Just finished this game (full routes including true end), gonna give my short thoughts about it Best girl: Kaho Note: She was definitely caught my interest since the beginning and she was the perfect teacher for Protag's stupidity Worst girl: Arisa Note: being the main heroine, but man sometimes i couldn't handle her humors especially how she treated Protag throughout the game (I guess that's just how Tsun's trope goes) Best route: Kaho and Arisa Note: it's quite ironic that even Arisa is my least liked girl in this game, but her route was simply really enjoyable due to the Protag's backstory telling and the drama throughout of it. Kaho's route was also very good too since i can feel so much romance exchange on this one. It was well fitted for my best girl Worst route: Honoka Note: i really don't like how they writing this route, it was a bit cringy to enjoy ngl especially the way how they handled the drama OST rate: 7.8/10 Note: imo majority of the OST in this game wasn't that great but not bad, except for the ED songs because man they were bangers (considering they were composed by Taishi) so it was the only thing that supports it True end note: I felt this true end could have been the continuation of Arisa's route but instead this is "what if" The protag doesn't choose anyone i guess Overall: 7.4/10 I think this VN is kinda nice, not so great but not so bad either and it was fun grinding through the whole game and getting 100% completion on this one

My experience with Extra was full of surprises. I was one of those people who only planned to play either Sumika's or Meiya's route but ended up playing all of them. I was not a fan of its over the top comedy, but what I did like was the moments when the tone went somber and real. Heck, I thought that I was going to be rapid firing the enter key when I start the vn, but I ended up reading the entire intro calmly, and that was already with Takeru being an absolute ass and getting on my nerves. Either way, I agree with everything that you have said in this video. Given, that you have reviewed extra, I am expecting an Unlimited review NEXT :D

Regarding your message to the community, yeah, wrong expectations can really screw you over. I went into Muv Luv completely blind. Based off the name I kinda thought the whole thing was just a Romcom. Imagine my surprise when everything went totally haywire in Unlimited. On another note, can I take this as you actually being a Sumika enjoyer deep down? I guess best girl wins after all :^)

If you read three to four words at once, which is what I usually do, the bionic text is distracting. Maybe it helps someone with ADHD or something but for me it feels like a nuisance as and the concept of one side of a word being bold and the other not is just illogical and non artistic, just feels wrong.

Every single one of them is better than Akeno lol Not like that's a huge effort given that there's already canonical Better Akeno in DxD series anyways (Suzaku) lmao

It's true, reading Japanese with only hiragana compared to reading Japanese normally with 2-3 writing paterns makes it much easier to distinguish what you're reading and then you read quite faster that way. Though I still read english faster but that's how it is lol. The point is I don't think in Japanese it's necessary to somehow add bionic reading because you can already read it smoothly, quite the same as you say in the video.

Sounds pretty cool. I typically take more time to process information rather than actually reading it, although I think in slower scenes where there isn't a very high information density this could be very useful. I'm curious if it could also help with focusing on VNs for a long time as well. I typically find my reading and comprehension pace slow down as I keep reading for longer periods of time. But then again, maybe that's Autism/ADD related. Not like I have a frame of reference on what it's like to not have that. On a side note, I really appreciate these kinds of videos in between your big reviews. Nice way to keep the content flowing while you're reading a VN for your next review and also a nice change of pace.

i like the steam deck a lot... its so convenient... so i think this video was recommended to me because of that. but wtf is this about. i hear some sus things and im not sure what to think. all i know is that visual novels are like an anime PowerPoint presentation.

Eventually I will buy a steam deck but for now to read visual novels and some +18 vn are using my poco f5 with dark os emulator to play through box86/box64 with wine. In fact I want a portable device dedicated for vn's. Android can be a bit awful with some games and without microsd card 256gb internal storage isn't enough.

The video playback has gotten a lot better with recent Proton-GE versions, someone even merged protonfixes for the Yuzusoft games now. But yeah, I'm looking forward to buying one soon, though I'm getting a dualboot option since I'm also planning to use it for work.

Yeah, I don't like Valves double standards about VNs either, but god damn do I love the Steam Deck. I genuinely haven't encountered a single VN that didn't work at all so far. Never had trouble with H-Patches either, although I do admit that they can sometimes be a pain in the ass, especially since the installation method varies across different VNs. The video playback situation is also getting better and better as time goes on. Hopefully one day we won't have to worry about that anymore. As far as non-Steam VNs are concerned, you should give it a shot. It's actually quite easy to get them to work if they're DRM free (which most are anyways).Thankfully Valve has no issue letting you use your hardware for whatever you want. Either way, glad you're having a good time with yours. Those L4 and L5 buttons really come in handy, huh? :^)

I think short VNs are always great for people new to the medium. If it makes you cry, even better. Just goes to show how powerful the stories can be.
