I jumped from C-123, C-130, C-141, UH-1, CH-47, and CH-53. My best time was with 1/509th at Caserma Ederle in Vicenza Italy from 1982-1983
Me, i was in CSC 1/509th Infantry ( Airborne ) 81-84 & 4th / 325 Infantry regiment .Did you get german jump wings jumping from a CH- 53 ? In 1982 ? Geronimo! Sambuca Blast 🍾🍷👊👍I got there the exact month that the Red brigades kidnapped BG. James L. Dozier Nov.1981 AIRBORNE !
@@berzerker1100 Greetings. Yes I went about 20 others to German jump exchange sometime in 1982. The five jumps were from a CH-53. I also remember the runs to Monte Berico and all those steps going up to the top of that mountain! Then in July of 1983 it was reflagged to the 4/325th and Alpha company was sent to Ft. Bragg.
@@johnblack3604 Yep, I got my german jump wings in 1982, Nukem Needham always had us running 🏃♀️, even after a night of partying at September's 🍸 bar ,I was in Redeye platoon Then we later got Stinger missiles, I fired one in Crete Greece 🇬🇷 I miss Vicenza italy 🇮🇹 I would like to go tour around there one day & I remember that change of command in the North 40 from 1/ 509th to 4/325. AIRBORNE 🇺🇲🪂🪖💥
@@berzerker1100 I always liked how Lt. Colonel Nukem Needham would go and say good bye to everyone that was ETS. Did you ever get guard duty at the BLSA site? There was the large circle guard, small circle and the roaming guard. I also miss being stationed at Vicenza Italy, it was a good duty post. I was in Alpha company, but because I was only a few weeks from ending term of service. I just stayed there. We had just returned from being in Turkey.
@johnblack3604 I remember the Turkey exercise in June 1983, I have a small clipping from stars & stripes newspaper , it didn't seem to make big news lol.. If I remember right the exercise was called " Eastern express " or (adventure express 83) ?? some of us were flown to Incerlik Air base, & some guys I heard went by sea ferry & railhead to South Turkey 🇹🇷 to be with the vehicles, I flew on the C-141 starlifter, then they bussed us to where we had to go. Yep, BLSA guard duty in a little town/ Hamlet called Tormeno. Also, one time in one of the little buildings in blsa, they used it for a makeshift/ temporary morgue when one of the 509 guy got Killed/ hit by a car coming back to post on a very thick foggy night so sad RIP to that Geronimo 🙏

My first job was my first plane ride in 1963 I was in the hundred and first when Kennedy got shot and we sat on the runway for 2 days with c-130s engines running and loaded to go who-knows-where. I was very fortunate during my time in the Army to have jumped c-119, c-123, c-124 C-130 Banana Boat helicopter and the Canadian beaver I had no malfunctions in the military only malfunction was skydiving
1/325 Airborne Infantry,. 1979-1985. Awesome dedication. Thanks for the inspiration. And thanks to all my brothers of Airborne divisions, past and present. Once Airborne, always Airborne.
Served at the 1/509th which became the 4/325th after General Dozier was kidnapped in Vicenza Italy . Those were the day's.

My family has ties to Special Forces and I do not remember half my life because of what happened to me in the Siege of Sarajevo in May 1992 when I was 16. My cousin was 82nd Airborne and 10th Mountain in Panama. I am half Czechoslovakian American and my family fought against the Nazis in the Resistance.

what song did you sing
Airborne even when I die.
Eighty deuce on the loose. I miss the smell of jet fuel the prop blast and the open silk above. Drive on airborne drive on.
I really dig this song. I would love to see silver wings pinned to my son's chest someday. But with the insane foreign policy of the government in Washington, DC today,I don't know. I just don't know...
