You can use one crucible per metal you smelt, unless you wanna smelt two different metals at once. When mining surface copper, it can anywhere from 3-9 blocks down under it. When you grab nuggets off surface, dig a hole right under it, to know where to mine later. You fight the bears, wolves are nothing in comparison ;) Your hammer is needed to smash the ores you mine into nuggets. also used to smith when you get the anvil and forge going. You need 900 units of copper for your first anvil which is 180 copper nuggets. 20 nuggets = 100 units of copper. Most tools and ingot molds are 100 units.

Traps operate on a timer, which is dictated by the type of trap and doesn't have much randomness, so you will always have to wait about the same number of days between trigger events (I think 4 days for a log trap, but I don't remember exactly). When the timer is up, the trap triggers, and it does the diceroll to check if you caught something. It will never catch anything before the timer is up. If you put bait in a trap and the bait rots before the trap timer is up, it resets the timer. So don't use items that are close to expiring as bait; it will just mean you have to wait extra-long for the same catch chance as an un-baited trap.

Yeah it counts as a win if you loop whatsoever, even if you end up dying. Nice run regardless!

I don't mind using the replicas. They are "budget steel" in 0.G and it requires a low skill level to craft budget steel, so they can be easily repaired. If you do find a high steel authentic you will have to find high steel (in no hope lol) or get your blacksmithing skill set high enough to make it yourself, otherwise they are not repairable. I came out of the mansion with two budget steel pikes and they served me very well until I crafted a crappy copper spear that served me even better. Copper is plentiful so every time it got damaged I just repaired it :)

The robotics and sterling engine kits allow you to practice Mechanics. The sterling kit in particular will get you to mechanics 3, if you can find the concentrated alcohol (ethanol, methylated spirits, ect) for it. You have the instruction book I saw and you do need those, too.

Missed it live, but having a blast watching these. I picked up the game after watching your first couple videos, so its been fun learning and progressing along with you. About sticks and tree seeds, those bushes in the grass areas around your house are a good source, plus clearing them out makes hunting a lot easier. And when you're chopping trees, its best to break as many of the branches first unless you just want logs.

while i'm enjoying the playthrough so far, i do think your next playthrough should have tool speed set to 300%. it will help you develop quicker, and make it easier on your overall experience with the game. I think its best after you got a better hang of the game, and then get to truly enjoy it as a challenge. consider making a 100 day series, they work pretty good with the algorithm, and overall it's a good project, release them as you play, and then make a 100 day compilation to post.

its crazy this came out a few months before my favorite card based survival game.

funfact, bears are actually very silent. They can make a lot of noise, but as predators, they're incredibly sneaky. ngl hurts seeing you not put stuff down on the ground.

Its really fun watching ya learn the game. Also i kinda laughed as you legit do battle with the bears. Most of dig a big pit, bears can climb 4 blocks tall, (4x4x5 , or 5x5x5 )so it's gotta be 5 deep. ladder or two up the side in case ya fall in, but when bear chases ( or wolves) run, jump over it ( or to a block with ladder on it above in middle ) , let the bear fall in , way less running around and spear loss. Livestock ... this can be a bit of a long term investment. You need a boar in the pen with the sows too. A boar will not run when attacked, will chase you. Unlike sows that sometimes will, sometimes wont. Chickens , you need a rooster too. And you really wanna protect chickens... it's safer having 2 or 3 high fence walls , later the running chicken group in a corner, will "popcorn" over low fences. ( which is a bit of a glitch , but happens. due to numbers them bouncing around on each other ). another thing to worry about, rabbits and chickens die from a single lightning strike, and chickens in my opinion, seem to attract strikes during storms with lightning. having a lightning rod, when you get enough copper can smith one out, seems almost a must to keep your chickens alive. Yeah, you need hen boxes and troughs. Pigs eat out the big trough, chickens eat from the small. and you gotta well feed em to breed em. Flax grain works great for this. Pigs won't eat grass or hay like goats or sheep will. Once you do get a few sows, and a boar or two breeding, you get what I call "pig-splosions" as they have litters. Warning though, if there's piglets, the adults become hostile, so makes feeding even fun. Chickens will lay eggs , and even if not fertile but fed, means you can gather eggs for food too. It's great fun watching ya, makes me remember my early days of playing, and figuring it out too. And i'm not trying to give spoilers, just there's a lot of little things, not really covered by guides , or are that super intuitive. Somethings I figured out due to real-life survival bushcraft , other things by trial and error, and after i got everything down decently, watching other content creators gives good inspiration, sometimes you learn a few things too ;) Love the series, and content still! It is good to watch for sure!

