Nearly 50% of foster homes close within the first year, largely due to a lack of support. But through our Love Box® program, we match dedicated volunteers like Ms. Gigi with families like Rikesha and Darrayl, and because of that support, their home remains open. “Without the Angels, without Ms. Gigi, we were closing our foster home. She is a foster parent’s dream. Our kids don’t know life without her.”
Ms. Gigi, who came to the U.S. in 1974 from war-torn Lebanon and entered the foster care system herself, knows firsthand the power of belonging and the need for relational permanence. “I wanted to give back to children because they need to feel like they belong. They need to feel loved. I’m the one being blessed by the kids. I’m gonna forever be their Gigi.”
That’s why the Austin Angels and National Angels network are here-to walk alongside these dedicated caregivers and help them succeed. When we start looking after our neighbor’s child like we would our own, real change happens. Kids become radically supported and seen.
