Historic Book Haul: Wars of the Roses and Six Wives!
Great video I'll start reading this book ❤ Appreciate your review
Love the comfy cozy murder mysterie with a witchy theme.
World building is awesome!!!!
Hey long time no see. I need to catch up. Good vlog.
This is amazing because the Bible states crowns dont endure forever
Hello there! I so appreciate the reading recommendations! I love your vibe and can't wait to check out more channel!!
I've seen the movie, just got the books 📚 great video! Thank you.
Hi fellow fae path goer! I was looking for Faery books when I found your channel. I do not have either of these books yet. I have been on the fence with it. I've done Emily Carding Faery Craft book /excersizes/ workshop and really enjoyed that. I'm currently going through a Wentz book too. There's a lot in it. So I read a little every day. Oh my goodness about the willow falling. Keep us updated on how that grows ❤
Oh wow! We have similar stories. I don't havw a writing channel just yet, but I'm hoping to. I've not been brave enough. I'm a writing witch now. I like your vibes! I am writing a novel myself. You and I write similar too. This is a good tag. Also, lovely earrings. ❤
Thank you! 🙏💜
World building is the best because not everything you create will be seen by the reader.
Wow its been a while. Good video.
I like your take on this!
I'm glad you found a way to plan that works for you! I've always been so terrible with outlines. I tend to put notecards on the floor and step around them like an insane person while trying to rearrange them lol. I have Scrivener but haven't figure out how to use it yet.
Also, your altar looks really nice!
Oh scrivener is seriously so incredibly helpful! I def recommend it to anyone I know who writes longer manuscripts! It actually even has a note card feature that's super handy! But I get you with the physical cards. I personally have a "murder wall" of stories and timelines but that gets a bit messy at times lol
@@abookishwitch5118 I'll for sure try looking at it again! "Murder walls" are good! haha.
The 4 books are amazing. I get obsessed with things and for years I didnt realise there were 4, I'm on the fourth and I buy a lot of books by Hoffman, she brings a story together like boss. You need to read these if you are obsessed with the movie. The whole root through the book is the curse. How trying to save people from harm is not always the right way to go. And the law of 3 and dark magic is not an option, it's more of a debilitating cross to bare when not used in a constructive and mature way. These books have lessons and spell casting that talks about nature and kitchen witchery that is so warming.
Just read the book it was good and watched the movie adaptation i did like it i have also read the prequel book i actually enjoyed it more will continue with the series
I fully understand the conundrum of the story and characters taking on a life of their own and steering you down a path that you hadn't totally planned for. I've learned to be more loose in my planning, so I don't get derailed, because I'm along for the ride just as much as the characters are. Loved hearing you chat about your process, and I'm glad you found a method that works for you!
I'm diving back into writing and just came across this. Glad to see you've got some newer preptober videos up! Love your vibes!
Thank you! And yay for getting back to it! Have so much fun! 💜
Impressed by your world building! That is something that I have been trying to get better at. Excited to see all the progress you make during nano ☺️
Thank you! Omg I Love word building so much. I've been doing this since before I had my own stories to tell lol
The story you're writing sounds so interesting and complicated! Can't wait to read it! I love that you are tackling your passion project.
Thank you so much! 🥹💓🙏 I can't wait to be able to share it with folks! And yes we mg I def recommend following ones passion whenever possible! It feels so good! ✨💜
Welcome back! I'm also getting back into posting on TH-cam this Preptober season. I'm looking forward to watching more of your videos and exploring more of your content. I still, unfortunately, haven't read the Lord of the Rings books, even though they've been on my to-be read list for forever! Hopefully, I'll get to them soon! I also want to eventually make a video on my thoughts about Harry Potter now (both from an objective and subjective viewpoint) and to really dive into my thoughts about that whole situation. Good luck with the rest of Preptober and with NaNoWriMo!
Awesome! Welcome back to you as well! I'm excited to hear about your journey so far too, as well as your Harry Potter thoughts! Can't wait! And omg yes Lord of the Rings absolutely lives up to the hype for so many reasons. It is so powerful and devastating in so many ways. I seriously cry at more moments in that story than almost, if not all other stories.
