Beautiful
I work in Horror and this is wonderful! This is my first Osterhouse instrument, and I am very impressed with how it sounds...it has a somber-esque quality to it...or maybe I am just playing while looking out the window on a fall day and this is what comes out. Beautiful sounding piano by the way, what is the actual piano make/model if you don't mind my asking?
Thank you! I meant to do more on the horror side in the demos because yeah, it totally could be great for that! It's a Steinway model D.
This is terrific!! I can see wanting to layer this with any of my VI pianos to add more character to them. It's the ultimate piano refinement tool. Unfortunately, Kontakt 7 is right out of my league (I own it but cannot use it on my OS) so it may be a few years before I can have the pleasure of using this tool in my songs.
@@zedxxx9 Thanks! Yep, a lot of layering possibilities for sure.
Very cool! I bought it yesterday and its pretty amazing. Theres definitely a learning curve but that just makes it even more rewarding and fun!
Thank you! Glad to hear it. Yeah totally --it's easy to get a fairly nice result at first, but once you dig a bit deeper, there are some pretty nifty ways to do things.
Excellent work here Ben, sounds brilliant.
What a beautiful library.... It's on my list, Thank you :-)
Dude this is crazy! I would be SO interested to see a video in how you did the scripting. Awesome work!!
Thanks! Good to know someone would be interested in the scripting. For this video I wanted to share what it does, but didn't show any code, because I didn't want to bore my audience :D I should do a scripting video sometime! I tried doing a scripting livestream last Friday, but yeah, it's questionable whether that's worth it or not.
Damn I missed this. I'm 12 hours ahed in the time zone so, it was a bti difficult ...very noiiiiiiice
Ah well, catch you next time!
BTW, you’ve totally demystified Philip Glass! With Ripple Cello, anyone can compose like him... :-) just kidding! Thanks
Haha! But seriously though (and I kind of mentioned this in the walkthrough) I think making libraries like these could change what kinds of music people write, in good ways. I remember when I first got Composer Cloud back in 2018 how mind blowing it was, having all these tangible, real musical sounds right at my fingertips, so you could all these different styles of music I wouldn't even have thought of. Of course, you have to make it your own :P But still, what a jumping off point!
GREAT DELIVERY! Chapeau! In my basket now.
🙏
Oh Great! the MIDI clips are very useful! They could be used to merge / clone with other instruments! We do need also in your previous great libraries! Thanks
Indeed! Glad you're finding the MIDI clips useful.
Man this is INSANE stuff, seriously, the back and forth thing is such a common way of writing for strings yet pretty much every single lib out there is incapable of doing it. I would love to have a complete but small string setion sampled in this way (1v, violas, celli, and bassi, no need second violins)
Yeah totally, thanks! Yep it'd be neat to hear how this playing style would sound with an ensemble. Dynamics work so differently with a group.
Make woodwinds next please! Amazing library and very useful
@@QuiemRe Thank you! Yeah I've had in mind that'd be interesting to collaborate with woodwind players on a library. Maybe that'll happen someday. Could be cool!
@@ben-osterhouse TY! U are my hero 😩🙏
Hey! A fellow Ben!! This sounds amazing, I really like what you’ve done here!!!! 🔥
Haha, hi Ben! Thanks!
I can't say enough about how great the playing and musicianship level are. The nuances that Ben is able to get with his playing is just rare in my opinion, at least in the sample library world.
Hey Nuno, thank you!
Nutz. so amazing. Love the GUI with the little half loop circles pointing the intervals being played. Congratulations on another stunning release.
Thanks, yep --fun times with all those little animations ✨
How yo do it? 😳
Magic!
It's a kontakt multiscript I wrote which records and plays back notes.
❤
wow lovely sound!
Thank you!
This is neato. I hope to pick up Ripple and the rest of your catalog soon. Until then, I must dance.
Please please please do violin and viola! Absolutely phenomenal and inspiring sound! Congrats on another awesome library!
