunting bike
just assembled my adventurer charged the battery it won;t move what am i doing wrong
Muc offs wham bam for this job definitely!
Not sure. I would take the battery out and reset it in the cradle. I had to do that once. If not they have a forum on facebook. Used to have a contact for repairs on there.
If you have a Philodo and need spokes, Here's the link to their site which shows the size for bike and wheel (front or rear). This is the best way to go and getting the full set means plenty of extras for down the road. philodobikes.com/collections/accessories/products/philodo-bike-spoke-36pcs-set?variant=44401139351790
Wasn't aware of this, thanks for this video. I occasionally wonder if its better to go with an off-road scooter instead of a bike because many of them (the better ones) have tubeless tires, so you can just fix a flat without taking off the tire (and fold up easier for transport).
I've seen those things go faster than my bikes, one dude says he hits 45mph. Big diff between scooter and bike. Personally, I wouldn't want to be standing for a 40 mile ride. But they do it all the time and looks super fun. Good luck and ride safe!
It’s good for delivery?
I don't see why not so I would think so.
What did you use to hold the handle bars up so it won’t damage what’s on the handle bar
Handlebar Jacks. I never leave home without em and whenever working on the bikes. Here's the link. www.handlebarjack.com/
I use a pair of rubber jack stand pads I got on Amazon for $10 They’ve got a V notch that the handlebars rest in perfectly 👍
Love to see it!
Just watched your show on the H8 unboxing…. qq, I want one (or a Jumbo) but am concerned I am not tall enough. I am 5 foot 8, with a 30 inch inseam, how tall are you and what is your inseam ? Do you think it may be a problem ?
5'6, no idea of inseam. It works for me and started out on a bigger ebike. Also have suspension seat which raises it even more and still good. Another fellow rider is same height and no prob there. Hope that helps!
@@johnnysezebike1319 that does help, a lot… thx
I had 83 miles on my H8 Philodo and the rear motor died. Company will not answer their phones or email. Terrible company and customer service. Don't buy from this crap Chinese company!!
That stinks. Surprised and hope they get it rectified asap!
Finally i spot one goof on youtube that apparently uses the knockoff brand of Cygolites. (Aka Ceco). Honestly haven't seen anyone out of the many that supposedly bought the Ceco lights. I was thinking if they were THAT famous for people to buy them. Why haven't there be so many videos. Hmmmmmm? Seems pretty ok in brightness. Got similar style idea i have with the two Ceco's 1200 on the handlebars and the Ceco 2000 on the helmet. Totalling 4400lumen output on the highest mode for all them. Though mine i got 2 BV 300's tied around the lower front shock arms by the axle. So with my 2 Metro Pro 1100's and Ranger 2000 + the BV's would give me 4800. But i do plan to expand my Hyper E-Ride with more. Thinking of hitting the 10.000lumen output. I wanna get some more for the shock arms 2x and one on the crown. Then two extra cygolites on the handlebars. In total i should have 9 on the front and 7 rear headlights (that includes the helmet). Then people won't give me the excuse of saying "Oh i couldn't see you.".I'd honestly be shock if someone would say that when i got 9 lights on the front of my bike (8 and 1 on helmet.). It'd be like seeing a jeep with those overhead lights on when looking at my Hyper E-Ride lol. But hey. If you ever snag your hands on a Cygolite Metro Pro/Ranger 1200 or Ranger 2000 to compare the Ceco 1200/2000. That'd be a video worth showing. Though i think it'd be neat to do a video of maybe opening that Ceco 2000 up and showing what they have behind the hood. I'm interested if they are pairing two 3500mah 18650 cells together to get good runtime. Or they somehow pulling some magical beans out of a single 18650 to get those runtimes. Or even more surprised if they are using the newer 21700cells that can pack a wooping of 5000mah from a single cell. I know their little Chip inside the light isn't to crazy. If they are copying Cygolite. It's probably just a thin chip board on the top slide in place. (won't need to really disassemble it really. Once the screws are off the back should just slide off with ease and easily put back on.) But i do wonder how well they handle on heat after a 30min ride. Is the front lens cool to the touch or the plastic on the head cool enough to grip or to hot to grip for a few seconds? Hope to see more info for these! I'd love to see a indepth video and maybe a inside peek.
I was just looking for a reasonably priced light. Even when searching for Cygolite on Amazon they still have Ceco lights all over the pages which was interesting after seeing your post. I love to suppot local companies, and Cygolite is a SoCa company so I will check them out. The Ceco name stands for California Equipment Company so I did think I was buying local. That being said, they have performed very well, never ran outta charge and the one time I had a problem they did replace it quickly. Once I get a Cygolite I'll do a comparison video. Good heads up tho, thanks!
@@johnnysezebike1319 Yeah i'm surprised Ceco managed to survive this long being a knock off of Cygolite. And isn't in some kind of lawsuit or some dealo. I knew what Ceco stand for but. Most people can pull a crap name out of their butts. But i think mainly the reasoning behind Ceco is 'Cygo' To feel similar for the name branding. And shorting it from California Equipment Company just is a excuse to seem similar to Cygolite again. What amusing is how their amazon seller location is also Fake. But targeted just nearby Cygolite's werehouse location (can see my recent video.). But anywhere else you try looking up on them. There is 0 address of any location mention. Compared to Cygolite that on their about page shows their location. So lots of sketchy things about this company. They brag they're good and all that. But there isn't any real dealo of showing truth behind it. Like really bragging your this and that yet you copy off a true famous company. Total bull. ------------- Yup that'd be a good video to see.