Hit send to soon lol meant to add- And good luck to you as well! I'm excited to hear about your project! 💜
I’m right there with you of having spent years not prioritizing a passion and feeling guilty when I did. I’m glad you’re not listening to the naysayers and pursuing your high fantasy! It’s not always about the money. You do you 🔥
Yeah, it's important not to compromise the story too much.
Nice video! Also love how you rock your hair.
I love having a playlist for my novel BUT I don’t write to it. It’s funny I can’t write to lyrics but the playlist (with lyrics) is what I play when not writing like while driving or brainstorming. It brings me back to my story and gives me more scenes and tension etc. BUT YEAH- no lyrics while I’m writing! I actually LOVE to write to ASMR rooms with rainstorms or jazz or whatever the theme. You should check them out!! They have stuff for all genres without lyrics.
Oh yes! I also love lofi beats and dark academia or classical played softly for when I'm writing non-dramatic scenes! And that actually makes a lot more sense that folks use lyrical music to brainstorm but not write along to! Maybe that's where I was getting confused about it lol
Love seeing what other people’s process is. I’m excited to follow your journey!!
Thanks for the post ☺️☺️
Welcome back! Happy to see you posting again. Love that you’ve been rereading those series and your own teaser sounds exciting! I’ll have to check it out :) Wishing you the best of luck with Preptober and Nano and I’m looking forward to hearing how your months go!
Thank you! I'm so happy to be back! I both love and hate summer for a multitude of reasons. This is my favorite time of year. ☕🍂😌📚
Just Subscribed 😊
Thanks for subbing!💜🤓
@@abookishwitch5118 Np 😊
Great advice I’ve been there new to the channel lots of great cubtebt here. Happy I found your channel. 😊
I actually have a bunch of both Philippa Gregory and Allison Weir. I enjoy both authors. Allison Weir's book about Henry VIII is very interesting despite it being very long. I hope you enjoy your books
There's a few cultures I want to read up more on. Greek being one of them. Myths are so interesting and sometimes fun.
Oh man your review definitely makes me want to go read her works! My own WIP is an Ancient Greek fantasy epic so I’ve been trying to read all these different retellings but the ones I’ve read are a different vibe entirely with how serious and purple their prose is. I struggled through a number of them and DNF’d another because it was just not the right vibe. If you’re into the artsy pretty prose, Circe and Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller might be up your alley along with Ariadne by Jennifer Saint.
Omg I Loved Circe! I'll definitely have to check out Song of Achilles and Ariadne just got added to my TBR a few nights ago! I'm extremely excited for that one in particular as I don't remember much of the OG myth.
Unlike so many other worldbuilding and series videos I’ve seen, you are so thorough without being irrelevant. Such great things to consider! Another fantastic video 👏🏻
Omg thank you so much! That's seriously incredibly flattering! 🥹💓🙏
Welcome to authortube! I'm a newbie and was looking at recent authortube newbie tags. Yours was one of the first I found ^^ Writing a book with mystery, horror, and fantasy can be such a FUN combo. And your writing schedule on the whiteboard is pretty impressive ngl ^^ Anyway, I'm excited to hear more about your projects! P.S. I love your background and necklace. Everything just screams fantasy-author-vibes.
Aww thank you so much for being here and welcoming me! 💜
I started using MBTI to develop some of my characters and it is SUPER USEFUL. Glad to see you talking about this!
I Love psychology! I'm suuuper introverted so it really helps me understand people who are extremely different from myself lol
@@abookishwitch5118 OH as an extremely introverted INXJ, I get it XD
I love your process!
Thank you so much! 💜
I love hearing how you’re working this out! I’m not ambitious enough to do multi pov over the course of my series but I love using Milanote to keep track of all of the ideas and what happens where. I’m all about planning because oof I can’t imagine effectively foreshadowing or laying out the breadcrumbs in an efficient way without it.
I feel that! I need a good balance but I'm also finding that at least for a series the scope I'm aiming for I absolutely Need to plot better lolol I'll check out milanote! I think I've heard of it. Thank you! 💜
What is your mbti and enagram
Main is INFJ but I have some aspects of a few others at times.