@@beeeethz I was hoping someone would ask! I think having a version of the library which explored higher and lower registers could be great. Playing the instrument, it feels a tiny bit restricting that it's only 3 octaves.
@@ben-osterhouse It still sounds very nice in the higher registers, so I'll get a lot of mileage from the cello. But I will purchase the violin and viola in a heartbeat if you ever make them! Thanks for making this, Ben!
@@ben-osterhouse I did think of asking, but since this one is just released I did not want immediately put the pressure. But yeah, Violin and Viola Ripple would be amazing!!
As usual from you a fantastic concept! Congrats!
Thank you! Cheers!
Love everything you do! Thank you!
Aw, thanks!
What’s the CPU usage like? I found pathfinder was quite heavy on my CPU
Ah, about that --I was not as concerned about optimization at the time, but recently after testing more closely it turns out I definitely need to release an update to both pathfinder libraries! They don't need to be nearly as CPU intensive. NI will be very busy with Black Friday stuff soon, so the update needs to be submitted by October 11th. To show how much less CPU intensive Ripple Cello is, I made sure not to crop the CPU meter in the playthrough videos. Here is an example where a lot is going on, but CPU doesn't get very high: th-cam.com/video/VVjYEEjbSKQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=gkVBhAKg2Qka4D1s&t=518
@@ben-osterhouse Yes, you could add to Pathfinder, in a future maybe, the MIDI patterns even if I admit in that case there some complications.... Thanks anyway
Sounds amazing Ben! Will definitely be picking this up!
Thanks!
Amazing!
Brilliant! Thank you for your great effort!
My pleasure!
The Minnesota Musical Marvel strikes again! Amazing and super useful, as always. Thanks, Ben!
haha Thanks💪 Glad to finally be able to get it out there for people!
neat.
I think many of us have this type of note sliding before but it has never been possible to recreate realistically in a sample library. UNTIL NOW! Congrat's Ben.
@@shubus Thank you!
as usual mind blowing.
Beautiful sounding.... And very inspiring.... U must make a video of describing it's potential in a composition....
@@dezinerAhmad Thank you, Will do!
Nice Ben
maybe that but uses a mic to recognize the notes so it can be wireless
I'm not sure what you mean. Sound from the mic would increment notes, instead of using my right hand?
@@ben-osterhouse idk like how some apps can recognize music notes
@@rainman40 huh, yeah maybe that could be interesting somehow
@@ben-osterhouse they might have missed that the kontakt script maps the keyboard to relative intervals, and thought the piano roll itself was the point of the video
Very usable. ❤
The piano sounds great! What library is it?
Thanks! It's The Gentleman from NI.
Been 1 hour since I bought it, no link provided to download, no information how to install. Where is my product? Strange // Edit: Got it eventually, Ben fixed the system, thanks.
Hi Jeremiah, this happened to a few people before I switched to a different system for delivering serials. Did you get your serial?
@@ben-osterhouse Yes, but after more than 1 hour or two. Can you try to make strumming on the Cello? Have quite a few Cello VSTs and no one has created this feature yet. If you listen to this song Drunken Dream by Chris Benstead, you can hear the biginging of Cello strumming. Would be an inspiring feature/sound th-cam.com/video/SiJYhmXjzBc/w-d-xo.html
@@ben-osterhouse Yes, but after more than 1 hour or two. I wrote another reply earlier but it dissapeared for some reason. Can you make the strumming feature on the Cello like in the beginning of this song ? th-cam.com/video/SiJYhmXjzBc/w-d-xo.html
Ok, glad to hear you got your serial eventually at least :P I wish there was a way to just show it right on the Thank You page, but after some research and asking around it seems this is not possible with Shopify. That's awesome, I really like that track. And actually I've already made a library which can kind of get that sound. It'll be announced on this channel around Halloween. Currently it's already available on Zero-G: th-cam.com/video/Pi6_tqEZi2Q/w-d-xo.htmlsi=DkUwmA_ZjzfirpAy&t=1411 I figured out this unusual way to record percussive cello which makes it so you get lots of happy accidents. If you just roll midi chords, you can get it to sound like this: th-cam.com/video/O948bXXpxcs/w-d-xo.html
@@ben-osterhouse Wow, I didnt know about this library. It sounds similar-ish, I will def. buy it, thanks. But please try to see if you can get the percussive Cello strings to play a bit more loosely, even closer to the example I gave you. You are so talented, thank you for your effort!