I bought two bikes and one is not even upto 3momths it is bad, the electrical is not working, sent me a fake tracking code and still date nothing , a waste of money
Not my experience with two and well over 3k miles between them. Hope it gets worked out.
I bought a bike from your company and it is not up to 3 months it is not working I complain and no answer yet
It's not "my company". I just show my experience. Hope it gets resolved!
I was waiting to see what you put in the water bottle spot!! Then I read the comments on here and saw the answer. Thanks for the review.
Seems like the perfect bike for trails like this and general exploration. From the comments I gather that the range is respectable as well! Some of the trails I ride have some steep climbs, like Peanut Butter Hill and what I like to call "Pedal-strike pass", both on the Lakeview MBT in Michigan. PBH is 48.1% and PSP is 30.9%, but both are short and can be made with a little momentum and enough power. Thanks for the video!
On flat ground it's 40 mile range, with some heavy throttle in PAS 5 in some areas, and climbing steep hills up 2200' it gets 25 miles. That's a lot of riding on trails so plenty of fun on one charge. Thanks!
Okay, nice video. My phone stole the 19 minutes in the middle of the video! Would you please repost the whole thing? I want to see how to disassemble the rear tire! 😮😂
It was a short so YT keeps it under a minute. Been waiting for a flat to get it all on camera and have gone over 3k miles without one using the Tannus Armour liners. Great idea tho and I should do a video of the wheel removal itself.
Have u ran over any nails with tannus since then?, only things popping mine are these random nails😂 @johnnysezebike1319

That's my bike with just a different name slapped on it really
I live in Kansas where it's mostly flat and I have one motor on my bike and it'll do 33 on a dead run with me somewhat pedaling in fifth it'll go 30 without me pedaling it
Mine's a single motor and the guy goes oh yeah all you got to do is order the resistor and the other back the resistor and it's a dual motor
Why is every one of these bikes look damn near the same they all have the same electronics they all have the same batteries but they're all different prices
Spot on with how long it takes to fix if your not slow …. You should sprey that stuff in the tube then fill it with air. I think it’s a run flat can
I have the Tannus Armour in all motored wheels now. Thousands of miles on 'em and serving me well. Used to get a flat every 700 miles on avg. Prob just jinxed myself
Ooooh. I understand now Thanks
Hi. Have you try running on one motor yet
Yes as It basically runs on the rear motor alone when in PAS only mode, throttle kicks in the front motor which I love because it's "on demand" vs a switch. The throttle will also control the rear when used.
How long can you ride on all wheel drive. Thanks for replying
On flat ground at the beach I got 40 miles with some heavy throttle use. In the mountains climbing steep grades up 2500' I got 25 miles. The new Philodo Jumbo is the same bike with full suspension and TWO batteries for 46ah. That would double those numbers.
Can you give a link for the handle bar extension and blue tooth speaker?
Sure can. The speaker is: a.co/d/dzA5ixZ Speaker holder: a.co/d/6ZtcldY Adjustable Stem: a.co/d/82ykHko The speaker is awesome, best sound out of several tried. Enjoy!
Hello that's an interesting video, i was wondering could you possibly give me some advice, i have just bought the keteles k800 2000w duel motor,i think it is similar to yours but im having a couple of issues, the back wheel and sprocket seem buckeled, the bike I at a standstill with no one on it, when i twist the throttle the rear wheel jerks forward then stops, is your bike the same. Thanks
Sorry to hear that and not normal. if wheel and sprocket are buckled it sounds damaged. Definitively contact the company and see if they can help. I would think the front wheel would spin when you hit the throttle. They are very similar bikes as I've seen one out there. Good luck with that and I hope they're responsive.
@@johnnysezebike1319 hello. Tks for getting back, I have rode the bike and it does ride in rear wheel drive but I don't know if it is riding properly, do you think is it actually normal for the rear wheel to jerk then stop whilst stationary and no one on it , and giving the throttle, but when you lift the rear wheel off the ground it spins , the side movement in the rim and sprocket is slight but obvious, does your bike do the same thing, regardless of the buckle. Thanks again
The jerking doesn't sound normal. Have you tried changing the PAS engagement setting? There should be a setting where it determines the number of rotations before it kicks in. If it's set to the most instant it might give the effect of bucking especially at higher PAS levels. Just a thought. Other wise it's hard to know without seeing it. I'm JonnySezEbike on FB and IG where you can post a video in a reply. @@martinmorgan8475

I never got outta PAS1 due to the grades, up n down and side to side haha. I had to keep my feet out as outriggers. I all fairness wasn't dry enough to keep traction. O flat ground and drier snow I woulda been outta control lol
I like the H8, it's cool.....I just wish you could turn off the front motor when you're cruising the urban jungle (to save power)
I would just stay off the throttle and use PAS only.