This pleases me as a psychology graduate. Characters and how they develop will somewhat depend on how writers write them and later edit them. It's really, indeed, about making them feel real but also making them feel they suit the story they are written for. Good work and I hope you keep making more videos. One thing that helps with making characters different from one another is making sure they can disagree and argue. It also helps to really make them interact with one another.
As a Portuguese American, the history of the Iberian Peninsula isn't really well known in the States... So, be prepared to look for scholarly books. Or if you're lucky, more entertaining reads. (The Jewish people were treated better during the Ottoman Empire rule of Spain and Portugal, but they were still treated poorly.)
Thank you so much! I'm excited to learn more!
Just rewatched the movie out of good old nostalgia and decided to finally read the books! So saving your video for after my read :) but in the meantime, I LOVE your vibe! Also your filming background is very well put together ❤ love your voice - very podcasty! 😊
Aw! Thank you so much! I really appreciate that! 💜
Tropes are way over done. Then again i dont write YA...lol this was a good video.
Tropes exist in all genres, not just YA. Tropes can be good or bad but only in a personal preference kind of way. Cliches are pretty much always objectively bad.
@@abookishwitch5118 yup😁😅
I'm glad I found your channel. Thank you for the book recommendations. These are my favorite videos.
Oh yay! Thank you! 💜
The movie was filmed in the San Juan islands near Seattle! It's one of those things that makes me proud to be from the Pacific Northwest!
I think I remember there being a big to-do because they had to get the entire downtown to agree to a repainting/facelift to look like a quaint little New England seaside town. But it's been a long time, I could be misremembering!
I always separate the Practical Magic book and movie. Both are great in my eyes! I have two more books in the series, but not the latest.
Great tips and awesome glasses!! As a busy working mom I love my lists! I don’t have a set method but I take weather and kiddo into account for what I get done when.
I, too, have a kinship with the Fae and have since I was a child. It's always great to "meet" someone else with Fae interests 👋 I've seen those two books around but I've yet to pick them up. Perhaps this is my nudge. Your wand is amazing and I look forward to seeing your progress with it if you chose to share, of course. No pressure to do so! So sad that the willow fell but perhaps indeed it will sprout new shoots and growth. Gorgeous candle, too. Blessings to you 🦚💜🪄
Thank you! I finished crafting my wand and I adore how it came out. I'll totally share it in my next video! 💜✨ Definitely check out these books if you're into faeries and the occult! I'm really loving the exercises. Much love, fam!
I've heard so many different things about the fae. I find all pagan, witchy stuff interesting. Right now I'm just an aspiring witch.
Everyone starts somewhere! 💜
Oh god around 6 min in I totally understand seeing this whole vision in your head and not being able to share it in it's entirety with others. And if you do it's more like getting the cliffnotes of your favorite movie rather than actually watching it.
Yes! It's flippin' difficult lol
I love that idea for you! And going to a burning sounds so cool. I have some little projects planned that I’m excited about that act as an ancillary to my novel… just finding the time to execute 🙈
Omg I feel you lol Being busy and needing to earn a living definitely makes it take longer to complete especially a first novel let alone anything else. But you got this! I'm excited for you and your project! 💜
Soon. You inspire me to dive into the TH-cam side and just embrace it. Keep up the lovely content ❤️
This is all really fantastic advice. As someone getting into writing stories for the first time the process of world building has been pretty daunting. I'm writing and drawing my own comic and the balance of fat/lean meat is a hard one to strike. Like adding too much is annoying, but so is having unanswered questions. Hell I like learning new little useless facts about the world's I read about. I guess the only advice I have, at least as a fantasy writer, is to not be afraid to ask "why not?" To your ideas. A lot of the beginning of my writing and drawing journey was bogged down by "why does my world need this" which is a very important question to answer. But for some things, I feel it's both fun and intriguing to have a few "why nots" in there. Like in my setting the moon and sun are giant glowing jewels in the sky, spawned front a great calamity that happened eons ago. Does this impact the story a ton? Right now, no, but I mean it's a cool idea to me and it doesn't hinder the story. So why not?
Yes! Exactly this! Not every scrap has to be relevant as long as it doesn't slow down or detract from your story. But I agree, fantasy is about the world building for me! I'm glad this was helpful or valid for you! Thank you!
