      Yes, I've heard the same thing but if you want to experiment safely, you could try having a separate jar and experiment with one single cutting combined with willows and give it a go.

    I have a few different snake plants, all in leca with bottom reservoirs and they are growing new pups often, healthy and happy. I agree soil is great but I do love the semi-hydroponics for many of my 32 plants (Just gave 10 to friends out of 42). My Larentii is doing well in soil so left it there. My Whalefin has in two years or less had three pups and 2 grand pups and 1 great grand pup, all in leca!

    I have one I have grown from 1 leaf cutting. My goodness this plant grows so slowly!!! It does its best in the Summer heat. I had it in a self-watering pot and it loved it. I moved it in bigger pots and the roots were out of this world. I want it to trail more so I used hair pins to pin it down to the soil and will see what happens. This is one plant I don't want to prop.

      @plantsbutbetter 26 วันที่ผ่านมา

      So true, it's growing slowly but I'm happy to hear you did it eventually 💚 if you want to make your plant fuller in the future, you could try propagating it in sphagnum moss wich works wonders during summer

      @@plantsbutbetter I think I will just order one from Etsy. The vendor that I purchase from sells huge rootbound plants. I had to learn to stop being so cheap. Some plants you should purchase big and if you want to prop, then use a leaf with a node. I have come a long way. That plant stayed at one leaf for almost two years.

    I run all the water I get from my dehumidifier through a jug water filter (that’s purely only for dehumidifier water!) & use it for all my plants. They are thriving and very happy. I will add, I occasionally use a Hepa filter in the machine.. not all the time. But I do have two carbon filters that clean the air before it runs through the machine. The carbon filters are regularly cleaned to remove the build up of dust. I’ve just read that dehumidifier water is also ideal for use in a steamer.. good to know

I however did not care, I was a complete plant noob and even to this day I do not really care that much about variegation. However, I do have a south-east facing window and somehow all of my plant buddies seem to be doing fine in my care, including the princess! Why do you leave half of the stem in the water for the 1st cutting? Isn't it enough that the root is in water? Im asking because i bought a cutting, and that's what the seller recommended, only put the root in the water. My cutting has 3 aerial roots, and one of them is rather long, so it was possible to put in a vase this way, the stem is not submerged at all. Is it better or worse, does the stem need water?

    • @plantsbutbetter
      @plantsbutbetter 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's recommended to keep only the roots in water since some cuttings are sensitive and could rot easily. I kept mine with half of the stem only because my plant was very healthy and acclimated to my conditions and I knew it has very little chance to rot, but if your cutting is fresh and has transit stress/damage, the seller's advice is good advice.