So impressive (and beautiful!!) Do two triggers at once send a different output?
Thanks. Yep!
Hey, Ben. Any chance of a version 3 or new release that covers a wider range of patterns?
I'd like to, but I don't know when I'll have time.
Hi Ben, Thank you for creating such fantastic instruments! I truly appreciate the concept and the performances. Your strings, not just on the cello, have a special, perhaps "dark" color, but are incredibly beautiful. Great! Currently, I own "Sospiro String" and I'm considering purchasing "Pattern Strings" and "Pathfinder Cello" (a great concept!). I believe "Pattern Strings" could benefit from more patterns using eighth-note cells, especially upbeat ones, which would make it easier to create Stravinsky-style ostinatos (just kidding). Does it make sense for you? Additionally, I've noticed that some cells are half-note length while others are quarter notes, which can be a bit confusing. I'm curious if this variation is intentional on your part. It would be interesting if you could perhaps explain this in a future video. The second feature I would like to request is the ability for the plugin to act as a mute, emitting only MIDI notes (and CC). This could be useful for triggering brass or other external instruments without strings, although I understand this might not be possible in Kontakt. Do you foresee a version 3 in the future? Thanks once again, Giorgio
Hi Giorgio, I see YT notifications were off, so I'm just seeing a bunch of comments now. Thanks for the email :)
Hi Ben, Yet another great concept! I already own Sospiro String sand I love your deliveries. An idea comes in mind when concerning maybe a new release for pathfinders and pattern strings. Your VST s could emit MIDI notes and CCs going along with the samples. IN this way by example Pathfinder Cello could emit MIDI notes to trigger other external instruments. Does it make sense for you? Thanks anyway! giorgio
Hi Giorgio, you've gotten me thinking more about midi tools... I definitely have some ideas there now!
@ben-osterhouse Oh, great! Let me know if you need a part-time beta tester or someone to bounce ideas off of (with humility)! :-)
@@solyarisoftware Will do!
Péssima apresentação... muita conversa
Не понятно, как это использовать на практике в реальном проекте...
Bless you, Ben. This really is amazing and incredibly admirable what you've achieved here. I've only recently discovered this library and I appreciate all the hours of careful work, planning and thought you've put in to producing it. First off, it sounds gorgeous, and it's great to see the excitement on your face when playing with the results. Secondly, in a saturated market of orchestral libraries, this is certainly a unique and inspirational tool that stands out amongst the crowd. Keep up the great work and best of luck with your music and business adventures.
Thank you! I have recently realized YT notifications were off, but they are on now!
Amazing plugin. Is it possible to reproduce all the common type of string articulations, like pizz, staccato loure etc…? I love the creative possibilities, seem to be endless. Congratulations
Just seeing this now --I will respond to comments sooner in the future. Indeed, endless possibilities! Thank you :) I think sustained, bowed articulations would probably work best, at least for note transitions. However, it would be possible to include in the engine, articulations which are only sampled once per note (no note transitions to every other note). These could be pizz, staccato, etc. and if recorded\played right, could become quite useful!
the most magical string library in extistence. spitfire et al all sound samey and soulless compared to this
Hi Ben, I purchased Sospiro Strings from lootaudio in 2020. I have 2 questions. I'm still on version 1.1 and wanted to know if after updating to version 1.5, the instances will load correctly in my projects? Second question, Is there a way to get the 1.5 version without using the Pulse software? Unfortunately, i've had really bad experiences with Pulse on my system. I hope for your understanding.
Hi, thanks for reaching out. Just seeing this now (Needed to turn notifications on). If you'd like to follow up on this, you could shoot an email through the contact form on osterhousesounds.com.
