Thanks, George! I'm glad you liked it!
Brisbane, after dark Jordan plays for Mr. Vain Music lights the room...
Highlight of my day: Mohr Words writes a haiku verse, ever well-spoken.
@@jordanasmussen I enjoy the challenge, and, if it entertains you, even better. Thank you :)
Really great! TH-cam put this waaaay down the list when I searched for piano versions of this song… glad I happened to find it. Your ‘sing & play’ performance was better than many others I watched before this one. I enjoyed this. Thank you.
I'm really glad you liked it, Sue! It's a groovy tune, isn't it?
Nice! Kinda like it as 4/4 swing. Goes by too quickly as a waltz. Also, the chords can be bit vague and the form can be weird like other Burt Bacharach tunes. Your version seems manageable. May have to borrow your arrangement 😎 Great singing, playing and feel!!!
Thanks so much, @jzgtr100! I'm definitely influenced by a few of my favourite versions, such as the one by Sinatra and Basie, or Cécile McLorin Salvant's recording (both of which are in 4/4). So I can't take credit for much in terms of my arrangement, but I'm still really glad you liked it!
Great job! In particular, that piano solo was something else -- lot's of harmonic texture and intriguing voicings! Very cool! Yoy have a great ear for intricate jazz harmonies. And you seem to do it effortlessly!
Thanks, Ron! It all comes down to practice and lots of listening, at the end of the day. But I also have my fair share of 'happy accidents' too!
I am singing with you from Port au Prince, Haiti. This is one of my favorites. Keep it up ❤
I'm glad you liked it, Alix! It's really gratifying and humbling to know that my music is bringing joy to people around the world!
I envision a restaurant full of people taking their dinners home because they are so focused on enjoying you, they forget to eat ;)
Hahaha! I don't think that's quite happened yet, but maybe one day . . .
One of your best vocals Jordan. Outstanding.
Thanks, Trev! It's one of my favourite songs.
Amazing Voice !!
Thanks, Ton Accordion!
Wauw❤❤❤
Thanks, Nina! I'm so glad you liked it!
Beautifully played and sung. I had a great time playing some Erroll Garner and Bob James tunes for my musician friends.
Thanks so much, Brian! And it's always so much fun jamming with friends, isn't it?
I saw your short about the song. Both videos are great. You look like a million bucks in that tux!
Thanks, Ron! I'll definitely have to record some more songs in my tux sometime soon!
The second version of lyrics and song title are more evocative and affecting than the original effort, IMHO. Lovely interpretation.
Thanks, Mohr Words! And I hope you're starting to feel a bit better, too.
@@jordanasmussen Recovering, finally; I appreciate the well-wish :)
Very cool. I like your more melodic and extended intros. They pull me in. And you have a nice vibrato going in you voice. Finally, your low register is getting super confident - even bold. Really good stuff.
Thanks so much, Ron! I'll definitely try to add a few more extended intros into the mix, then.
Excellent! I really enjoyed this.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it, George! And it's always a pleasure to hear from a fellow musician.
Love your voice ! try to sing Bossa nova? ex.Jobim
Thanks, Ton Accordion! I've got a few Bossa Nova songs in my repertoire, though I'm still not quite as confident with a bossa feel as I am with swing. Here's a playlist with a few bossa tunes that I've recorded: th-cam.com/play/PLepDa7Jv-_pGd_9j2ll1GUmYimdl2dO3t.html
@@jordanasmussen Thank you Jordan !!
What a great song, well played.
Thank you!
Beautifully played. Great left hand control.
Thanks, Brian!
hey! What key is this in?
Hey, Mira! It's in F major, though the harmonies move around quite a bit!
Nice work :)
Thanks :)
Beautifully played.
Thanks so much, Brian!
Jordan, what keyboard are you playing, here?
It's a Roland RD-88, which I use as my gigging keyboard. It's lightweight, has a mic input, a built-in mixer and EQ, built-in speakers (though I also plug into an external speaker), decent action, and was fairly budget-friendly. For what I need, I've found it to be the perfect balance of portability, playability, and cost!
I dont know where this video came from, but this sounds amazing man, great job! Seriously talented, keep it up
Thanks so much, Reggles! I'm so glad you liked it!
Well, that was a Master Class. We all know musicians who couldn't swing if they were lynched, but you seem to swing even by just breathing. Was it just 3 months ago (I lose track of time) your vocals were maybe a bit tentative and "shy" - but now Nat King Cole would be leaning forward in his seat thinking "What was that?" If there is justice in the universe your hard work will pay off. I say prayers for you. Hell, I have told my wife about this kid from Perth (I had to tell her where it was!). I thought pop music was dying. Well, maybe not. Good luck and God bless. I feel honored just being along for the ride. Cordially...
Thank you so much, Ron! It really is gratifying to know that my progress is showing. And the honour's all mine, to be able to share this great music and help to keep it alive. Just one little correction; I'm based in Brisbane, not Perth. Same country, but a different state. 😊
@@jordanasmussen Where the hell did I come up with Perth?? Oh well. Brisbane, Bribane, Brisbane.... Now, it should stick! Take care.
What's that heavenly voice!
Glad you liked it, Elizabeth!
Mind, blown Imagine, four sets of lyrics The requisite atmospherics Before the tune found its home :)

I was having a hectic morning, this popped up. I sat for a little while and had a listen. Thank you.
Glad to hear it helped, Dean! Music certainly helps me through tough times too!
Wow, your vocals are getting so much stronger and your piano chops are first class. And you're doing this LIVE. Very cool!!!!
Thanks so much, Ron!
That’s a formative song for me. I’ve got a couple show tune requests from Cabaret. I Don’t Care Much and Maybe This Time
Thanks, @finch2213! Those are great tunes; I'll add them to the list!
love this so much
Thanks, Kav! It's such a fun tune!
Wow! I am 71 and have heard this song my whole life song by the best (think Doris Day's version in front of a hundred piece orchestra! Harps and everything...), but all these recordings gave the song all of 2 and half or 3 minutes. Until now I never really liked the song. You've changed my mind. You gave it a great introduction that took the time to really set the mood (haunting, bitter-sweet, sad longing) and then you gave the song a full exploration and really delved into its nuance. Your tempo was perfect (most versions are a bit quicker). You took your time as if you were thinking the lyrics spontaneously. I know you're "just" a young man from Perth getting started, but yours is the best rendition of this song I have ever heard. Seriously. Thanks.
My goodness! Better and better. Makes sense, you must practice and practice and practice to do as many recordings as you do. Thanks for all your work! It's fascinating!
Thanks, Ron! Playing a gig every week has proven to be a great way to keep improving, that's for sure. But it's very gratifying to know that you can see progress already!
@@jordanasmussen I used to gig on jazz trumpet and guitar. I have heard it said that an hour performing is worth weeks of practice. It sure puts your practice to the test!!!

Very cool. Also a Request for "No one ever tells you" Recorded by Sinatra and others
Thanks, Danny! And thanks so much for the song suggestion; I'd never heard that tune before, and I love adding new songs to my repertoire. That Sinatra recording is so good! Frank's singing and Nelson's arrangement-perfection!
@@jordanasmussen Thanks Jordan. Yes it just seems to have that Special Sinatra moody feel for that period of time.
Very nice. Super cool the way you "stretched" the melody the second time through. Not a lot of singers can do that and make it flow (and you did it while playing piano!). You the Man!
Thanks so much, Ron! Glad you liked it!
Hey Jordan, love the music! I messaged you on Facebook regarding antique top hats, could I get your input on that sometime?
