Salamanca/Ciudad Rodrigo: HUGE Tapas Tour of the Western Frontier!
Time for luxury. Time for golden streets and ancient buildings. Time for tapas.
It was a real joy to return to the gorgeous city of Salamanca - by far one of the prettiest in Spain - this time armed with a camera and a Laura. We stuffed our faces, sure, we watched the European football final, sure. But we also added a prelude.
I had always wanted to visit Ciudad Rodrigo, only a few kilometres from the Portuguese border, so we began there and started as we meant to carry on.

Andalucía Adventure #2: Malaga!
มุมมอง 60214 วันที่ผ่านมา
After the hot hinterlands of Córdoba province (with a dash of Seville), it's time to head south further towards the coast and revels in the majesty of Malaga province. We take in villages Cabra, Zuheros, Luque, Priego de Córdoba and Inzájar before relaxing in the elegant capital. Then to wineries (Sancez Rosado and Almijara) and villages white and blue (Júzcar, Parauta, Cómpeta, Salares and Com...
Andalucía Adventure #1: Córdoba!
มุมมอง 51528 วันที่ผ่านมา
Part one of a huge foodie adventure through the provinces of Cordoba and Malaga! On this first leg we head to the spectacular city of Córdoba with its beautiful old town and UNESCO mosque. But there's also time, of course, to hit the pueblos: Montoro, Almodóvar del Río, Aguilar de la Frontera, Estepa, Carmona and Écija. There's food, there's wine, there's white walls. Anything else needed?ç Tho...
SORIA: 16-Stop EPIC Tapas Crawl in Spain's 2nd Smallest Capital

Soria. Most people haven't heard of it. People who have either haven't been there, know nothing about it, or have passed through on the train or bus somewhere else. Error. This might be Castilla y León's most perfect short trip food-filled, untouched city. Steve and I gorge ourselves silly as we enjoy the ancient churches, friendly locals and placid Duero waters. You really should get off that ...
TOLEDO! 6-Stop Food Tour around a Medieval UNESCO gem
มุมมอง 5402 หลายเดือนก่อน
TOLEDO! You've heard of it. You've read about. You may have been. You've probably seen videos about it. So what could I possibly add to the pantheon of tourist videos? Well, perhaps not much. Some interesting food spots, some nice views, a bit of history and our irreverence. I put off doing a Toledo video forever, because I thought it too obvious. But Laura and I went, ate, drank, and saw Toled...
DIVERXO: Eating at the 3rd BEST Restaurant in the WORLD Before it Closes!

Well. This was it. My white whale. DIVERXIO, 3 Michelin Stars. The brainchild of mad punk chef David Muñoz. Now I would never ever normally be able to go to a place like this, also, as per the channel, my vibe is usually rustic local places. But, I was lucky and honoured to get an invite. You don't say no to an opportunity like that! What followed was a meal as spellbindingly confusing as it wa...
Semana Santa in Madrid! What to see and where to eat!
มุมมอง 4533 หลายเดือนก่อน
Semana Santa. Easter. Holy Week. A speciality of Spain's religious calendar. Most people's minds head to regions like Andalucia, but every year Madrid has become far more popular as a location for Easter. Processions, drum cavalcades, virgins and Jesuses. Everything is on offer. But also Laura and I wanted to show off the foods usually eaten at this time of year. So from Maundy Thursday, throug...
Ribera del Duero: Villages and Wines!
มุมมอง 7814 หลายเดือนก่อน
An escape, a brief bit of freedom, to the third prong of the holy trinity or 'Rs'. I did Rueda, I drank everything in Rioja and now it is the turn of an adventure around Ribera, Ribera del Duero. This wine region, not even two hours north of Madrid, is in the heartland of Castilla y Leon. As well as hundreds of kilometres of vineyards there is a dazzling array of towns, villages, castles and ca...
Rueda: visiting Spain's most FAMOUS white wine region!
มุมมอง 7168 หลายเดือนก่อน
Something a little different to the traditional video. A professional winery visit with my business partner Roque Madrid to Bodega Javier Sanz out in DO Rueda. Rueda is the country's premier white wine region, producing Verdejo wines that are found in almost every bar in the country. Is that good? Well, that's a debate for another time. But they are important wines regardless. We were lucky to ...

So, this is a shorter, different style of video than usual. More of an update. I went a wrote a book, a novel: "Hikikomori: Journey From Darkness" But this is my third book. It's not clickbait, but my lord it sounds like it. Laura and I head off for a mad day in the northeast of the Madrid province. Once again returning to the Sierra Norte (see our previous video here: th-cam.com/video/9a_ppZnWeEI/w-d-xo.html ) we explore more crazy corners just a stone's throw from the capital. First off an abandoned train station and a, possibly ill-advised, journey through a rai...

This video features my favourite spots in Cordoba: Cafeteria La Confianza immediately became our breakfast number one spot (great quality at a cheap price), and Bodegas Mezquita had really delicious tapas (esp. the flamenquin) and local sweet wine. A lot of pleasant memories. Next time you're in Cordoba, do not miss La Trapperia, an awesome craft beer spot with character. Also, with the Mezquita ticket, you get free entry to the basilica!

My knowledge of Toledo visually is basically El Greco and historically its importance in the three cultures period as so much classical Greek thought came via Arabic to Toledo where the Jews translated it into Latin and it was another source of knowledge that kindled the renaissance in other places. So the food was interesting to see.