your spears broke, good inclusion of the unrealworld music, this game always makes me feel like im playing the 3d version of it, especially playing the homo sapien mode.

Great job with the animals. I think that chicken can escape low fences, so maybe lower the ground in the pen. Also look up the Reed basket trap for chicken acquisition. I use a stick to poke the pigs. Food is just for fattening & breeding more animals & you'll need troughs (made from planks)

you ever thought of playing dark days of the dead mod? it's basically romero zombies,only destroying the brain kills the zed and they're all slow. it's pretty cool

You should have a basket you just carry around with you. Be able to hold a little more. Also you can pin ingredients in place so there not all moving around when your crafting.

if you dont want to spend time fishing to filet them fishes for trap bait and whatnot, you can just gather bunch of bugs from the cave, they also work

Really enjoy the animal mods, they do spice up the game.

Nice a mushroom, you can start a farm with that when you get survival 4 and can make spores. That room at 42:44 that generally is a " rare gun room" has like one kind of decent gun and some ammo in the chest.

I’ve had this game on my wishlist for a while and when I saw it was on sale, I bought it. Been playing nonstop. Gotta say, this game is hard. Started over several times because I got a bite wound or broke my leg. There’s barely any info on this game, even the wiki is very incomplete. I somehow made it to 2 weeks though. I have a question: What is a good location for a base? The first few times mine was in the Bay. Now it’s in the Jungle. I’ve gotten up to the Eastern Highlands, I didn’t know the map was this big.

I think what's happening is you are clicking once to collect, and some reason its causing the pan motion glitch. Like water said below you click once to load pan, and click again to do the panning. It makes a sound of swishing dirt when it's working. Panning takes a while to go through several blocks , you can just drop the soils along the shore, and you can pan two high stacks of it too. If you do it at night , you can always make a panning shack to make a secure place drifters won't hurt ya , and most seem to like doing it off camera as , it is not always that exciting. I left comment on one of the earlier vids about more early game blocks can be used/made for building that doesn't require metal tools or hard to get resources - packed dirt, Cob, Strewn Straw, Light and dark mud bricks , any wood block and baked clay blocks. Thats on top of cobble stone of course. There's also an early game quartz "window" block , but i forget what it' s named off hand. but i think it' s just quartz and sticks. ( normally, i skip that until i have a bloomery and bronze pick axe and make real glass myself. ) How you have your base makes for easy expansion - you can punch a door way, and add on to the side for rooms, also if you go with a flat roof option ( as opposed to pitched roof ) building up an down for expanding, are always fairly easy to do as well. You can make tall multi story with pitch roofs and have attics too, I just find it simpler to flat roof , uses less materials, and less time gathering resources or baking shingles, and quickly make additions ... even look out spots and balconies. Once you have access to a bucket for water sources, flat roofs also can double as secure farm plot spaces too. i'm more of a practical builder, than going for style though. also when you get time, crafting up a couple more storage vessels and placing them in cellar will help you store berries, meat, grains, and veggies longer, until you are ready to cook with as well. That way you don't have cluttering up your inventory or eating em to make space all the time, and can be there when ya need it.( storage vessel, not baskets ... thats what their actual purpose is for, longer food preservation. ) but great Vid! you are picking it up quite well!

Yeah, something is off with your panning & clicking. I wonder if your snapping ctrl & shift effect it as well. I'll also highlight the other person's advice to not put your panning blocks in the water, it causes all that odd floating stuff.
