As you can see from the video, the patient did not flinch at all and found it painfree. It all depends on the person giving the injection, the site they give it, and the technique they use. Sorry to here you suffered more than you probably needed to.

I was stuck twice in the left on the outer left and outer right similar to how you're doing that patients foot!! It was No Bueno!!! and I have had many injections in my back, arm, knee ans neck!!! But nothing and I mean nothing prepared me for the feet!!! The dr then used a cold spray on the right foot on my next visit after I was extremeley hesitant about not getting it done because of how the left foot went!! She goes Oh I don't think I used it on the left foot last time!!! I could've kicked her LOL for that!!! I will say that the right foot was a much better experience and she went directly in the heel!!

It is advisable not to keep gel products on your feet constantly. Usually you only need to use the cap when there is pressure on the toe and remove it the rest of the time.

Slow injections are less painful than fast ones but 30secs is possible if a patient chooses that. General anesthesia is also an option via onward referral.

You CAN handle it - your fear is your biggest problem and is worse than any discomfort. Take slow deep breaths while your toe is being anesthetized; you'll be OK. Today's techniques are vastly improved since I was young. The needles are MUCH smaller and usually the doc stays "behind" an already injected area. In other words, the slow injection technique is done only as the anesthetic works. An injection is made just a little way and it takes effect almost instantly so the doc can move into the already numb area and inject more, advancing only through areas already numbed. Will it hurt? Yes, but ONLY A LITTLE BIT at first - there will be NO severe pain! And afterward, you might have some moderate discomfort but it won't be bad. You'll just need to keep the toe protected from moisture and dirt for a few days. As I mentioned to someone else, dental injections are MUCH worse than this. This is easy compared to that and it's also much quicker.

As someone getting this done in a couple weeks, this comment made me feel much better

@@panic4theblackparade951 I'm very glad to hear that because you really don't need to be afraid. You can expect some discomfort but nowadays they first spray the skin of your toe with a "freezing" spray (it numbs the upper layer of your skin) before injecting. They use MUCH smaller needles than in years past and my doctor did it slowly, only advancing the needle as the anesthetic did it's job. There was one spot which was a little problematic, but it was definitely not bad and much less painful than dental injections. Just relax and BREATHE - you'll be fine.

Lucky, ive got an appointment on the 4th(Monday) and the podiatrist doesent have any amnesthetics...so its going to be a WORLD of pain on both of my poor big toe's...

As someone who has had 14 teeth extracted all in one go, I would rather have the many many injections for the teeth extractions than the digital block to the toe. Pain is subjective and varies from person to person.

Make sure they use a cold spray to numb the area to be injected before they stick you!!! Had both feet done as the left was worse than the right! Had to be pricked twice in the left foot on both sides! The right foot was done two weeks later but this time cold spray was used and it was a significant difference in the pain level! Good luck!!!

You should be able to have steroid injection in both feet, just possibly not at the same time.

We only use hypoallergenic adhesives which means there is very low chance of allergy to these

@@healthfirstfootgaitclinic-5921 I react even to coban or liquid bandage. I can not use anything adhesive wise. Do you have any none adhesive type applications for toes? Like my 2nd toe to b specific.

@@garysmith3477 We believe that neither of those as stated are hypoallergenic (although there is a sensitive skin version of the latter which claims to be). Perhaps try Hypafix or Fixomull tapes if you havent done so already?

Stay away from docs that jack up toenails you mean!! The procedure if done correctly doesnt cause onychomycosis (fungal toenails).
