      The bottom of the piece had an indent, so it required a 3-part mould.

    I just found your channel and love your videos! Do you have any tips on which plasters to use and where to buy for slip casting(just starting out)? Anytips on brands, I cant seem to find USG #1 anywhere

      USG discontinued pottery plaster! It depends on the quality and how much you'd like to spend, so I would contact clay suppliers who also sell pottery plaster and ask where they source it for your area.

    I have a question how did you do the slip in the video did you just leave the clay to dry then break it and add water and is there a specific clay I should use

      You have a few options; pre-mixed slip where it is ready to go when used, powder slip where you add the water needed or you mix the ingredients yourself. When looking for the material, search for casting slip and read the technical sheets/ask the supplier what quality it is and will it work for your designs

      Hi, depends on the type of clay slip you buy eg. midfire, earthenware, stoneware or porcelain and their ingredient ratios that will impact the quality. It changes based on supplier

      There are recipes online that you can buy the individual ingredients to mix your own! It's pretty technical though, so I would do small batches to test.

      No, you need to have the right chemical balance if you are making your own clay slip! It definitely looks easier than it is hahah

      The clay is porcelain, it needs to be fired twice - bisque & stoneware. Pieces are made using a plaster mold that I created from a 3D print

      Each pigment calls for a different measurement ratio depending on what type of clay you use! Mine is close to 1:1

      Hi! It completely depends on the type of clay and pigment you are using. Mine is close to 1:1 but I didn't provide ratios cause it's not the same for all pigments

      Glazed on the inside only, I use porcelain so it's waterproof and doesn't require glaze on the outside

      It gets bisque fired, glazed with a clear gloss and then stoneware fired before use

    Are that casts fragile? Whenever I see a video like this it looks like they are hangeled very carefully, like it will break. But the bands on them look tight.

      Yes the casts are super fragile, and prone to warping when I make them. They have to be handled really carefully
