Five Minute Snacks
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 4 มิ.ย. 2023
Memorable nibbles from the TV shows and movies that I consumed in my youth and that informed, shaped, and transported me to other realities. After a lifetime of travel, books, and with fewer years ahead of me than behind me, my hope is that this brings joy to someone out there.

"With the clothes on their back they came through a storm and the one's that didn't die want a better life and they want it here". I'm British and I will always argue for immigrants. They traverse *the* busiest shipping lane in the world in a dinghy and ignorant people think it's because their buddy called home and said "come sponge off the British government". They're willing to work, they'd produce taxes to help shore up the country. Per capita more British born claim benefits than non-British born. If people stopped fighting the issue and allowed a speedier citizenship we'd have more people willing to work to keep this country going.
Genius.... straight out of the Shakespeare playbook but genius none the less.
they twisted it so bad lmao, it was pakistan who invaded indian side of kashmir
A tv show twists some history here, FOX & friends twists reality there. And what of it.
Great scene, because: great writing, and great actors.
Based on crime statistics in Washington DC, there's a 95% chance Charlie's mom was killed by a black criminal. Democrats don't want to put such criminals in jail. "Mass incarceration" is a bad look for Democrats. It's more politically palatable to blame the bullets.
Rob/Sam was the absolute best…with Leo being close second! I loved the Rob/Mallory dynamic 🤍
Went from shy and quiet to confident and still a bit quiet. 😂❤
The only bad thing is seeing after watching the whole series and noticing no mention of Debbie Fitterer, but instead someone named Misty. For continuity’s sake, I wished they would have followed up with the same name so we would see the connection years later.
But they do. It's not Misty, it's miss DiLaguardia. Which Is Debbie's ex-Husbands last name. She mentions it when we first meet her at her house. S3E23
Absolutely one of my favorite scenes from the entire series.
I really did love John Marbury's character. He was so much fun to watch.
If they made a remake of the west wing, i imagine Charlie as a possible President, Vice President or Congressional canidate after having learned so much watching Bartlett then working for CJ
There were more red heads in the West Wing than all of Washington DC. God Bless the show for each and every one of them.
"Ive never felt this way" "It doesnt go away" Damn right. 20 years later I still get emotional watching this show. Quite literally the BEST show EVER made.
Absolutely agree.
The greatest love story ever on TV was between Jed Bartlett and Charlie Young. Was a shame when he moved to work with CJ, I get it was needed for Charlie’s storyline; but I missed seeing the interactions between JB & CY.
Although hesitant at first to take the job,Charlie became a beloved member of the family. On an unrelated note when President Bartlett was giving his address about the attacks he did exactly what a leader should do. He was confident, articulate, reassuring. All qualities that we as Americans should demand in our candidates. Differing opinions does not mean you have to be hateful.
NO.
Dule Hill was a brilliant choice for this role - he played it masterfully.
They never got his titles right, but gave him some of the best lines: Leo: “Lord Marbury, under our constitution the President is not empowered to create maharajas.” Marbury: “Yes, thank you for clearing that up, Leo. Having been educated at Cambridge and the Sorbonne, I am, as you know, exceedingly stupid.”
First I’ve noticed the door casings on the Oval Office doors are missing - like the real White House. In the rest of the series the doors have casings.
Well he is the deputy White House Communications director and counsellor to the president. Not the curator of the White House historical site. His job is in the administration, not facility management or the history of the building. There are people who are quite well informed about the house, the rooms, the furniture, gifts etc. They should have been brought in for that.
The *GREATEST* show in the _History_ of television.
Agreed!
Who asks a 12 year old about abortions?
The right to choose can be about abortion, it could be about giving or withholding consent for touching. I think in this case we are to believe that it was a discussion about abortion. And President Grandpa also seems to think it off that they went from superficial tween stuff a little beyond what you might as a child of that age.
Who asks a 12 year old about abortion?
Welcome to the American Evangelical world...
Always took issue with the Roosevelt room scene. Sam is always presented as a genius, there's no way he doesn't know some history of the White House, and absolutely no way what-so-ever he doesn't know who the 18th president was or which Roosevelt the room was named for. And no, don't give me "some geniuses have blind spots," that's not accurate to how Sam has been drawn. First episode though, and they were still catching their stride and flushing out characters and tone.
Just realize it was a meet cute for Sam and Mallory, that they tried to build to be a thing
What a great montage for a Newbie Fan of this Show! LOLOL I remember the first time I saw this and thinking, "Geez, can it get any worse for this young man?
I would also think Sam would think Leo probably wouldn't have a daughter who's about eight years old.
Well there’s that republican congressman whose young son who was made famous last week for making those faces while his dad spoke. The congressman is in his 60s I believe so it’s not totally out of the realm of possibility that Leo could have a young daughter. 😃
Pierre Elliot Trudeau had a daughter long after he retired as prime minister.
Love, Ms. Landingham -
They always leave out the bit where he mentions where the glasses are.
I always think the same. It essentially gets him the job.
Yea, sets up the whole thing.
Glasses were the best part of Charlie's "interview "
Missing some characters. Did you have some problems?
No way a 3L at Georgetown doesn't know the term POTUS.
More like No way you'd expect any rando you pick up in a bar for a one-nighter to work for the White House... 🤡
@@derrickstorm6976 in an upscale bar walking distance from 1600? I'd say your chances are 50-50.
Back in 1999, before social media proliferated that acronym? Yeah, I'd say so.
@@paulshawley6490 believe it or not, there was life before social media.
@@paulmasuicca5304 I'm 64 and I'm grateful that there was - my point still stands.
Definitely, 1 of my very, favorite characters! His teasing Leo, (GERALD!,) was hilarious but Lord Marbury knew his stuff
So much crap on TV these days - but the west wing was a star rising above all the drivel were subjected to now Missed seeing all the seasons when it was on Amazon or Netflix couple years ago. Will remain optimistic it returns
Sorry if you already knew all this, but it’s available on Max (formerly HBO Max), at least in the U.S.-not sure internationally. And also on Max is the special they did in 2020, in which they restaged the “Hartsfield’s Landing” episode as a play.
Charlie..."I've never felt like this before." Josh..."It doesn't go away." Just amazing writing.
A light. A large pot of coffee, 12 Jammy dodgers, and a Fez. 😢 Roger rees would've been an excellent Doctor
I can see Lord Marbury wearing his Fez smartly!
And I was thinking that if there ever was a young Bartlet series, Matt Smith would be a good young Lord Marbury. I'd love to see how he met with Bartlet and why Leo feels that way about him
@@cgtq1986 Oh...this sounds really good! Especially the Valley between Leo and His Lordship! 🤣 👋
Damn.. good point
One of the best episodes of a great series.
I remember thinking after each episode of the first season..."I hope this is a Long TV Series"! 😉
