Trolling For Trout Before Winter | Winter Fishing
The rainbow trout were handing out suspended over 30 feet of water between 10-15 feet down. With the cooler 42 degrees water temps the targeted 1.4-1.6MPH trolling speeds.

Suzuki DF25A 9 Pitch Propeller | RPM Test
มุมมอง 281หลายเดือนก่อน
This was a validation test for this OEM Suzuki 9 pitch propeller. I needed to check the RPM after my previous speed test because I didn’t use a tachometer on the last test. This test revealed a good 5300 RPM but my speed was still 2 MPH slower than the 10 pitch propeller the motor came with (15.5 vs 17.5 MPH). I don’t quite understand how I can raise RPM but loose speed. The only thing I can th...

Water temps started at 46.5 degrees and rose to 49 degrees by the end of the day. The LakeMonster app thermal map appeared accurate within 1 degree of actual water temps. We started trolling at 1.7 MPH but found the trout preferred 1.9-2.1 MPH. We were letting 50 feet of line out and clipping in a 1oz weight then letting out 30 feet more feet in the morning. As the day went on the fish pushed d...
Suzuki DF25A with 10-1/4X9 pitch propeller | Not what I expected
มุมมอง 8725 หลายเดือนก่อน
So far the OEM Suzuki 10 pitch propeller is out performing the OEM Suzuki 9 pitch and the Solas 9 pitch as far as speed goes. All while having lower RPM than the two 9 pitch props tested. I’m going to bring the tachometer out next time I’m on the water to see what the actual RPM with the OEM Suzuki 9 is but being 1 MPH slower is not a good sign.

Today had air temps in the mid 90's with water temps between 69-71 degrees. Pitching and jigging to the fish was unsuccessful so I switched to trolling a Berkley Flicker Shad 5 and a Worden's Spin N Glo Bottom Walker with a Berkely Hammered Crawler harness behand it. Troll speeds were between 1.3-1.6MPH which is what the Saugeye wanted today. They were holding on bottom and slightly above botto...
Suzuki 25HP Propeller Test (2024 DF25A)
มุมมอง 2.5K6 หลายเดือนก่อน
Today we are comparing a factory Suzuki DF25A 10-1/4X10 pitch propeller versus a Solas 11X9 pitch propeller. The hole shot with the 9 pitch felt quicker but I had a harder time maintaining top speed. I was able to increase the RPM by ≈ 80 RPM. With the 10 pitch I felt more consistent thrust at the top end but left a lot more RPM on the table.
2024 Suzuki DF25A Break In Procedure
มุมมอง 1.8K6 หลายเดือนก่อน
This is day two of the break in procedure on the water. Worked up to 1/2 throttle, 3/4 throttle and eventually full throttle. I still have seven hours of break in left until I can run full throttle for more than five minutes but so far I’m pleased with the performance. 10 pitch propeller ram 17.2 MPH at 5200ft elevation.

Hola sabrías decirme por donde se endulza es que no lo encuentro gracias
The Google translate didn’t make quite make sense, you want to know where what is?
Si exacto
What reel is that?
That’s an Okuma Convector low profile line counter.
@ great thanks! I’m looking to start trolling for trout. I live out in Oregon and sometimes the rivers get blown out.
@ good luck to you that’s a nice reel for the price.
bro put some tension at least😭
I just got a trickler today.. another video said you have to turn the knob counterclockwise... I don't know I'm new to this little powder trickler... I notice you were doing it clockwise... I guess it don't matter I'll try both ways
IMHO - I had always been a fan of Duckworth boats, which seem to be the "Rolls Royce/benchmark" but recently have fallen in love with Wooldridge boats, greatly designed, built tough, and more utilitarian than luxury
Thanks for fishing the Eagle Claw Featherlight Pro trolling rods!
Having the correct propeller is very important to achieve maximum speed and maximum rpm outboard tolerance, but to determine this for your boat you need to get that engine at the correct height, you should start by putting your cavitation plate flush with the transom, you will probably need a jack plate to get it to that height. The mounting of any outboard should start at dead flush to 1" above the bottom of the hull for the anti-ventilation plate. Once the water surface exits the transom, it rises at a rate of 1 inch per foot. Most engines when parallel will end up being approx 12 inches from the transom to the leading edge of the prop hub, which is why in general, 1 inch above the hull bottom is the expected norm...... so there is not an absolute rule here........ Ideally the cavitation plate should be touching the water at max speed and not submerged. Greetings. juliovideo.
As it’s mounted now the cavitation plate is flush with the bottom of the boat. Looking at the cavitation plate while at wide open throttle I can see that it is particularly submerged and not at the waters surface so a jack plate will likely be needed. That being said I’m still curious if the prop shop can tune this propeller and get me better performance than the 10 pitch for now and invest in a jack plate down the road. Thank you for the information!
Wow 🤩 Nice 👍
Enjoyed the video. Also just subscribed to your channel for future vids. Keep them coming and good luck
Thanks you!
i have 2 lake trolls, 18 inch boom, will the telescopic booms fit and would you recommend if so, great vid, thank you
I compared my Mag10 and the Easi Troll and it looks like without the reduction collar the telescopic boom should work fine. Do you run your downriggers out the side or out the back? Also do you have the rotating bases?
@trollin2021 I actually just bought them and put them on a boat I picked up, next spring will be the first time with this boat in the water, I'm a newbe to downriggers and yes I got swivel bases for them, gonna be a learning process for me but think telescopic be better than the 18 inch boom
@trollin2021 I mounted them about a foot back on the side, on a 61 sea king
For the price of buying two booms I would save the money and buy a Uni Troll. The 2:1 retrieval ration makes a big difference and you get the extendable boom anyways.
Who came here from Fishbrain
I agree 100% about the fusion hooks. Junk. I change them out before I go out. Good video
Good content and filming. Thanks for including the details at the end. The Fickr Minnows work well for me in ontario as well.
You over science this boss ! Fish are stupid ! I make all my spoons from 1/8 to 1/16 thick stainless steel sheet metal from scrap yard . 5lb sheet for $ 10 bucks . Trace the spoon , Cut , drill hole and add hook ...your done ! 😂😂😂😂
I just ordered one today, where is the power trim and tilt switch located?
It’s right under the kill switch, about the middle of the steering shaft
good job
95 sea nymph?
That was a 94 good eye
@@trollin2021 I have a 95. Why did you sell this one?
I wanted a wider boat to have better side to side stability
Child should have a life jacket on.
Thank you for this information.
Thank you! I bought open box but it had no instructions. Appreciate the help man.

