It looks like you've sold the DRV but I'm curious what your final thoughts were about Gen-Y. Would you recommend it to someone who is frequently on the road. In Florida you can't just park and hookup a big RV on vacant land without a special permit, but you can legally be on your land at any hour of the day if you follow all the building, health, environmental and noise ordinances. Something about downsizing your rig and being more mobile, off grid and off road. You can legally clear a patch way in the back, fence and drill a well even without a primary dwelling. No you can't live there .. whatever that means to a nomad. I see people using their vacant land for storage and projects and no permits or violations on that land. Personally the county of a small town for land on the outskirts is gonna be a lot more understanding and have more due process than some money hungry HOA that owns your RV lot and is obsessed with rules and budgets.

Since you was changing the pin box you should have got the Gen-Y Executive gooseneck version and ditched the heavy standard hitch in the bed of the truck. Missed opportunity there!

You should of left the hitch higher , and it looks too close to your cab , the morryde pin is longer gives you more clearance for a sharp turn like that

I have to DIY my camper. Its old and had been modified before I got it so i have lots to do including the pipes underneath so this helps me greatly.

The F450 is way more capable than the payload numbers say on the sticker. However, you can only go to 14K on GVW to not require a CDL. All the heavier components on the F450 weigh more so that means less CCC all things being equal. 14k minus a heavier truck will put the CCC lower than a 350. It is just a numbers game created by the 14K max to keep from having to get the CDL. If not for that limit, then the F450 would have several thousand pounds more CCC available.

Thank you for info. How is this working out for you after having it on your rig for a while? I just purchased a 2022 LX 455 myself with having a 2020 F450. I had seen that this was an issue before picking it up and it’s super frustrating that I’m not getting Half of the turn radius you were getting on this with your set up. Just want to make sure before I purchased a GENY that this is sufficient? I also have a level kit with a larger tire (37”)on my truck so it may also create some differences but should be pretty similar. Thank you.

I'm sure you've been doing it forever, but having the breakaway cable behind the hitch kind of defeats the purpose of having the cable since the trailer will already hit the tailgate before the brakes lock up.