Nice. I'm thinking of downgrading my Mercury 9.9 to one of these. The Merc is heavy at double the weight. Thanks for sharing. 🎣🚤😊
@@mattwaters6987 so size downgrade but overall performance upgrade?
@brysonbland6377 I wouldn’t say a performance upgrade necessarily but going from a larger motor to a smaller one will be cheaper, save weight and this motor is very reliable.
Buddy I have the same motor and 32 mph is my max, you must have a heavy heavy boat!!! 😱 my boat is under 300 lbs.
Yeah brochure says my boat is about 900lbs dry.
I have one of those! I love the sound! Gotta little growl
Cool 👍😎
What’s the altitude change that you need to rejet it for?
I do must of my fishing between 6000ft-9000ft
Thanks for using Eagle Claw!
Hey there… just bought this exact motor as well. What battery would you recommend using? After changing the oil after the 10 hour break in period should I stick with the 10-30 oil and change the filter? Thanks -Brady
I’m running an old marine lead acid at the moment and it’s worked just fine. And I would say stick with the 10W30
@@trollin2021got it! Thanks much!

I wstched this video from the Ausdie boat guy. th-cam.com/video/GE1_5IHxCTU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=c9wcpu97ow7_rnWm He mentions casting marks and blade width thickness and how it can effect preformance. A good prop guy should help ya....good luck
Hello. What was your max rpm with 9 pitch propeller? And maybe the 9 pitch one is heavier than the 10 pitch one because of the thickness. I got a suzuki df25a and i had the same problem as you. My prop was big for my boat which is 10.25/10. I just grinded it to make it samaller. I know its not good solution as buy a new 9 pitch one. But i can say it worked . My speed and my rpm is increased. For your situation i can only say the thickness of blade can be a problem.
I’m thinking so as well. I didn’t bring my tachometer out for this test because I figured it would be faster and I wouldn’t have to worry about it but since it was slower, I’ll have to bring it out on my next trim and see.
Awesome
Super informative. Nice video. I just moved to Breck and plan to do some jigging in Dillon. Have you ever done that?
No I haven’t but I know the ice fishing is decent for the arctic char in there.
Have a look at Lifeproof Boats in State of Washington. Three different classes professional, yachtline and pleasure craft. I have been looking and lusting for a while but need to win the lottery first. Also looking at OXE diesel outboard power.
Theres only 1 boat out of all the ones on your list. 22 Pac Pro Self Bailing Deck and No Foam !!!

Does to cost a lot to maintain?
Новый меркурий 5 сил у старого переключение хода было сбоку у этого спереди
Это мотор докатка. Нужен когда накрылся основной.
I agree, the taller diameter was too much. I bent my prop and went with a solas 10.5x11. Factory was 10.25x11. They say to load the the boat with your normal load and check the rpm at wot...adjust from there. Mine was tachin at 5800rpm/26mph. Quick question for ya, does your motor have a shake to it until it hits around 1100rpm then smoothes out?
As soon as I crack mine off idle it smooths out but it does shake at idle. I’ll be making a video on the OEM Suzuki 10.25X9 here shortly, it seems better than the Solas so far.
just got mine in april...cheap tach helped to keep it under the break in rpms. It is definitely a time consuming process.

That's some good speed for a 25 hp. What the max speed on a clear day?
The best I’ve gotten is 17.3MPH. I just got an OEM Suzuki 9 pitch I need to try.
@@trollin2021 that's really good. I have a 16 16 foot polar craft. It gets to 21 with a 20 hp Yamaha.

Suzuki replied that E5 PB 98 may cause the engine to overheat at maximum speed and they recommend E10 PB95 fuel. What valuable comments can you recommend to help me get this Suzuki right? Bede was starting to do the first 20mth Can I safely transport it in the trunk on the designated transport side? Nothing will happen ?
Suzuki would know best so trust what they say. As far as transportation the engine is marked on the side that it is safe to be laid on.
I bought a new SUZUKI DF15, can you advise me what fuel to use, E10 PB95 or E5 PB98?
I would aways go with the fuel with the lowest ethanol rating so I would do the E5 98.
I searched for a local gas station that still sold reg 87 with no ethanol
@@trollin2021 I drained the oil from the Suzuki DF15 after about 10 hours. I left it in the bottle and after a few days a white precipitate formed from the oil at the bottom, a lot of it. What could it be and what cause could it be? New engine, only 10 hours old I also see that at high speeds, white smoke comes out of this nozzle near the cooling water nozzle
@przemysaw124 I’m not sure about the white substance in your oil. I have emailed Suzuki Marine and before and they got back to me within my a few days so it might be worth shooting a photo of it over to them. Is the white smoke there as soon as you start the motor up or after it runs for a while?
@@trollin2021 Such a delicate smoke seems to appear later, but only at more than 3/4 throttle speed, because I already have 11 hours, so I allow myself to max out for a while.
Tohatsu!
